So last night my coworkers and I went out for a happy hour because the one guy on our team is quitting...today is his last day. :(

I had two Manhattans, two beers, some fries and the best chocolate cake EVER. Just. Ever.

I also flirted shamelessly with everyone there...male/female/waiter/my boss/single/married...you get the idea.

Anyway, I get home last night around 10:30, not bad, right? I crawl wearily into bed and snuggle down for the night.

At approximately 2:39am my torture begins. I awake to a bone-chilling howling...coming from my cat, Frank. You will remember him from his previous escapades with screaming and pillow-thieving.

Frank's been good for a while, he hasn't been screaming but I guess last night he was upset.

The rest of my night went something like this:

:kitty: Meow.
Jacqui: Frank.

:kitty: Meooooow.
Jacqui: Fraaaank.

:kitty: Meow!
Jacqui: Frank!

Time passes....

:kitty: MEOW!!!
Jacqui: FRANK!!!

:kitty: MEOOOOOOOOOOW!!!
Jacqui: SHUT UP FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND ALL THAT IS HOLY!!!

:kitty: MEOW!

I at this point get up, grab said kitty, and put said kitty in bed with me, pissing off said kitty to no end. I snuggle with kitty and when I am almost asleep I finally let kitty wriggle out of my grasp. Disgruntled, he hops to the floor.

I return to my almost asleep state hoping to reach Nirvana, which for me at this point is just sleep. Good old fashioned REM sleep.

All is quiet. I'm so close to sleeping I can taste it!

:kitty:...meow.
Jacqui: AHHHHHHH!

He was still meowing when I left for work this morning at 9. *sigh*

LOL. My cat sleps all day just so it can torment me all night. It climbs up the door frame and then jumps from the top of the door onto my bed with the biggest almighty thump imaginable! I swear she does it on purpose!
i just wrote my first fan fic and she insisted in lying across the keyboard the whole time.My cat is my worst critic!

uuuhhhggg....that stinks sorry to here about your luck.especially after a night when you definately needed some sleep. I know its not too humane but when my cat starts acting like that I put him in the bathroom and go back to bed.

He's Frank James and his brother is Jesse Woodson James...and when Jesse is in BIG trouble I call him by all three names...just like Mom used to do. :lol

I'm thinking Frank as in Frank the Bunny from Donnie Darko -- he just haunts you day and night.

Tell us again why you don't put Frank in the bathroom? Maybe you get Frank a little playpen away from you...

Well, for one thing the bathroom is in my room. And that is horribly inhumane. And for another the litter box is in the bathroom so I can't lock Jesse out and I'm not going to lock him in with Frank if he didn't do anything wrong. Plus their food is in my room.

why not get some doggie doors and put up a little playpen for Frank further away from you?

Why is their food in your room? Good thing the cats aren't messy eaters, huh?

Hey, sorry that last response of mine sounded snarky and I didn't mean it to. :)

Their food is in my room because my pain in the ass roommate doesn't want their food in the kitchen.

Doggie doors won't work because it's a rented place. :(

I would like to clarify that when I put my cat in the bathroom his food and litterbox was placed in there with him, the facet drips so he actually enjoys drinking the water from the sink.
I had a roomate with a cat that would sneak into my room and attack me at night, it had claws to talk about a rude awakening.

what about doggie doors in your room? i guess it wouldn't help with noise...hmm. maybe you can soundproof frank? :imagines frank walking around with insulation tied to his paws: hahahahahha.

i don;t know. maybe you really do have to sleep with earplugs? or find a noise that will make frank stop meowing so loudly...like oceans or birds.

JadedLegend3

LOL Birds, right. Then he'd be running around trying to find them...actually, he wouldn't, Jesse would.

That's an idea though, the background noise I mean.

I can see it now... as Jacq tries to sleep :snore: you can hear the sounds of the surf :surf: crashing through the room... the sounds of horses :charge: clippity-clopping through the fields... the squeak of a playground swing :swing: ... soft music playing in the background :violin: ... the sound of a moped driving by :moped: ... followed closely by the sweet sound of a drive-by shooting... :sniper: ... and in the distance, ever-so-faintly, you're able to discern the muffled sound of that poor fellow in Massachusetts who just realized he wrote that he's "in LIKE" with Megan rather than "in LOVE" with Megan on the wall he's now banging his head against... :headbang: ...meanwhile, dear Frank is sittin' there :kitty: intently staring at the bedroom wall for no apparent reason still going........
MEOWWWWW!!!

:lol trubs, you crack me up!

I am utterly exhausted as I post this, but I feel awake still (if that makes any sense) so I am going to try to read a bit and then go to bed.

I'll let you all know how it goes tonight. Thanks for the continued support in these trying times. :lol

I just watched a show on Animal Planet that had an extremely vocal cat on it. The cat was really old and they determined also somewhat senile. Anyway, they made the cat an area to be her own, bed box, food and stuff in this little area and for some strange reason the cat calmed down. I guess cause she was senile it made her feel more comfortable with her own small area, it was small enough to become familiar and put her at ease.

Is that totally irrelevant? Sorry, just throwing out ideas.

My girl cat does that sometimes, but she's a big wimp so if I chase her away she usually stops for the night.

Good luck.

Well, the boys are only 5 years old (as of this past June 1st) so I don't think its senility. I appreciate the help, though!

Frank was quiet last night until about 8:30 this morning. So I just got up. Now he's sleeping on the dining room table. :lol
