I walked in. I walked out. But I was carrying 237.45 worth of X-Files box sets.
Why?
They were on sale.
I was desperate to take hold of the sale because I only had until July 4th to get them.
I now own season 1-7. 8 and 9 do not exist.

I still need to go buy the new ECW DVD. Maybe the best of RVD as well.

While I was there I wanted to also pick up Daily Show's Indecision 2004 but that would've been an extra 30 dollars on top of the large amounts I had already decided to spend.

I got them as they came out., and since they'd release two sets in a year - one at christmas and one in May around my birthday, I always got them as presents.

exactly why I call it the evil store... i always leave with more than I went in for.

i would've liked them as presents but it was a lot for a box set and i figured that if i waited, they may come out with something better, like a deluxe edition...
what's the difference between the regular box sets and the collector's editions?

How much are they on sale for?
I'm awful close to tax-free Delaware...

49.99 each. all the sets of every season. all 7 of them. this is opposed to 80-100 dollars normally, depending on where you go.

exactly why I call it the evil store... i always leave with more than I went in for. Yep.....during Christmas I went in to get a few BB gift cards, the whole time I was chanting to myself...'get in get out... don't go down the isles....get in get out...don't go down the isles'. It didn't work. :lol

It hurt the wallet twice as much, since I had been buying the VHS sets before the DVDs came out.
They're coming out with the new sets (Abduction, Black Oil, Colonization.. etc) , but those are only going to include the mythology episodes. I'm not sure about any extra features, but they probably have some I'd suppose. From what amazon says though, it doesn't look like much...

Retail was originally $140, I remember finding them at Costco for $90 and thinking it was such a huge deal

well it doesn't matter either way, because as long as i have continuity i'm okay. all of the sets i have are collector's editions and it's because those were all that were there.
the myth arc dvds look good and i might think about those but i'd be hard pressed to get them now that i have all of the seasons i want. i'm a pretty diehard fan so what i don't remember from the mytharc (which is nearly everything) i can just watch. i don't need chris carter to explain it.
one of the things i love is the x-files movie soundtrack. the hidden track at the end with chris carter explaining the mytharc. it's classic. and the foo fighters on all the soundtracks was great. i'm glad one of my favorite bands is such a fan of one of my favorite shows.
do you think it's going to be possible to watch all 7 seasons in one day?

Ok, I'm confused...what is the collectors edition?? As far as I know there was only one full set of DVDs released.
They must just say "collector's edition" on it or something, since it was the first show to release seasons on DVD...?
I like the soundtrack, but I thought the mytharc thing was lame, because from the show it was obvious they didn't even know what they were doing in regard to mythology past like season 4.
ETA: Yup, just checked. The original DVD sets do say "Collector's Edition" on them.

yes, it does have the collector's edition.
they developed the mytharc the best after season 2. it started unfolding a little too much after season 6. david duchovny and the studios began having problems around here...not that it's why the mytharc was unraveling but it's hard to write for mulder when you aren't sure whether he's returning or not. the movie was amazing. i loved it. it was just the huge epic scope the mytharc was, if you watched all of them together.

I thought Seasons 2, 3, and 4 had pretty solid myth episodes. In the later seasons they stopped doing as many myth episodes, and started to contradict themselves.
My main objection is that Mulder and Scully seemed relatively static. Scully kept on being the skeptic for way too long. Then Mulder was gone and they needed someone to be the believer and then it was like she though everything had to do with the supernatural, which was really weird. They could have had a lot more character development than they did, but I suppose it would have been tough to mess with the dynamic the two regular cast members had.
I loved the movie as well, but it seemed to back track a little in season 6 after it, and that bothered me. I really wish they would have shown colonization, to have it be a major theme and never pay off irked me.

i think with the movie, i was so hyped to have an x-files movie and to see it come to life on screen that i was very excited for the next season. and i think by far, it's one of the best seasons ever.
