Play Ball!
Okay everyone, Spring training is right around the corner, and since even the NFL thread has taken on a few baseball posts, I thought I'd start an official thread on it.
So, who's a fan of which team?
What teams do you think will be standing in the end?
Will steroids still be an issue by years end?
I am a Marlins fan- and they're looking pretty good this year- if Mota can be a good closer....
Go Fish!! :fish:

Since the Twinkies managed to hold onto Santana and Radke and since Mauer is healthy (hoping he stays that way) they're favored to win the division again. Win Twins!

Go Cubbies! We're gonna go all the way this year!! :roflmao:

02-25-2005, 09:38 AM
Go Yankees! Yup, I know what's coming and I can take it.
I think it will be interesting to see how the steroid issues works out. Baseball took an important step to reduce the tarnish on the sport, but let's see how they execute it.
To early for me to make predictions, I'll let you know at the end of camp.

Go Yanks!
do we have any predictions for the Nationals? I have to give them the benefit of a doubt...they're the underdog and i tend to root for them. plus, they're my hometown team.

That first step on steroids is more like a tiptoe- get cauht cheating (steroids is cheating) andd get a slap on the wrist- until you get caught for the fourth time?
Way to go Bud!

Well the season's started! Go Marlins!! 9-0 in the opener vs. the Braves. Nice to see at least one Florida team can score in Dolphins Stadium.
Great way to start the season down here! :aok:

Yankees 2-0, great start against the Sox.
The local team tried valiantly to win their opener last night, but as the Pads were palying in home run central, they ended up losing. I guess I ought to take a look at the schedule and decide which games I want to go to this year. Petco Park is a nice stadium, great place to watch a game.

Another reason why I love my Twins...
This from the Star-Tribune today:
"Former Twin Eddie Guardado sneaked into the Twins' coaches office and put shoe polish inside bench coach Steve Liddle's shoes and cut up his underwear. Revenge is being planned."

And of course, in the bottom of the sixth, the Cubs are managing to lose, 0-1. They just got tw hits, so maybe they'll actually score this inning ... although I probably just jinxed it by typing that. They now have a whole four--count 'em, FOUR hits--this game. Can we say, "You won't score any runs if you don't put the ball in play!" boys and girls? I knew you could ...

Sox got their rings today, a bunch of former players showed up, and the Green Monster was covered by a ginat championship banner. My favorite moment was when Mariano Rivera got a standing ovation.

I was going to go to the Twins game yesterday but I forgot to order tickets. I was a little disappointed because I missed seeing Johan Santana return to his form from last year. At the same time, I was happy because I didn't have to sit in the dreary Metrodome on a nice Spring day. It's sad because I don't mind the dome for Vikings' games but it totally ruins the experience when watching the Twins play in it.

The only games I ever go to down here are when the Cubs are in town. Unfortunately, since my brother and I both work, we usually get stuck going to afternoon weekend games in mid-summer ... and they're always way too hot!!
I think maybe I'll plan a vacation and get some tix for a game or two at Wrigley :D ...

04-11-2005, 02:57 PM

I really wanted to go to that game but consoled myself with the fact that there will be other opportunities to watch Supernatural make batters sit down.
Hopefully Morneau will be over his beaning in the head soon and Silva will only be out 15 days. :crossing fingers:

Sheff showed great restraint not knocking the guy on his ass (and was quick to say so after), but give major bonus points to the security guard who jumped in the stands to prevent it escalating. way to go whoever you are

Holy crap! What a highlight. 3 homeruns and 10 RBI for A-Rod. Hopefully this will be the shot arm the Yanks need to get moving out of last.
The Pads are sturggling, too. Just not living up to their talent.
