I was going to post about it yesterday, but I was really busy. Ahem:

I'm happy to annouce that I finally started my new job yesterday! :woohoo: I have my very own desk and computer and phone. Which for me is something new :P It's been a bit of culture shock, moving from a lab to an office. In the city. They're easing me in to the new job, which I really appreciate. I'm officially a summer intern, but I have a feeling that it will become a permanent position sometime in the next couple of months. Especially after my new boss sent out an email to the entire office about how I just joined the team and what my degrees are in and what I was doing before I got here  I have been told to be happy that he didn't attach a photograph...

So far it seems like a nice group of people. Though I do kind of miss my friends at my old job. I think it will just take me a little time to get used to, that's all. The view from the office is great though. We're midway up the tallest building in Denver, and we have one whole floor. So you can walk around the office (in a big circle) and see the entire city. My area looks out to the west, which is really cool, cause you can see the baseball stadium, and in the background, the mountains :aok: I plan to take a picture at some point, and hopefully post it. Anyway, just a little update.

ok, so I managed to sneak over to the windows near my cube today when nobody was looking and snap a few photos. This one is looking out to the northwest. Our offices are midway up the building, which is located on the very north edge of the skyscrapers in Denver. Which isn't saying much - we've only got like, 10 or 12 or something. It was a little hazy when I took the picture, so you can't see the mountains very well. It actually feels kind of strange to be so far from them, even though I grew up on the southeast side of the city. And in case you couldn't tell, I've higlighted the baseball stadium in the photo:

Whew!! What a great view. You are so lucky.
I work in a basement, well, I think
its called an English basement -there are
windows about 2/3 of the way
up the wall and they are ground level outside,
but that's no view. :(

Yea, my window looks out on a brick wall about 10 feet away. If I press my nose against the glass and look up, I can get a glimpse of the sky.

Congrats on the new job, hope it turns into a great permanent one!

Congrats eta! :applaud: It usually takes a few weeks to really settle in to a new job but that will go by quickly! The view is beautiful and I bet it will be great during a snowfall this winter. :aok: Try to get us a pic of a sunset one day. ;)

Yeah, my last job had a nice view of Table Mountain, except for the two houses that got built right between our window and the hill :lol You could sort of see stuff between the houses. But mostly I just watched people going in and out of their garages. This one guy had a really peculiar ritual for parking his truck that amused me daily :D

The view pictured above is actually from the window that the lady I work for looks out of. My cube is behind hers, so I can only see it if I step out of my cube. But the whole place is full of sunshine from all the windows, and just walking around the office you can see all kinds of different stuff in the city. Which I think is really cool.

And you'll probably have to wait for a sunset picture - the sun hasn't been setting until around 8 lately - lord help me if I'm still here that late this summer! :lol Though it wouldn't suprise me if it happened once or twice...

Ooo, ooo, now I want to hear about the peculiar ritual for parking the truck!*laugh*

Eta Carinae, congratulations on your new job, that is terrific news. Good for you.

Harvard Business School did a study, and they found that it takes about 18 months to learn a job thoroughly. So, you got time.
