Well I'm in Hampshire and um there isn't really a alternative to kentish or English or Glaswegian or whatever. Just Hampshire man or Hampshire woman. I'd guess Hertferdshire is the same being a shire too.

I live in Hertfordshire - I just call myself English.
Counties are so small, there is little point in having names.
St. Albans - Roman Verulamium - is in Herts, and my village has the country's oldest cricket pavillion.
St. Albans and all through Hertfordshire was where Boudicca exacted her revenge on the Romans.
Her people were the Iceni - so I guess we are those :) - but the Catuvellauni were more or less THE Hertfordshire tribe
It is referred to as one of the Home Counties

I'm talking about in the sense that you call people Wisconsinites and Beloiters and Janesvillagers and Madisonians.

Seriously I think its hertfordshire man. There are some counties which have alternatives to calling them the full county name, Devon=devonian, Cornwall=Cornish etc. But the shire names tend to be based on the priciple town, in this case Hertford.
(Buckinghamshire-Buckingham, Yorkshire-York are other examples)
A hertfordian, could well be a man of the town of Hertford, so you would have to include the -shire suffix to differentiate between the town and the county.
Only exceptions to that I can think of for shire counties is Lancashire, were you could call them Lancastrians even though there is a town called Lancaster.
Some will come along and tell me that there are other exceptions I am sure. Like maybe a Leicestershire--rian :lol

Basically we don't because the county's aren't as big as your US States.
If someone says "where are you from?" we will most likely reply with our home town.
I'm from Hampshire - but specifically Portsmouth. I'd be called a Portsmouthian but I'm not sure that's so much as slang as anything else! lol We identify more with our home towns/citys rather than county.

Absolutely. I'm from Worcestershire and I certainly have never heard anyone refer to themselves as a Worcestershirian.
