I'm going away for a week tomorrow! Heading to Lake George, NY with my family and grandmother. I'm rather excited to be going, but I'm not sure how well I'll deal without a computer for a week...it will be interesting. But atleast there will be an amusement park and a supergood ice cream store to keep me occupied. :D
So is anyone else going away for July 4 or at all this summer?

We aren't going away, but our folks are having a ton people for the fireworks on the 3rd (fireworks are shot off over the lake the 'rents live on & you watch from the boat). Both vs & I are really excited that we don't have to miss the fireworks this year, as working at ConVergence prevented us from seeing them for the first time in our lives.
We will also be working at ConVergence for a bit, but that should be okay.
Nothing for the 4th other than having a few friends come over to watch fireworks. We live about a block away from a baseball stadium and we have an excellent view of the show from our backyard, nice and relaxed with our food and misters.
For a vacation, this year my husband an I are going on an 11 day Hawaiian Cruise. "Only" 9 more weeks, we leave on September 3rd. I literally cannot wait...I've never been that far away from home before.

we're having a family get together...which usually means someone discusses money and everyone else resents that person for the day. and it also means family friends are coming too...i hope it also means grill. i've been needing a good hot dog. my dad makes some mean ones.

I hope you have fun!
Unfortunately, I won't get to do much for July 4th. My family's vacationing in Ireland, and since I've just started a new job, I have no vacation time and no holidays. So, I'll be stuck working all day on the fourth.

Hope your vacation is awesome! I was supposed to be in Minnesota for the 4th, but then I got sick so I couldn't go. But, at least I will be able to see some friends I haven't seen in a while and hopefully catch a good fireworks show :aok:

On the 4th I didn't go anywhere except my mum's house, to do a bunch of work on my castiron sculptures for an exhibition whose deadline date is coming up FAST.
August I will go to the 11th Annual Herman Iron Pour, and make more sculpture. www.hermanironpour.com
I go every year.
Eta Carinae, you came to MN? Where? I live in Twin Cities.

I worked on the Fourth (after a jaunt in the pool with my daughter!!!) - hard to turn down triple-time $, you know?
I am, however, taking the kiddos (well, my 13-yr-old son & his friend, my 7-yr-old daughter, my 19-yr-old niece, and 23-yr-old cousin of hubby - who due to her age, is considered more of a niece as well!) to Orlando. We leave early on the 16th of July for our check-in afternoon of the 17th. I'm giving myself PLENTY of time to be able to stretch and walk, otherwise I'll be the Pillsbury Dough Preggo after sitting in the car for umpteen hours!
Of course, I may go more than a little insane with that many children in my charge! ROFL!!! Any and all prayers will be graciously accepted!!! :D

Well, had I not gotten sick, I would have been just outside of Duluth.
