Anyone pick it up yet?

Doubt that I will. As amazing as the graphics and driving engines are, what's the point of a driving game where you can drive square into a concrete wall at 200 mph and the only thing that happens is the car comes to a complete stop and/or bounces off the wall unscathed?

In the words of a friend of mine:

(He thinks) they should cut it down to 100 cars (rather than the almost 800) and add a career/profile mode. If you're guy crashes into a wall at 200 mph or drives off a cliff......game over, you're dead. Start again or hire a new driver. They should make it more of an rpg where your driver gains experience, better skills etc....then dies in a fiery yet comical crash.

Gran Turismo is such a #itch to learn, the driving controls are soooooo touchy. I prefered Need For Speed, course the latest version of NFS that I've played came out about six years ago. Haven't gotten much of a chance to try anything new.

NFS needs a damage model too. It's like driving matchbox cars. bouncy! bouncy!

well, in NFS high stakes you can trash the cars and have to pay for the damage, but really it didn't affect the car's ability to drive.

I'm not much into racing games, I may pick it up but I'm going to wait for X-Play to review it ;) Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb are really good at showing the good the bad and the ugly in games.

try Richard Burn's Rally... it is frelling awesome. It is a toss up between Colin McRae 2005 or Richard Burn's Rally which I like better.

Burnout 3 is definately one of the best racing games I have ever played. when you are going 170 mph, you actually feel like you are going 170 mph. and if you crash, you crash, your car gets messed up and the worse the crash, the more points you get.

you eventually get to drive an indy car, and when you use the boost, its damn near uncontrollable, but thats whats great about it.

All the cars are generic no name cars, but you forget about that pretty quickly the first time you play. You realize the car being a real life car means nothing compared to Sick Ass gameplay.

And its got a pretty decent soundtrack:

1208 - "Fall Apart"
Amber Pacific - "Always You"
Ash - "Orpheus"
