Ok, we have our Confessions thread (http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31839), where you... well, CONFESS things that you've done, etc. This is intended to be a little different. Basically, it's things that you've observed (be they funny, ironic or just plain weird) or things that may make you perturbed (like I think that any form of nut in chocolate is just plain wrong, though I wouldn't necessarily rant about it).

I'll get it started because I have one for both:

Observation: The pastor at the church near my office has a bumper sticker that says "My other vehicle is a X-Wing fighter!" I just thought it was funny and kinda ironic (pastor... God... jedi... the force...)

Rant: HELLO HOLLYWOOD!!!! Enough with the remakes already!!! Amityville Horror (releasing this weekend, I THINK...) and soon House Of Wax!!!! ENOUGH!!! Come up with a new idea!!!! :gnash: What are you getting paid millions for?!?! :irate: And what's even worse about House Of Wax is that Paris Hilton is going to be in it!!! :hork:

ETA: My bad... Amityville comes out next week.

Makes you wonder how the woman wearing all that perfume can breathe, doesn't it?

When people use the phrase "centered around". You can't center around something! Only on it! And I hear it all the time, even when (supposedly) smart people are talking.

Rant: I see it way to often, but the knucklehead that goes 5 miles UNDER the speed limit in the left lane, this is when said moron can move over and there is nothing but open road in front of him. I think this is an issue for some because the speed limit is 65 in Cali, even in the cities, whereas a lot of other places it's 55.

Part 2: The rolling roadblock, this is when vehicles get next to each other and go the same frelling speed, generally something less than the posted speed limit and again, you can't get around them.

JadedLegend3

Rant: People who pronounce the word "mine" as "mayan."

People who say/type "supposably." There is no B in that frelling word!

Which brings us to people who insist on speling congratulations with a D.

I will excuse people who are not native English speakers of these sins.

Observation: There are a LOT of things I can rant about in this thread! :D

Rant: If you're going to be out of the office, you might consider telling somebody ... like, you know, maybe the person who answers the phone and NEEDS to know whether you're in!! I swear, people in this office go out on business, and I'm the LAST person to find out about it! Yesterday, I had calls all morning for one of the women in the office ... only to find out that afternoon that she's out of town on business! So I totally lied when I told people that she was just away from her desk ...

Grrrrrrr. That just irks me. I'm NOT a moron, and I don't like being made to look like one. driving things (there are lots of them) but I hate it the most when people go like ten mph under the speed limit when you can't pass, then ten over when you can. grrrrrr.

also, I hate it when tourists treat me like their servant. Just because I work in the tourism industry where they're vacationing, doesn't mean I'm at their beck and call.

"y'all" is one of the best things about living in Texas. It's one of my favorite words. I even got my roomie from PA to start using, took 3 and half years, but I did it. :D

to clarify, the amityville remake...isn't really a remake. it's based off the book, not the movie. the orignal movie took big liberties when it came to adapting it from the book. this one (with ryan reynolds) was adapted from the book, not the movie. and the book was 10 times scarier than the movie.

my rant for the day comes due to assessment day..ugh. every year they give us assessment tests to prove that they are really teaching us something, or that we're actually absorbing something into our sponge-like brains. well, i was sitting in cramped freezing cold room in short sleeves, taking things like "intermediate algebra test". intermediate algebra?! why am i going to be assessed over something i haven't taken since high school? sigh.

i was so cold in there too. and i was so tired cause they made us get there at 8 am and i was so sleepy i finished my test and while i sat there waiting, i slept a little.

oh and on my second math one, we got the little notebook and not even noticing, i opened it and looked at the first problem, not accostumed to the idea that we all have to wait and then open it together. i haven't had the SATs in two years. so this idiot girl next to me goes "you're not supposed to start yet" in his whiny little tone, as if starting earlier is going to help me with the rest of the godforsaken test?

btw, does anyone know who Ergun Caner is? hehehehe. he's been on CNN and Fox News and stuff tons of times.

Yeah, it's pretty annoying. It's teken several years but I've managed to be able to hid the outward signs of my revoltion.

I could go on all day about ranks and observations of working in a movie theatre. You wonder why movies are so bad? because people leave their brains at home before going to the theatre. I know! It sometimes happens to me too. It's like your mind says, "Well, Body is going to the movies, time for a nap."

Rant of the day: The sillybus (what an odd name for a itinerary (...?...)) for my British Literature class today said that today was a review for our test on Friday. Last ten minutes of class, after another long dull lecture, the teacher asks, "Does anyone have any questions about the test?" :irate:

:headbang: Rant: People cannot drive in DFW!!! They use the left lane like people in other cities I've lived in/been to use the middle lane, and, they will NOT move to another lane until they need to exit 3 lanes over at 60 mph!! Other drivers who want to move along faster have to weave through traffic to get by. Then someone'll freak out, slam their break and traffic will be tied up for no reason. Oh, and, some completely freak out in any moisture on the roads.

I never really noticed the difference in driving patterns (been down here for 6 years)0 until I drove my mother to her sister's funeral in Ohio. All the way up there I was amazed that people kept the left lane open or used it to pass people.

I think my town is getting stranger. At a redlight today I saw this teenager with his head out the window like a dog does, arm hanging out too, Wild arse black black hair with one of them medeavil lookin coney caps that was black and white striped about ruler wide. He/she's wearing this black shirt with short sleeves, and under it a long sleeved shirt that was black and white stripped too ... I thought, I wonder if he's in a band ... or she ... well, it sure made me feel allot better about going to walmart in my long sleeved guy shirt, black pants with the sleevers rolled up about mid-calf with my sandals on ... hey, I should blend on in no? I mean, compared to the Muslims and women from India who shop in their native cloths, it's the striped one who hits me as rather peculiar.

Then I was thinking about those Moto comercials. Motoooo, No Moto Ono! (I named one of my twin cats Moto)

Well, I'm crazy so some wierd tangent turrets brain fart just had to slip in there.

I'd like to see him/her again somewhere and just go "Moto Arrigato!"

That's how everyone drives in Texas, and no one has heard of turn signals.

Could be worse... could be the eastern shore (Wicomico County, MD)... there people turn on the turn signal.... AND NEVER TURN THEM OFF!!! They drive for MILES like that.

No special observations today, but I do have a rant that's been ongoing with me for a little while: Dear metro bus drivers, GET OFF YOUR CELL PHONE!!!!! :gnash: You're driving a 30 ft long, multi-ton vehicle THAT YOU CAN'T TURN PROPERLY WITH ONE HAND ON THE WHEEL!!! It's hard enough turning those things in some of the tight streets we have, using one hand doesn't help that at all! Almost had an accident this morning because the damned bus driver was paying more attention to calling his buddy on the cell phone rather than paying attention while crossing an intersection!!! Good thing the other driver has good reflexes!

Then there is another driver that seems to think he's driving a stick shift... jerk-stop-jerk-stop-jerk-stop.... IT'S AN AUTOMATIC!!!! There is NO CLUTCH! Now, if the roads were icey or even wet or we were going down a steep hill, I could understand that (them some big vehicles and control is key!), but this is on a straight road, flat! No bad weather!!

email I received from Malachilenomade he asked if I could please post it here for him...

Once again, I've lost internet connection at work. The computer that I hopped online on was just disconnected from our network because it's an OLD computer w/o all the viral updates and such... good enough for work purposes, but not good enough to be connected to our network.

To make things worse, the computer at home still isn't connected to the net because it's too slow for DSL... not that that matters because the phone line in my apartment isn't working anyway.

Can I scream? To say I'm a little peeved would be an understatement. I didn't even get to see the pics of Ben's basket or if there were any pics of him getting it (heck of a basket too, from the sounds of it... I get the automated replies).

Not sure what my next move is going to be, but it won't be here at work.... perhaps I'll save up some money and get a cheapie computer that's fast enough to work right.

My son caught me right in the middle of having the back room door open. It's a window screen door and if I don't lock it he zooms in on it like it must have a beacon for opportunity for 2 year olds.

It didn't take him the whole three minuets I realized he was in there to fly open the cricket container and pull out the first two egg crate sheets out - only full of a thousand adult crickets!!!!!!!!! I'm on the tech/running crew for the latest production our theatre department here is putting on. Not by choice, it's mandatory to pass the Design and Production class that I'm in... which is required if I want to major in theatre. (which I may or may not do) so anyway, translation: I don't want to be doing this in the first place.

We were giving a list of times and dates for productions and were supposed to choose which one and provide conflicts based on those times and dates. So that's all said and done and months later when it's time for me to work on the crew, we all get e-mails... the stage manager has changed ALL the call times to a half an hour earlier than was on that sheet. Which is fantastic because that is just less time that I have to work on a multitude of things for other classes. But overall, half an hour, not a big deal, even if it is EVERY DAY.

Now it seems that she's completely wacko and is telling us we need to show up on the weekends at 9AM, the call time she gave us was 1PM!! That's just.. ridiculous. That's four freaking hours differnce over three weekends. Hopefully we'll be getting out a lot sooner because the 1PM-11PM rehearsals were ridiculous enough, but then a 9AM-11PM rehearsal makes me want to just not do it and get a frelling F in the course... ok not really.. but I mean I have a big project in science to work on, another project in theatre to work on, a paper to write for philosophy, and an exam to study for in social studies. Not to mention that I'm so incredibly sick right now that the last thing I feel like doing is waking up on the weekend way earlier than I do throughout the entire week, especially when my anti-vert meds are the equalvelant of downing and entire bottle of NyQuil, and don't wear off until mid-afternoon.

So yeah, sometime this weekend I have to figure out when exactly I have time to completely design a website and do a research project while dealing with stage crew literally ALL DAY. I can't do it at night since I'll have to get up bright and early at 9am on Sunday. I seriously can't believe this... if it had been pre-planned I could have accepted this.. but for it to be sprung up on such short notice... it pisses me off beyond belief.

SLAVEcraft is right.. grrrrrrr.

It's different when it's your child, that mom bond is enough to sustain me through whole containers of coffee mate poured out on the counter and floor ... stopped up toilets, raided refrigerators, black magic marker, no help, oreo cookies with just the white center eaten out of them all over the living room and missing almost every glass, bowl, silverware, knob and spatula in the house.

Observations:

People are marvelling at the millions of folks who've turned up in Rome to see Pope...I saw the coverage and couldn't help imagining the Muslims smirking...yeah, but WE do that every year in Mecca!

We got our silverware at a restaurant in little packets that said our silverware had been "...sanitized for our protection". I sure hope they don't put them in the sanitizer with the toilet seats.

The same packets also had three meal blessing prayers printed on them, so I suppose they were sanitized AND sanctified for our protection.

REVITALIZING this thread because I have seen numberous others and this truely is the place to just cut loose (and to keep things organized)

And I have 2 things of my own:

OBSERVATION: Have ya ever noticed that there are NEVER any rabbits in cemetaries?! Am I the only that thinks that's a little hinky? I've seen them trying to cross 6 lane highways... but I have NEVER (and I mean NEVER seen one in a cemetary!

Ok, it's rant time.... and this is NECESSARY (see this thread (http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34853&page=10&pp=15)).. so it's RANT TIME:

I'm not your damned boy! We had a great friendship (something we can both agree on) and then you emotions came into it. Time and again you worked to get me to feel the same way and eventually I gave in... something that I am not nor have ever been happy about. The relationship worked for a few months because I never had the heart to come out and say that I was never comfortable with it.... and I admit (though I do NOT blame you for) it drove me to drink heavily. Finally, I lost it and got beligerent with you... then we didn't talk for months.... After that time, we regained contact and things seemed to be heading in the right direction to rebuild our friendship... something that was always tantamount in my mind. For a few weeks, we did well.... then you played the "feelings" card.... and RUINED EVERYTHING! This cycle of rebuild and ruination cycle continued for years.... up to this past Thanksgiving weekend. AGAIN, we had a strong week of contact... then you RUINED it with that "feelings for me" stuff and then got PISSED at me for not feeling the EXACT same way for you! So I say this in FINALITY: GO 'F' YOURSELF! I'm not playing that stupid 'feel good/feel bad' game of your's ANY MORE! I'm 33... I may be alone for the rest of my life, but I WON'T be forced into a relationship that I feel is wrong. All I wanted was your friendship... not anything else.... your incapacity to finally understand that will no longer make me feel guilty or make me feel like I am some lesser person! All I ever really wanted was your friendship.

Go Frell Yourself!
