I had to have a "deep cleaning" today since I havent been to the dentist in like 4 or 5 years since I havent had insurance. Well... This does not feel good at all.

What they have to do is scrape off like 1/8th of an inch of the gums that are overlapping the teeth so they can get under the gums and to the roots and clean all the crap out. then they put stitches from the outside of the gum to the inside in 14 different places, to hold it together when they are done.

They ussually rocommend you have your mouth done in quarters to minimize pain and whatnot, but I decided that since I dont have many days off, and I need to save some for Burbank, that I will have it done in halves. ya, bad idea. I cant eat or swallow or much else.

I dont know if its as bad as having my wisdom teeth taken out since that was only 4 small areas, this is the whole top of my mouth. I am so hungry. Oh well. maybe tomorrow I will try some Jello.

So ya, Brush, Floss, and go to the dentist.

P.S. I actually have real healthy teeth. no cavaties and they are very clean. but taking care of the gums and stuff like this are something a dentist has to do, and I just waited to long.

Take it from someone that didn't take proper care of their teeth during their 20s and is REALLY paying for it now... GO TO THE DENTIST!!! :)

And be sure to take GOOD care of your teeth!!!

Ouch! And I thought a routine cleaning could be painful. Yeah, go to the dentist, definitely.

Mad Wombat, I've had my wisdoms out, but also two other teeth, the ones behind my top canines, for orthodontilogical (is that even a word?) reasons... braces and all. That was bad. I had the teeth out over two days to allow me to eat using half my mouth each time. What you had done sounds sooo much worse.

Many dental problems can be avoided by flossing (http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33148). :innocent: :floss:

All dental problems can be avoided if you have no teeth :D

well. its starting to feel better. i cant stop tounging the stitches and i had to ull 2 of them through my gums because they came untied. brushing hurts pretty bad, but i gotta do what I gotta do. surprisingly enough, using Listerene feels quite good for some reason.

Believe me, I KNOOOOOOOOOOW how you feel!!! Those stitches can get ANNOYING!!! Something else I found that always makes me feel better (especially right after any oral surgery or anything when they inject you with novacaine): CHOCOLATE MILKSHAKE!!! Sure, you're not supposed to drink through a straw for a little while after the procedure, but after that time - when your jaw starts to hurt from where you got the shot(s) - a milkshake does WONDERS!!! :aok:
