Damn you all to hell! (hic) I've had recurring hiccups since 7 PM and it's (hic) now 3 AM. Is this (hic)a stress reaction or what?(hic) Stupid (hic)body.

I take it you have tried all the usual remedies such as holding your breath and drinking water upside down....?
I used to be plagued with hickups some years ago and my (then) girlfriend cured me by, ahem, licking my ear...

hmm, well no girlfriend available at this time, but I managed to (WWMGD?)improvise. Trouble is what if it comes during class?

Hope thier gone now, but when I have them I hold my breath and drink 10 big gulps of water...it works for me.

Interesting tidbit: It's physically impossible to swallow and hiccup at the same time. (Thus the reason people say to drink water.) I can control mine easily. Take long, slow deep breaths through your nose, and every time you feel like you're going to hiccup, swallow. It works for me ... I haven't had the hiccups in YEARS.

I hate them. I have always tried a cough drop or piece of hard candy. Usually works.

What has worked for me in the past is drinking a full glass of water through a paper towel. Don't laugh- it worked....

I think it's the swallowing that does it. Like I said, it's physically impossible to swallow and hiccup at the same time.
I guess each person deals with it differently, and has his/her own method of getting rid of them. The same remedy doesn't work for everyone.

Maybe thats why my mom always gave me a piece of candy. The closed mouth-swallowing. I never liked water and you know soda will only make them worse. :)

You're right about the soda. And have you ever had to burp and hiccup at the same time? Ouch!!

Ya know I was going to suggest burping to get rid of the hicups but I didnt know if his neighbors would appreciate that. :D

Now that's one I haven't heard before ... if I actually GOT the hiccups, which I never do anymore, I'd try it just to see if it really works ...

So now my chest has been sore all day because of the severe hiccups yesterday!

Stick your finger down your throat and wiggle at that thing that hangs down that helps you swallow. I was told what's going on when you get hiccups but I forgot what you call it.
Only other sollution I know that works every time is to get someone to sneak up on you when you're least expecting it and poke you with a tack.
Or swallow a spoonful of mustard blech!

I thought that's what you do when you have bad sushi.

Oh, and swallow a packet of sugar. It doesn't get rid of the hiccups, but it makes me feel better. :D
