My desktop weather thing says it's currently 79F outside right now. And the weatherman said last night we could have a foot of snow on Sunday. Woo hoo! I love spring!

Ahh, spring fever, that feeling of being young and free and everything
is fresh and new..............
And let it snow, it will melt away soon, won't it?
In Northern Illinois I always say it's really Spring
after April 10. I can remember some snows, on
April 6 one year and April 8 another, of 6+ inches.
But no serious snow-falls after April 10 here.

Snow? In April? Once again, I'm reminded of why I live in Florida ...

Snow in April, snow in May, snow in June... seen 'em all.
But fear not eta, I doubt it'll be that bad, perhaps 6" at the outside, and spring snowstorms are the best kind. Heavy wet snow. Just begging for a short sleeve snowball fight, last snowman of the year contest, etc...
It came through here last night, and was mostly rain. So that means you'll be getting it tomorrow morning, but it probably won't be as bad as all that...

I remember a couple of years ago my parents came up from FL and were enjoying a nice Spring. Til on May 19th there was 4 inches of snow when they woke up. :lol Ive seen snow in June here too. Doesnt stay long. Todays weather is high of mid 60s and clear and sunny all week til Monday when it will be high of 50 with snow. And a low of 28 so that will be a nice shocker for my sinuses.

I like the sago palms better. Mom has a huge palm in her yard and I think it looks nice. She has a beautiful flower garden as well.

We get snow in June sometimes... I usually expect it at least until sometime in May. And you're right about spring fever. This was always the time of year when schoolwork was 10X harder because it was so beautiful outside. I always thought it would be better when I gradutated, but now I find I'm just more antsy to go home when it's warm and sunny until 8!

Yeah, I don't imagine we will actually get 12 inches of snow. Just the prospect of it on a beautiful warm sunny day is daunting. *sigh* I'm considering going to visit my brother in Durango this weekend, but they always get worse storms than us, so....

July is the only month that MN has never received measurable snowfall in recorded history. That being said, it's a lovely 70 degrees today and the lakes are starting to ice-off. I can't wait until the lilacs bloom!

spring is awesome but it also does horrible things to my stomach. i'm very sensitive to weather changes and the entire last week my stomach was doing backflips. i couldn't keep food down. i felt sick to my stomach as soon as i ate and went outside where the temperature was either cooler or warmer. it was horrendous.
hopefully now that the weather is stabilizing a bit i can go without making an upchuck donation to the porcelain gods.
was that too graphic?

Which is why you often hear the phrase "It's not the heat, it's the humidity" when Minnesotans complain about summer weather.
I was hoping to get some yardwork done this weekend but it rained most of the day on Sunday. The lakes around here are ice-free now!

Storm Sets Record For Precip
April Spring Storm Dumped 2 Feet Of Snow In Some Areas
POSTED: 5:26 am MDT April 11, 2005
UPDATED: 11:23 am MDT April 11, 2005
DENVER -- Many Coloradoans are digging out after a spring storm dumped nearly 2 feet of snow in parts of the metro area, stranded thousands of passengers at the airport and closed major sections of the interstate.
The storm was so wet, in fact, that it set a record for the amount of precipitation for April 10. The total amount of precipitation for Sunday was 1.09 inches at Denver International Airport, which breaks the old record of 0.76 inch set in 1908, according to the National Weather Service.
The system may not have been as powerful or as paralyzing as the March storm of 2003, but it does appear more widespread, 24/7 Chief Meteorologist Nelson said.
The latest snowfall totals are quite remarkable:
Greenland, about 20 miles north of Colorado Springs -- 24 inches
Genessee -- 23 inches
Bergen Park -- 23 inches
Strasburg -- 23 inches
Littleton -- 22 inches
Conifer -- 20 inches
Centennial -- 18.5 inches
Sedalia -- 18.5 inches
Evergreen -- 18.5 inches
Castle Rock -- 15 inches
Aurora -- 15 inches
Bennett -- 14 inches
Denver -- 11 inches
Boulder -- 8.3 inches
Lyons -- 5 inches
Because of the difficult driving conditions, more than 200 schools are closed -- including those in the state's biggest school districts such as Adams County District 12, 14, and 50, Aurora Public Schools, Brighton School District 27-J, Boulder Valley Schools, Cherry Creek School District #5, Denver Public Schools, Douglas County Schools, Elizabeth Schools, Englewood Public Schools, Jeffco Public Schools, Littleton Public Schools, Platte Canyon School and Weld County schools.
Interstate 70 remains closed between Tower Road and the Kansas state line and officials with the Colorado Department of Transportation said it will remain closed until mid-afternoon, or later. Hundreds of trucks have been forced to wait it out on the side of the road or at nearby truck stops. Whiteout conditions closed I-25 between Denver and Colorado Springs and farther south between Pueblo and the New Mexico line for much of the day Sunday, although I-25 between Pueblo and Trinidad reopened early Monday.
.....
Blowing snow created by 35 mph wind gusts reduced visibility to less than a quarter-mile, making driving conditions extremely hazardous Sunday afternoon.
Chains are required for the mountain passes and Loveland Pass remains closed. Dozens of cities and counties are on accident alert so drivers who get into minor fender-benders are asked not to call police unless injury or drugs and alcohol are involved.

HOLY SMOKES!!!
It's just snow... man would I like to take a day off and go build snow men a la Calvin and Hobbes... The interesting thing as is usual in this type of storm was the wind, so I don't know how they figured out those totals. There was a 4 foot drift across the front of my apartments, and my car was a snowmound...heh, took me an hour to dig it out... On the TV news they interviewed a retiree from Buffalo, NY. who thought the fuss was amusing, because that much snow is nothing to her. Although she did complain about lack of snowplows... that's the catch-22... we don't get lotsa big storms like this, so we don't need as many plows, but then we do get one, it's ugly.
It's already 40F and climbing in the bright sun, 60 tomorrow, 70 on thurs... I love that part. ;)

Usually the snow melts so quickly that it doesn't matter. But then there are those storms where you're just like, WTF? I remember in 2003, that storm ruined my spring break. I-70 W was closed in the mountains, so we couldn't drive to Vegas. But it was the only snow day I got at CU! :lol
I think the best thing about this storm is the high moisture content of the snow. I think that's part of what helped save us from fires in 2003 - that big storm packed a lot of water :aok:
