I cant figure out about a couple of things here. Firstly did the rest of the crew just play along with the ancients little test on John (Dargo said at the end enough was enouth and looked bored) or was the whole thing an illusion? Did Aeryn and John really get in on in that case?
Please set my mind to rest!!

I understood it that D'Argo and the rest was sucked in by the Acients (sp?) and they used them in the trial the same way they used John.

What Nutty_Angel said. Aeryn, Rygel and D'Argo thought the simulation was real until they were removed from the 'game' at which point they were told the truth. They were used to test John's responses to certain stimuli. I never liked the Ancients, right from their first appearance - it is unethical to experiment with sentient beings and the Ancients are supposed to be advanced beings - not so much.
But to answer what I think was the initial intent of your question... John and Aeryn's first time was... yes... in "A Human Reaction".
