im now trying to access a web page that tell me i have got an incompatible browser and wont let me sign in .this is what it says...
"To allow us to give you secure access to this section of The National Lottery website you must use a PC or Mac running one of the following web browsers:
Internet Explorer 5.01 SP2, 5.2, 5.5 SP2 and 6.
Netscape 7 or AOL 7 and above

Version 7 of what browser? It should be good enough either way.
My favourite browser is Mozilla Firefox 1.x
Camino on Mac OS X is also very nice.

Doesn't it say on your desktop, beneath the symbol you clicked on the be able to surf the net? If not, what does the symbol look like?

What you're using is the beta version of the new Internet Explorer (which is really new), if that site was designed for only current browsers (and a few older ones) that could explain why it's not letting you into the site.

Ahhhhhhh that explains it, i also cant get into amazon !! Thanks janey.
Ive just spoken to hubby who tells me hes sticking with mozillafirefox, apparently this will cure all my problems.
MotorW it was nothing sinister just the National lottery web site. I was going to loose... i mean bet my last 5 quid on a scratchcard to amuse myself!

Hm, I'm surprised that Amazon didn't work. It all has to do with how people code their sites whether or not they'll be forward compatible with newer browsers (or it could mean that Internet Explorer is going to be an even bigger piece of crap than the current version of IE).
I agree with your husband, stick with Mozilla Firefox and you'll be happy.

I use Netscape 7.2 (always seems to run the smoothest for me). I had downloaded Netscape 8.0 (which is a version of Firefox) and didn't like it. At work, I use a Mac with Safari 1.2.4 (which gets hung up and crashes on occasion). When I use Firefox on the Mac, it won't load thumbnail pix on a web page. Once we upgrade our system to Tiger, I'll try Firefox again (or the latest version of Safari).

I use Firefox. I love it though it still isn't compatible with Microsoft Exchange e-mail, so I still use an IE window for that.

We've got Outlook Web Access 2003 since last week. Best thing ever if you use it with IE (just like the desktop version), but it's indeed drastically stripped down in Firefox.
