A baby-blue Ford Anglia, which Harry and Ron "flew" in several of the Harry Potter films, has been stolen from an English film studio lot.
"For those who have not seen the Harry Potter films, this is the car that flies in the movies and is very well known," a police spokesman said Friday.
FROM JULY 18, 2005: Sixth 'Harry Potter' racks up platinum sales in U.K.
According to police, the 1960s-era car disappeared from the South West Film Studios at St. Agnes, in the county of Cornwall, sometime between Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.
The film prop was being stored outdoors under a tarpaulin but was visible from a road adjoining the studio lot.
The vehicle "was not in good condition and could not have been driven away under its own steam," the spokesman said, adding that authorities suspect the car was towed or fully lifted and removed from the property.
It's unknown whether the thieves were intent on pinching the vehicle to own a piece of Harry Potter memorabilia or whether they simply thought they were pilfering a classic car.
In the series, based on the books by J.K. Rowling, the magical Anglia belongs to the Weasley family, close friends of the titular boy wizard.
