Thanks, I need to learn more plant's in English. And I will soon.I'm ordered some card's that have the name of the plant in 4 language's.That part of the garden is my parent's.Mine is full of raspberry bushe's for the moment and a frelling large wine berry bush.I don't like red ones, I prefer more black currant.

Rhubarb. Eat only the stalk, the leaves are full of oxalic acid and will make you sick. They do break down very quickly in the garden to make compost, though.

Cut the stalks into pieces about 1" long.
Toss with brown sugar (1/2 cup per pound of cut rhubarb), place in an oven-proof pan.
Take flour, soft butter and brown sugar and work together until the flour/butter mixture looks like breadcrumbs.
At this point, you can add spices, such as 1/4 teaspoon to 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom and/or cinnamon and/or cloves and/or allspice and/or nutmeg.
Place flour/butter mixture over rhubarb, and pat lightly down to create topping.
350 degree oven for about 60 minutes, or until topping is browned and juices are bubbling.
Serve warm with custard or heavy cream.
Enjoy.

The redder the stalk, the sweeter the rhubarb. So leave on for another couple weeks yet. It is really not in season quite yet. Late mid to late July is best. I have a bumper crop this year. Almost time to make those strawberry/rhubarb pies! Also, just cutting the stalk and leaving the root will allow it to come back year after year.

I guess I will make the attempt to try it again. :D Everyone loves my moms pies so I guess there must be something there. But I will give it another shot. :D

That is how come I will make a strawberry/rhubarb pie. Cuts any bitterness that might be left. Plus it is all in the growing, etc...... just watch even if you buy it. Make sure the stalk is very red. You will be getting a sweeter rhubarb. :D :D :D

Now I LOVE strawberries so maybe I will add extra strawberries and that will counter it. I like sour stuff and tart fruits. Nothing a little sugar cant fix. ;)

Oh, no.. That stuff is grown about everywhere I guess..... I now live on what used to be a 100 acre farm. My grandfather grew about everything he could, but mostly tobacco, corn, beans and potatoes. And tomatoes, can't forget them....

Back from searches at two grocery stores. One of them didn't have anything called Rhubarb, but they did have some fuzzy cucumber called a "Mo Qwa". It said 49 cents a pound, but the cashier wanted $1.99 a pound for it, so I passed.

The other grocery store had a price tag that said "Rhubarb". But the stuff underneath the tag looked like horseradish instead.

So I looked online and found this "Everything you wanted to know about Rhubarb site" and it told me I should be looking for something that looks like red celery.

I think I have seen this red-celery before, but don't remember where. The search continues. . . :)

PS: I saw something at the site about "real" rhubarb vs. "fake" rhubarb, but haven't explored yet.

"Mo Qwa" is Asian. the cantonese pronunciation of is 'mook gwa'

It's a really really great vegetable.
