With alot of gamers me included trying to get their hands on the new Xbox 360 some jerk does this:

Xbox Scene (http://www.xbox-scene.com/)
Some retard bought a Xbox 360 this morning, just to destroy it. People who actually wanted to OWN one of these launch units can look on in horror..

Pic at the end of post.

The next thing I found out is even worse...

Man robs EB store at gunpoint and trouble at Wal–Mart
Some gamers have gone to even greater extremes to get their hands on the Xbox 360 - like the man who robbed an Electronics Boutique store in Stafford, Virginia in the early hours yesterday. According to US website GameSpot, he held the store manager up at gunpoint and ordered him to hand over two Xbox 360s. Presumably ones with hard drives.
Luckily no one was hurt in the incident, and police managed to apprehend the man shortly after he left the store.

Police were also called to the Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania branch of Wal-Mart after shoppers waiting to pick up their consoles got rowdy. According to the Pennsylvania Times Leader, shoppers began queueing outside the store at 4pm. At around 11pm, said one eyewitness, people began "pushing and shoving" each other and police arrived on the scene.
They proceeded to hand out 48 vouchers which entitled the holders to return to the store at midnight and purchase their console, presumably on condition that they promised to behave themselves in the meantime.

Police sergeant Tom Elick told the Times Leader that there were no arrests, and that all those involved left the shop once the tickets had been handed out.
However, "We're going to have officers patrol the store throughout the night," he said.

All I can say is...WTF!? some people will do anything

When I saw this picture I almost cried...I would have taken that off his hands instead of him smashing the sh*t out of it, I would have even given him the money I have saved.
He should have sold it on E-bay, I saw one up there yesterday going for over 4 thousand dollars...that's crazy.

Yeah, but if he was a sadist, he would have found it very funny. :lol

I regret not reserving one so I could sell it on Ebay for a huge profit. I cant believe people are willing to pay all that for something they can just get a few weeks/months from now for a fairly normal price. I mean, they've waited this long, whats a few more months?

I'll buy mine next year when the rush is over.

All I can say is the The Xbox 360 is ok. BUt for it to look really good you HAVE to have a hd tv. Plus i would not wait in line forever for ME to shell out $400. I'll wait 6 months and the price will go down.

Hmmm... I think the idiot that destroyed his was trying to be shocking with his point that the extremes people are going to go through for a video game system are pointless ones.
Or something.
But either way Nintendo got thier money, so what do they care? Don't think he thought that one through.
Buying one off ebay for 1500 dollars is just dumb IMO. It isn't like they aren't going to make more! Sheesh!

I think so...

another one of those misguided souls who are trying to make some kind of point... and are lucky somebody doesn't go postal on them...

the site claims it's for entertainment value... something like give me money and I will make fanboys cry or something. Actually if there was some kind of point being made, that would be one thing, even if the intended effect didn't happen. Seems like this is more anonymous cruelty [or envy], where you can give them your money and they will smash an ipod or an xbox or who knows what will be next. Just so you can make yourself feel better for not having a ipod, I guess... Next they will be taking lunchmoney from kids at the behest of lazy bullies...

I suppose there is the possibility that the social experiment is REALLY to find out if people will give you a donation to do something they won't do themselves... but that would be kinda subtle.

I'm pretty sure if he was there, J Allard (Microsoft VP, chief engineer on the xbox 360, responsible for the ubermemo in 1993 that pushed Windows to connect to the internet) would tackle the guy and smack him with his own xbox.

Its his money...and once he has paid for it...his xbox....what he does with it after that is up to him. Seriously its not worth going postal on him or then he might actually have made his point. just a thought..

thing is, it wasn't HIS money...it was donations from a lot of people who for some reason or another, want to destroy it...shame, really.

i agree, if it was a statement against capitalism or against the consumer market or whatnot, that'd be different. for smashing a product simply for "entertainment" value (when you yourself did not happen to buy it) is just stupid and pointless. it really is about people who won't do that themselves, giving one person the power to do it. saying "i can donate 3 dollars toward this goal or i can spend 400 dollars to get my own xbox and do the same" most people would be too chicken to do the latter -- and would most likely admit to themselves that they'd rather keep the product and use it instead.

it's easy to go "WHOOHOO!" at a 3 dollar donation than it is to plunk down 400 dollars for an xbox 360 or an ipod, just to destroy it.

The fact that you are arguing semantics...."it wasn't HIS money" ....kinda suggest he has made his point. If peeps want to give him money, its his money....they know what they are donating it to him for....so no one has an argument with him over misusing thier hard earned cash.

He did what it said on the box....spent the money to buy an xbox and destroy it pubically..

My only problem with it is not that its an xbox, a new computer, a copy of Farscape, cause everyone is allowed to protest...but that it now going to be added to the pile of recycled electronics that get shipped abroad and taken to pieces by small children that get poisoned as a result.
