I was watchin the tv guide channel the other day ta see what was on, and they did a quick special on farscape, saying that the success of the pk wars may cause scifi channel to continue the series. not sure how itd work with ben on stargate, but with andromeda ending soon they would have available funds... wonderin if anyone knows anythin bout this. I assume its pretty legit cuz it was on the tv guide channel, and farscape isnt shown in my area anymore, so theyd have no real reason to bring it up other than to build intrest for a new show.

Well, I haven't heard anything about the possibility of reviving the series, and I'm on all the Farcape boards fairly regularly.
Perhaps what you heard was that the series is going into syndication, which is not the same as renewal or revival of the series. The syndication rights for the series were bought by the same company that bought the syndication rights for South Park, among other shows. (I can't remember the name of the company.)
So, the SciFi Channel sold the rights, and they won't be the network showing it. Syndication for Farscape starts in Fall 2005, if I remember correctly. Most local Fox affiliates will be showing it, but that was according to the last reports I read. There were a lot of other channels interested, as well.

It's probably the syndication. :(

Farscape will never come back as a series (that coming out of Rockne's mouth). Mini or feature will be the next step.

Could they possibly have been talking about a spinoff?

I doubt it. There is nothing Farscape whatsoever in the works right now... from what Rockne said....

I've been told now that it's just syndication that they were talking about. If I find out anything else I will let you know.

Y'know, thinking about it, a Sikozu & Grunshlik spinoff wouldn't be bad...
Sikozu - Watch me shift my gravity centre!
Grunshlik - Corr blimey missus, I've got too much gravity to shift!
In any case, I don't think they can try and continue the main series after how PK Wars seemed to end it all. An experimental spinoff could be good, but I doubt it'd do well. The other two options - mini and feature - I also don't see happening since they seemed to "end" it, unless a new lot of villains were brought in (hey, we all forgot what the Nebari were up to).

I'd like to know where the show might be aired, if another company bought the rights.
That in itself shows that some TV-related company is interested in FS.

Sadly, I've come to a conclusion that many seem to be coming to; Farscape is done. I was watching PK Wars today and was saddened once again by what seemed to be the ...finality... of the it. Actors are moving on to new projects. Items are being sold off on ebay. I come here and see the main page languishing on old news. Syndication seems half-hearted at best to me.... :(
*sigh* Pardon me whilst I go sit in a corner and cry a little... :cry2:

Henson has only sold syndication rights; NOT rights to the franchise itself. In the US, that means airing rights have been sold to a variety of networks/stations to begin in Fall 2005--international distribution is different, if I'm remembering correctly. US market coverage, according to MediaSavant, is a healthy 92%.
There is a future for Farscape... according to Brian Henson [and echoed by DK and Rockne and the cast time and again] it is, right now, aiming toward feature film.

As much as I hate to admit it, I do believe that PK WARS had a final finality to it as DTMFluffy said.
However, the only way I would appriciate more Farscape if it was a hundred times better than the PK WARS storyline etc. And it would be awesome to see it at the movies....hehe I could force my friends to go and see it...heh.
I mean from day one, farscape has been building up to PK Wars and everything in it and finally it ends with an almighty BANG...and a great way to do it I also believe. But to do more Farscape, I reckon they better have a really impressive story to tell, or I think I and many others will be disapointed.
Its hard to explain really. But thats what I think.

I trust Rockne O'Bannon, David Kemper and Brian Henson and I'm more than sure that they won't disappoint us. Big screen Farscape, that's what I'm waiting for now :) or another mini.

Well, Syndication is very big actually, you have to remember that the entire Trek Franchise was made in Syndication of the Original show, for Farscape it's even bigger because it will be in more homes that it was in it's original airing on Sci-Fi, meaning it will have bigger potential for new fans, now the more people watch the Syndication the more money will be made on commercials that airing of the show, also more fans equal more Merch being sold. All in all the more Money Henson makes through merch and Syndication the more Chance we will have more Farscape, now my guess is that they are pretty happy with the numbers they are getting right now, since both Brian and more recently(as in the recent I-CON, which occurred earlier the month) Rockne have said that more Farscape is DEFINITELY coming, probably as a feature film, but it could come as something else, but either way it's coming, so CHEER UP :D

I didn't know that Rockne had said that, as I've been busy lately, but that lifts my spirits some. I also think you are right about the syndication, and more exposure will mean more addicts, uh, fans.......

Now, now...dry those tears. If you've been watching PK Wars, then you've heard Brian Henson say that this isn't the end of Farscape. Like others here are saying, the next incarnation will probably be a feature. And I would venture a guess that a Farscape feature would include Crichton and Aeryn. Ben and Claudia at least feel that there's a lot of story left to tell concerning the two of them.
Actors are moving on to new projects.
*some teensy spoilers ahead if you haven't seen the entire series and PKW*
Buck up. That's what hiatuses are for... And the actors need to pay rent while they're waiting for actual production of whatever comes down the pike next to get off the ground. Don't just want them sitting around twiddling their thumbs when they can be out there, getting well earned face time, earning new fans who decide to check out this Farscape thing because they like the actor/actress...
I've got no doubt that the characters and the universe at large have got a rich, unmined group of storylines that would make fantastic movies/minis/spinoffs should the powers that be choose to make them. Just think of all the races that we could finally plumb the depths of with any new project... the Nebari, the Scorvians, Stanz and his... I mean, her... I mean... Stanz's race...
And if it features the same core cast, do you really think they all settled down to completely quiet lives with no excitement whatsoever? Somehow, I doubt that. Skip out a few years, I bet you Aeryn and John could have a heck of a lot more problems on their hands than keeping Little D from playing with the DRDs all the time. It's a big universe. Lots of races. All kinds of good plotlines just waiting to be explored.

Ditto to that. We can't be so selfish that we'd deny our favorite actors the opportunity to work on other projects, to stretch and grow creatively and professionally. And besides, the Uncharted Territories aren't going anywhere. If it takes a year (excuse me, a cycle) or two to get back there, that's fine. It just means that that much more will have happened while we were gone, so there will be that much more to catch up on.

Perhaps. I think it would depend on placement in the lineup as well. Too many shows I enjoyed ended up swimming with the infomercials at 3 in the morning (sound familiar?)....

:sing: "You can't hurry love, you just have to wait..."
You will hear more. It. Takes. Time.
The fact is, any kind of filmed production, be it miniseries, TV series, or film, takes a while to cook before anyone gets wind of it. Production companies tend not to say something is going to happen until all the contracts are signed and the ink is dry. We learned this with the Farscape miniseries, and it's true everywhere.
Most people don't realise that the actual time it takes to make a film, from conception to arriving in theatres, is measured in YEARS, not months. We don't hear about all the pre-prodution stuff -- financing, logistics, the paperwork that is very neessary to create a quality film. Locations need to be researched, secured, permits issued. Equipment -- sets, recording equipment, lights, hundreds of things you'd never think they'd need like clothespins and tape and so on-- all has to be thought up, listed, priced, a budget made, all before anything becomes official. Scripts have to be written. Insurance, food, lodging, etc. all have to be procured. Thousands of little details all have to come together and work before the cast shows up and the camera rolls.
None of this is going to go any faster because fans are impatient for information, hints, etc.
What we have found throughout the years of waiting and suffering through Hiatus Hell, is to turn to projects and celebrations. Work on expanding Farscape's audience beyond what it is, discuss and enjoy the series with others. Read fanfic. Go to meetups and local group activities. Go to cons. Use that good old Scaper creativity and make neat stuff. Participate in the Delvian Blue-Bottom exchanges. Do something neat for science fiction in general. Keep busy, and not only will Farscape benefit, you will find the wait much more tolerable.
There will be more Farscape. There will. Trust me, there are a lot of people around here who are good and experienced at this, and we know when DK and Rockne and Brian say there will be more, you can bet they will do whatever they can to make it happen. The best we can do is continue to help, and to love the Farscape universe!

This is where YOUR efforts become valuable. Find out which station will be airing Farscape in your area and then thank them for airing your favourite show let them know how much you and your family/friends are lookiing forward to seeing the show again.
Amazing how much positive impact one, or two letters or e-mails can have. :D

I can’t help but remember the first time around with the effort to bring back Farscape and realizing in hind sight that the Mini had to be filming when we where all starting to think “Oh Gee Farscape is Gone”.
I’m optimistic, I am certain we will see more Farscape including a successful spinoff series (aways down the line), but now Rockne DK and the cast - have got to realize that they have a real strong franchise on there hands that some corporate fat cat would love to get there greedy little paws on, and so they have to move cautiously, especially after there experience with the Sci-Fi Channel.
also the actors need to work and earn money like the rest of us, until the project is a go.
so it is time for weariness but not pessimism, it seems to me from the interviews I read Farscape is far from over.
Also I’m certain it will take time not just to put the whole production together - but to intelligently and creatively put together a story that is even more heart stopping than before but is still something that the fans will recognize as Farscape.
All that we can do is Keep on with what we have been doing, being annoying irritating Nerdy Psycho fans who just won’t shut up.
Let’s keep On Keeping On.
...and I’m paying closer attention to what comes from T.V. Guide.

Aw, Fluff, not to worry. Try not to be so cynical. If the mini could happen, a film will happen. I believe those guys - Rockne and DK and Brian. They're determined to make it happen. And we will all be there as a force to support them. In the meantime, lighten up! Relax, kick back! The world goes on. And you can always come here to fret and get lots of moral support.

Spinoffs...hmm that would be interesting...I dont really know what to think of that if that was the case. I think at this point I would much prefer the feature as it would continue on the stories of everyone at once.
Then maybe sometime later on in the future they could do spinoffs.
Heh, I just hope that in what 20-30 years time, someone decides they want to do a re-make of Farscape like the did with Battlestar etc, because that would just be wierd. Farscape, I believe can never be remade. heh.
