Buttons

A button fell off my shirt this morning, and I've been absentmindedly sucking on it (I know, bad habit, but it's kind of like chewing on pens...) anyway, it made me remember that I read a book, or watched a tv show/movie where the characters were stranded or something & they didn't have much food, and so they would suck on buttons to occupy themselves... I've been trying to think about what it was in. Anybody know what I'm talking about?? It's really not important, but it's been tickling the back of my mind and it's driving me NUTS!
