First off, let me say that this really happened to someone I personally know which affected me even worse and I had tears in my eyes when I finally got the news this morning.

One of my dad's closest friend's daughter once was married to a man from Egypt. When they split, she got custody of their little daughter. Of course, he thought he had all the rights on the kid and she had none and kidnapped her to Egypt. The family tried everything to get the child back since he rmother had custody, but, well, in Egypt the man has all the rights on the kid and the woman none, so once th girl was in Egypt, there was no way in hell they could get her back. They tried for years and years, even went through the European Counsil but had no luck. Their last attempt to get her back was to kidnap her back which would have cost a fortune, and they did not have the money. They never gave up hope though, but the older the girl got, the harder it was to ger her out of Egypt. For 12 years, there was no contact to the girl at all - until two days ago, the mother got a phone call from Frankfurt airport immigration police telling her that someone from Egypt claims to be her daughter and they need her to come there and identify her.

Now get this - the girl is now 18 years old and her father has had it with her. She's in the age to be married off, but he doesn't want to spend any money on her wedding gifts to the groom's family. Neither does he want to spend any money on her further education which she wants to pursue. So he put her on the next plane and sent her back to Germany to be with her mother! The girl speaks not one word German and doesn't even remember her mother! Her father sent her off with her old German passport which had her German name in it and a letter to her mother that she was now 18 years old, she has served her duty as his daughter and she can now have her back. I was like    when I heard this!

Mother and daughter are reunited now though, and the whole family is more than happy to have her back after 12 years. I can only imagine how confusing it must be for the girl, being with a family she doesn't remember and not speaking a word of their language. Maya, the girl, has voiced though that she never ever wants to step foot onto Egyptian soil again. Heaven knows what her father did with her all these years. I am just happy that even after 12 years, this story has a semi-happy ending.

wow, that's a heck of a story. movie quaility even, now that she is back with her mother. I wonder what it is like for her now.. at least her father sent her back to her mother instead of just throwing her out or something.

People can be idiots. That poor girl, at least her mother's family
wants the girl with them, she has that support group at least.
I will be thinking of her often in days to come :meditate:
Good Luck to her in her 'new' life.

WOW

I am so glad that she is now with people that will care for her and love her. She can now live the life she wants and needs.
