This post is an edited version of the original, because Red and I definitely are on the same page now.

Who is leading this group?

Who speaks for us? What are the other main groups involved in this fight? Do we have each other's actual email addresses? Do we know what exceptional skills and experience we all have that could be brought to bear? What is the best time for us all to try to meet rather than trying to catch each other on the board all day? Where is everyone geographically concentrated? Does anyone work directly in advertising? How about for a television station? How about for a magazine? A newspaper? What are the three most effective things we can do using our numbers?

Who knows? We don't. We don't because we can't answer these questions until we have a structure for posing, vetting and selecting from the answers. We are often in anonymous remote posting mode rather than sitting down, introducing ourselves to each other for real and focusing the amazing potential of this community. Unfortunately we run the risk of expending our energy in big, entropic circles if we can't stop moving without direction. Let's fix that.

This is a new thread. Answer the questions "Who are you, where are you, what do you do best?" But please ONLY answer those questions here. It doesn't need to be another fragmented idea thread. We have those. Ignore it if you want. But helping build this database adds to our strength.

edited because I believe Thirgen and I have cleared up our misunderstanding.

if you would like information on me here it is -

My name is Nina. I am 27 years old, a televsion writer, and I live in SoCal. I have managed this message board in one form or another since May of 2000. Prior to moving out here last year, I'd worked at an adverstising/marketing/publishing company for ten years.
I put up the original save farscape page on this site in an effort to have all the data the users on my board would need to yell at sci-fi, it grew quickly. Who knew 'Scapers were so determined? I'm very proud to be a part of this amazing community.

OK. Who I am is a male, 36 year old, semi-employed web master living an hour north of San Francisco in a town called Rohnert Park. It's south of Santa Rosa but north of Petaluma.
What I do best is catch a little green fish called a largemouth bass. But since that will do our cause no good, I'll stick to what could be more useful; my web mastering skills.
ASP, SQL, Flash, stupid Photoshop tricks, digital video & audio editing are all available for the cause. Give me a homework assignment and I'll get it done.
E-mail: cyoulden2002@yahoo.com
I'd give ya my URL but the friend who hosts it seems to have let his server go down. Whoops.

My name is Shannon, I'm a stay-at-home mom to two children, although I am currently trying to get a community theater production company started (it's on the back burner for now, too much going on). I live in San Diego, CA. I love to write, in fact I have some Journalism and Editing experience, plus I've had stories and poems of mine published online and in print. I'm good at generating ideas, and organizing them. I also love to plan events. Thanks!

Ah! There it is!

I've been looking this post, and I was beginning to despair of ever finding it. Of course, now that I found it, I realize that Red has already addressed all of your points better than I would, thirgen, so I decided not to repost my original reply to you. If you really want to hear it, PM me, and I will PM it back to you :)

In the meatime, I agree with Red -- this thread is a great idea! So, I am going to take this opportunity to tell you about myself.

My name is Katya; I am 24; I am female; I live near Boston, MA; I just graduated from Columbia; and I work at the Harvard School of Public Health doing statistical research (it would be great if I could help Eve11 with analyzing the ratings information, but I've sort of been too shy to ask, especially since she seems to be doing such a great job, and doesn't seem to need any help :) ).

I am not a very experienced web designer yet (as you can probably tell from my somewhat pathetic Rally Central page), but I've recently started to learn more about web design, and I am extremely interested in learning more. I know SQL and Zope, and I am eager to learn PHP. So if anyone is looking for someone to assist them with their webpage, I would be glad to help. It might take me a little while to pick things up, but I learn fast, and like I said, I am very eager to be of help :) (of course, with so many experienced web designers here, it's unlikely that anyone would need my services for anything :) )

I am also fairly good at writing, although again, I am by no means a professional, or as talented as some of the other writers here... *Sigh* I guess I am just doomed to be mediocre at everything :( (See, this is why I am glad I don't have to go to job interviews very often -- I absolutely suck at promoting myself :( ;) )

Still, I am quite good at math, and I do know a few things about statistics, and I know my way around SAS and STATA (these are two Statistical packages) quite well, so if anyone has a need for someone like that, I would be happy to help in any way that I can :aok:

My name is James or Jaime to my friends. I'm a Facility Manager by trade and make the hard decisions 24 and 7.

I am a tactician, not only from facilities, but from 7 years military, and am not afraid to be wrong. I believe in changing the direction of a moving force vs. trying to get it moving.

I'm not afraid of failure but will run screaming when someone wants to quit. With failure, you get to try again with more experience and information. When you quit, you get nothing.

I believe in being positive and saying what you want, vocalizing your dreams, not say, "maybe we shouldn't say that." Say it out loud so you can hear yourself speak the victory. Soon, you will believe it.

I'm not afraid of criticism because the most critical persons are also the most ineffectual. Ask my greatest detractors. If you are busy criticizing others, you are doing nothing to support the cause.

I am action. Don't say it unless you are doing it. Faith without works is DEAD!!! Period.

Taking orders or advice from credible people is not a weakness. If you want to be a millionaire, ask a millionaire, not the guy in the next cubicle over. I know I'm working on my first million. Are you?

ENTHUSIASM MAKES THE DIFFERENCE!!! I believe it with my whole heart. If you don't believe me, read the book, then try it for a week. People will ask you if you are on speed. One thing is for sure, they'll notice the difference.

I believe in victory, not the hope of victory. If you hope this campaign might work, reevaluate. If you have no other expectation than victory, then you can hold your head high no matter the outcome.

Who am I? I am Jaime. I am in Atlanta. I Lead. Do you want to motivate me? Tell me I can't do something!

Greetings then,

I'm Cal, a 24 year old, female resident of Northern Nevada. Carson City/Reno area to be more specific. My specialty is writing, mainly in the Fantasy genre, but I have dabbled a bit in Sci-Fi and Advertising. That's about it.

justanotherFSlvr

I'm Ron, a photographer--primarily portrait--in Sparks (Reno) Nevada. I usually deal with only four or five appointments per week, so my time is relatively flexible--that is, until I get behind in Photoshop work.

I can do some web work, but my knowledge is pretty archaic, being limited to simple html and very little javascript--only what I needed to build and maintain my Web site. I have some organizational abilities, having put together a couple of small (remember, this is Nevada :D) state conventions in the early '90s.

I've never been involved with any sort of campaign before, but obviously, we all recognize that Farscape is something quite different.

Wow! justanotherFSlvr/Ron, you're the first person I've seen online for the campaign who's also in Northern Nevada! I was beginning to think I was all alone out here.

I do. I agree completely.

My name is not important. I am 17. I am within the vicinity of Spokane, Washington. I am a student, so I don't have a specific JOB to use to help us, but I am pretty good with my old copy of Photoshop, and I'm told I'm a good writer. (Of everything BUT letters. Though I was told this by people who mostly just liked some funny, sarcastic things I said in a couple of movie reviews. So maybe I should say that humor is among the things I do best. Does that sound egotistical?)

My name is Becca, I'm 19, tomorrow I go back to college for my second year. I'm studying creative writing, so hopefully that's something I don't suck at.

Apart from that, I'm good at eating pizza and wasting time in comic book stores.

I'm in Britain, so there's limited things I can do to convince SciFi, but I *WILL* be going to the October 5th Rally in London, and I will/have been writing and emailing.

What else? Huh... Well, I work as a volunteer at Oxfam during term time, so I'm not afraid of hard work without pay... *g* So you guys know I'll be sticking around on this campaign, even if I can't drop by the forums so often after I'm in university. (Stupid computer lab opening times...)

Love,
Scape'

I'm good at writing, mostly, and I try to be good at organising. (Currently organising a Farscape weekend with three others. 35 people will participate in that weekend.) I'm enthusiastic about Farscape, and I'm persistent. I will stay with this campaign as long as it takes.

I'm divorced, and I have one son who is six years old.

I'm Kelley, 30 yo female, live just outside Washington, DC and work up near Baltimore. I'm a technical writer (with tons of free time at work due to it being a slow time right now), but until last year I ran a language lab (my degrees are in German/German Lit) so I know quite a bit about the legalities of showing copyrighted material in public, either for pay or not (basically, the answer is that it's illegal but up to you to take the risk). I have also worked as an editor for a small company that went belly up this past year (we put out lesbian romance novels--don't ask--but needless to say quality was not what the customers or authors seemed to want there). So, I'd say I'm also good at ripping things apart, making sure they make sense and are effective, and trying to get the grammar pretty close to perfect (just don't judge that on my posts here).

I also have some experience with webpage design (I know ColdFusion, HTML, JavaScript) but I'm not the best, that's for sure.

And I'm organizing the DC Rally for the 5th.

My name is Tillman Smoot, as you should know since I've been signing with my real name since day one. I live in Columbia, SC, I'm a IT professional, and have been pushing really really hard in town to get some local notice since Columbia is in the top 90 of the neilsons families.

I've been working on a press release folder to send out to the local newspapers when it comes time to reinvigorate our cause, flyers for the college, flyers to be put in the comic book store subscription folders, a State Newspaper ad, a Free Times Newspaper ad, etc.

Most of this won't see the light of day until it's time for the relaunch of our movement though.

My name is Katie and I'm a 30+ year old magazine circulation coordinator (and no, it's not a magazine that would do us any good to advertise in.) :( I live on the Eastern shores of Lake Michigan and my family thinks that I am surgically attached to my laptop computer.

- I love to read and I have good ideas but my writing skills stink.
- I love genealogy but that will get us no where in this campaign.
- I am good at using software but no good at writing it.
- I am good at organizing.
- I am good at research, especially on the Net.
- I am good at database design.

Like Tintallin, I beleive that we all need to shoot for the ultimate goal (2.0 IN 2003!) and that simply to hope is NOT enough. If you don't work for exactly what you want, you won't get exactly what you want.

I will not rest until we have a Season 5! Put me to work.

Count me in. I'd request that we use some other format than chorn though. I'm having lots of problems with it and it might be causing other folks problems as well. I definitely wanted to attend the chat (thank goodness for the transcript posted already) and if I can either fix my bugs or if we swap chat sites I'll be there.

Lyle, 28 male, Air Force Officer in Boston, MA. I work on the acquisition's side of the house and am willing to help wherever I can. I agree with tint that its time for us to organize a little more than we have been. So far though, the Wdsection crew has shown great leadership in the face of what's happened the last 3 weeks. To put things in perspective do you remember how normal all of your lives were prior to the cancellation? I know this has kind of pre-empted my life. Prior to the boneheads at scifi doing this I'd never gotten involved in letter/phone writing campaigns. I guess it goes to show the power of FS in bringing a divergent fan base to such extreme loyalty. hehe.

I think that ALL of this is helping and we're seeing the logical procession from a gaggle of peeps to an organized force.

I'm Ann-Marie. 35. I live in the Charlotte, NC area. I've got an BA in theater arts with an emphasis on technical design and an MBA as well. I make signs for a living. Sadly, one of my co-workers is on medical leave and we are slammed and doing overtime.
I love Farscape. It is the first show in a long time where I actually think about what is happening and ponder the cliffhanger. I am also getting royally annoyed at suits who can't see the big picture or don't have the cahones to stand up and take a contrary position to others when they know they are right. I feel it is time we all stood up to be counted, because Farscape is a show that if completed will continue to withstand the test of time. But really, who wants to watch 4/5 of a movie and not see the blackbuster ending. I am so glad to be able to do something to help.

My name is Annette Watlington, today is my 36th birthday, and I am probably the lamest person on this or anyother board since I don't own a computer. However, I spread the word about Farscape like a Mormon missionary! I turned my sister on to it last night and she said she LOVED it. She really wants me to get the first season dvd set and bring it over in December when I will be staying with her for a week. Of course we will also watch the Chain-reaction on scilie. I must admit I have had mixed results with turning other people on to FarScape. Part of the problem (which was my problem also at first) is the puppets. Rygel and Pilot really REALLY had to grow on me. I accepted Pilot first and Rygel later. ANY way, what else can I do? Well, like I said, I do not own a computer so I'm sort of not part of the internet campaign, but I am not shy about writing letters. Hell, I even wrote one to Speilberg! I come here as often as I can, tell others about the show and the campaign to save it, and I am open to any other NON computer related ways of being involved in this campaign. Farscape is a WONDERFUL show with the second best fans ever!! (Second only to Grateful Dead Freaks!) I am thankful that this is in place and I WILL keep up my part of the fight. Long Live FarScape! Long Live its FANS!!!:joy:

Yaaa! There is someone else in/near Spokane! I thought I was all alone!

Well I am a college student that runs the colleges biology department webserver. I can put some non-biology related things on the server (like the CNN footage, if anyone wants it) (and this is okay with my employers to a certain extent).

Most of the people I know in Spokane either only like the low brow T and A or like high brow but don't have Sci-Fi! Oh...the irony!

My name is Fredrick. I live in Connecticut and am 42 years old. I have been reading SF since I was eight and have a degree in its principals(!) I have written my own and was mentored briefly in the early '80s by Asimov and Sheckley.

My work background is in technology management, corporate communications, and television and editorial structure management consulting. At present, I am heading a start-up building next generation meeting technology. I am good at seeing the potential of different skill sets and collecting them into effective teams.

My name's Rhiannon, I'm a 25-year old PhD student in Pittsburgh. In Statistics, as I'm sure I've made known. Farscape and ice hockey were the two reasons I got cable, and I can live without ESPN. I got my dad and two sisters watching Farscape; every time I head across the state to visit, my dad is always saying, "So, you got any more of those Farscapes"? My sister is heading out to San Diego CA: cross-country trip, with a wanted posted in each back seat window of her car.

Katya, I'm not familiar with SAS or Stata very much (though I have colleagues who are), but I do know S-plus, which is a command line language. I'm not very savvy with front ends (web design, php, etc), but I can compile data and (hopefully) analyze it. I also know LaTex (for creating postscript documents) and very rudimentary HTML.

Teach
09-22-2002, 11:20 AM
My nic is Teach, my husband and friends call me Amy, my sons call me Mom, and you can guess what my students from the past 20 years have called me. I live outside Boston, MA.

Obviously, the bulk of my skills are most useful in a classroom. However, I can get a group of children to respectfully listen to me and each other, to love to meet a challenge, and show some understanding of spelling. I figure these skills have some use in this campaign. I've organised and led education conferences, and have developed excellent administrative skills. I'm a nitpicker, slightly obsessive when it matters, and always polite. I've also been told that I'm obnoxiously cheerful.

:rollin:

Since the cancellation, I've sent daily letters and faxes, made so many phone calls that I fully expect to be invited to Mr. Jackson's daughter's wedding, and held a "Farscape" party that resulted in 254 letters being sent and 18 families becoming Farscape junkies.

Put me to work. I also make a killer batch of brownies.

My name is Tom. I live in Long Beach, CA, just at the boundary where Los Angeles County meets Orange County. I'm 49.

I write corporate communications, design training and communications graphics, do production planning and make nicey with the suits in IT at my workplace.

I have good PageMaker/Quark skills, and am developing better PhotoShop and vector art abilities. I'm good at journalistic audio production and concert production, would like to get skills in video production.

Spouse Mary Lynn and I study fiction writing with Sheila Finch.

My degree is in Music/Voice, but I've been able to work more steadily in broadcasting, media production and opera production. I have run two small opera companies, and served in a technical capacity in one of the major houses in the world.

My greatest talents are 1) spotting other talent and identifying its best application, and 2) learning other people's languages.

I am no longer truly fluent in German, French and Italian, but some immersion would get me up and working again. I'm learning Spanish, have an eye and ear on Japanese and Russian.

We will not quit.

I’m Steven Schroeder, 33 cycles old and I live in Syracuse, NY. I'm pretty handy with PhotoShop (just got ver.7) I draw and paint, I’m also a so so web designer, newbie Flash user and a slowly improving 3D animator.
I’m not the best writer but I try.
Some samples of my are work can be see at www.schroedscape.com/mystuff.html (http://www.schroedscape.com/mystuff.html)
And some small pieces of 3D animation are at www.schroedscape.com/Media/html/flash_animation.htm (http://www.schroedscape.com/Media/html/flash_animation.htm)
But by day I work in a very hot warehouse (I must have to change cooling rods every half arn) sucks but pays the bills.

I just want to thank everyone for giving me a chance to help save Farscape.

My name is Stephanie (I know.. like you couldn't tell from my screen name :) ). I"m 28 and I've lived in the Dallas, TX area for about 4 years now. lol Just thought of something, if I live here another year and 1/2 this will be the longest I've lived anywhere in my entire life (I was an army brat).

I graduated from St. Lous U with a degree in Communications/Journalism, which was my second choice, but, my pilot lessens added up to more $$$ than I could afford out of pocket for my first major, Professional pilot. (I think I was too young too.. I'd probably be more dedicated to it now.)

Anyway, right now I"m a stay-at-home mommy of a 2 year old. My last job was working correspondance (complaint letters) for a cell phone company. (I really don't want to do that again... it was one of those first job you can find when you move somewhere kind of jobs LOL).

Before that I worked at a TV station in Evansville, IN as a producion assistant, which at that place meant I had to practically learn all the production jobs in the place... i.e. studio cameras, general studio stuff, cryron (sp?) (the graphics type machine thingy), run the main board, tape-tech, some editing, etc. (Hehe I even got to direct and do audio by myself once (well several times in one day) when the weather hit the fan during my tape tech/board Saturday morning shifts. Talk about scary.. I knew how to do it, in general, but, that big mixing board sure looks huge when you get pushed onto it without much notice to go "live" .

I'd like to do that job again, but, I guess it's harder to get this kind of job around here. Never see openings. OH hum are there any jobs out there requiring someone to land a small airplane, calm down complainers and broadcast it? LOL! I"m you're girl.

OK, since it seems everyone else is speaking up, I guess I should too. My name's Lance, I'm 32 and from Pittsburgh, PA (or as we call it, da 'burgh). I own my own multimedia development firm that has recently merged with another local printing company. I'm also finishing up my graduate degree in multimedia technology from Duquesne University. I know there's a ton of people volunteering help with web sites, but I can help too. Plus if there are any materials that need professionally printed, we can give a qoute on or at least help verify someone else's qoute. We are getting into some newer cutting edge print technology called variable data printing. Its kind of like the old mail merge, except we can now do a 4 color off-set print job that has different images and different text on every piece for about the same cost as a traditional 4 color print job. I did have any idea about using that to send post cards to the various contacts at the various networks. The more professional the mailings they get the better it looks.

But, I diverge.....oops! Let's see...I'm an Officer in the Air Force Reserves (just found out I made Capt!!!). I've worked in and around the IT and healthcare fields for around 10 years so far. I'm married with two lovely children. My wife pretty much hates Sci-Fi, but so far I've gotten her hooked on Babylon 5, Buffy and Farscape. In college I hosted and organized a few gaming and sci-fi conventions.

I'd love to help with the Saving Farscape anyway I can!!! Can I hear a Hell Yah!?

Hi! I'm Geoff, I'm 23 and live in London (England for the hicks ;) ). I have a masters degree in Physics with Astrophysics and I'm married with 2 step kids. I currently work at my local council which translates to spending the vast majority of the day online. I'm pretty well broke right now but have been emailing and free, online faxing Sci-Fi, UPN, Showtime, etc on a daily basis. I'm going to the London rally and am preapred to stay with this thing as long as it takes. What can I do? I can write pretty well, I can do maths, etc and problem solving and I'm learning Kung Fu so in a few months can probably come over and kick some arse if you guys really need it :D .

I'm Marilyn, 31 in Minnesota (Twin Cities area) .

I've been watching Farscape from the beginning and can't believe how stupid SCI-Fi Channel is.

Anyway I'm a research associate.

I'll try and help anyway I can. Would like to get a group together (since we are all busy) in MN to try and push the show and efforts more here.

Hi I'm Crissy, 31 yrs old, and live in the northern VA area (near Washington DC). Currently, I work as an IT analyst and do contract work for the government. I am also in graduate school for Instructional Design.

I don't know how much help I can be but I am willing to help any way I can. I have lots of varied computer experience, but not as extensive as other Farscape fans, especially in in the web area.

I live in Greenville, SC (USA). I"m a 26 year old computer nerd that had a fun time in the dot boom and I've been settled in as a lead developer during these last couple years doing some of the public websites for Michelin.

I got hooked on the show because of Ben actually. We went to the same college (http://www.furman.edu/~bryson/dramadept/benbrowder.html) and when I heard that someone from that small college had made it, well I watched a couple shows. Needless to say I was hooked.

Athena, 25/f living in the temperate paradise of Vancouver, Canada

I have a BA in Communications (aka media studies)... so I have some interest and familiarity with the media--in particular with the Canadian media. On a side note, I actually did a paper a long time ago called Shows that 'Live Long and Prosper': Cult TV and Cultural Populism (http://adwin.ca/athena/lit_221.html)--about television fandom and the power and influence that it has. I am currently working and going to school at the Center for Digital Imaging and Sound as a part-time student in their animation program.

I have also worked as a freelance graphic artist and web designer for the past four years. I have solid knowledge of HTML, Macromedia Fireworks, Flash, Photoshop, Corel Draw, etc.

I'm a new fan of Farscape--within the last 4 months--and although I have been aware of other save our show campaigns before I've never felt the need to take part in them... not until now.

Hey guys and gals,

My name is Alan, and I'm a 28 year-old graphic artist living in rural Tennessee.

When I'm not racing monster trucks and hunting bears, I'm one of those fancy-pants graphic designists.

Actually, graphic design is my full fledged Career of Choiceª, and I've been doing it for quite some time. I like to think I'm fairly decent and professional at it, but then the insane man always proclaims his sanity the loudest, doesn't he?

I'll be happy to lend my skills to the cause. You can email me at:

alanreynolds@mail.com

I know. Terribly creative for an artist.

Oh, and I mountain bike (my bike's name is Moya) and weightlift too, if anyone can see, uh, how that can benefit the Save Farscape campaign.

Long live Farscape!!!

It's pretty humbling to see the level of professionalism at this table but not surprising.

My name is Mike but my Internet persona is Buddybaba. Buddybaba is the head of The Church of the Door (as a way to get through walls). I believe as humans that we build walls to break through them.

5th season is a wall and we will break through. I have the highest confidence.

I am 55 and so far the oldest here. I currently work in one of the "Best" video stores in the world. If we don't have it we are either getting it or it ain't available. I have worked part time for eighteen years for them and make sure that we are current on Farscapes which are gaining in rentals. I have some access to video statistiics.

I've run businesses and an Art House movie theater in Charleston, SC (highs and lows of my life) I am in love with libraries and currently help run a second hand book store for the Friends of the Library in my town. We raise over 10,000 a year on non-payed volunteer staff with donated books. I know the value of volunteerism .

It's great to be here. We will make media history.

Hi!

My name's Tanya, and I'm one of them graphic designers/illustrators....

I live around NYC.

So far my war efforts have been on targeting local comic stores and gaming shops and leaving flyers and posters everywhere. I've made up a two-sided post-card flyer using the Wanted posters with the nifty graphic on one side and the info on the other side, and I'll post a new batch in a little while (when the old ones will run out).

I can do a whole lot more, in terms of creating take-a-card boards, and making more posters and flyers and stuff like that. I also have access to Fiery printer (for those who are not familiar, the print-outs from Fiery look almost as good as from a pro printing shop, that's what they use in Kinko's)

I may not have as much time as some other people, but if anyone needs a custom-made poster for a rally or customized poster (tailored to, say, be posted on campus of an art or design college) etc. do e-mail me at elfinity7@yahoo.com

Also, if anyone knows the font that is used for Farscape logo, PLEEEEASE let me know. SO far, I've just been fudging it... Thanks.

Tanya.

All my friends call me Hallie. I'm 30- and that is the first time I have admitted it in 'public'. :hi:
I live in Albany NY.
What I am good at is sarcasm and being a pest.
I have taken some creative and a technical writing class, but I have to say that everyone here is kicking my a** with your eloquence. Your passion for the show is really coming through!
I have been writing and will continue to write as many letters as I have to as well as send emails and faxes.
I work long hours so my time is limited, but I will do whatever I can. I am planning on distributing flyers when the time comes for it to make the most impact.
SciFi got my Irish up and I am not easily turned from my chosen course of action!!!
So add that to my asset list: I'm tenacious and very very patient.

My name's Susan, I'm 27-year-old librarian in the cornfields of Dayton, OH. This officially means I am great at researching, but recently it has come to mean that I can reboot computers well and kick printers into submission. I have a degree in professional writing... mainly technical writing -- manuals, user guides, etc. Not much in the way of creative writing. But if you have a grammar question, I'm your girl. I know rudimentary HTML, and that's about it in the way of computer "stuff," but I learn skills quickly.

I'm don't have much experience in the way of organizing huge campaigns, but if there is a job to be done that will further the cause of saving Farscape, I will do all I can. :aok:

My name is Saska and I'm a 28 year old former Silicon Valley goldl miner. :) I've gotten out of the computer tech industry and into the nuclear safety field, but I didn't lose any of my skills. I now live in the Seattle area.

I am a passable webmaster and a good Unix system administrator; I'm a two-time state debate champion, a trained public speaker and a pretty good writer. I also have a strong background in marketing technology, especially to the kind of demographic we have the best chance of success converting to Farscape fandom. I have real experience with getting advertising results using local cable ad insertion, radio advertising, and print advertising in entertainment media. (A 750% subscriber-base increase in 2 months for an Internet Service Provider is my best claim to fame in that arena.)

I'm willing to help strategize, write copy, write letters for adaptation that other people can use... there seem to be plenty of webmasters who are more skilled than I am, so I doubt the necessity of my doing that. I can run a pretty beefy IRC server if we eventually want to have a better place to chat than SciFi's server, although I've been privately told that Barbarella would prefer to keep it on SciFi because of the accessibility.

So that's me.

Things I do best: research, analysis (stats, financial, database mining), strategic planning, brand/image management, quality control, process management, database design and management, team development, writing, editing, public speaking, guitar, singing, & songwriting.

Moreover, I am a former active-duty United States Marine whose patience has all but vanished for those out-of-touch "captains of the media industry." My message to them is simple: lead, follow, or get the the hell out of my way:mad::finger:

While I'm currently a student in Rutgers, School of Engineering, what I really want to do is broadcast/movie level 3D CGI. I'm willing to help out as much as I can with anything anyone needs. I am planning on hitting the winter cons (3 in my area, that I'll be attending before Christmas) and plastering them with posters.

I also plan to stock the local gaming stores with flyers.

I'll take any suggestions folks have as far as doing more for the cause...

I am Lainie, a woman of a certain age, from Seattle, Washington. I am a lawyer, presently working as an industrial appeals judge (it is sort of like an administrative law judge, only we use the rules of evidence and civil rules). My legal experience is more in the area of personal injury than copyright law, but I am familiar with legal research and have access to my husband who still practices law and who is a legal scholar. I guess I am offering to pick his brain on areas in which I am not an expert.

I am impressed with the skills so many of you have with regard to creating web pages, etc. I confess, much of the technical stuff you so discuss is Greek to me. I am a fairly decent writer and editor, but not sure what I have to offer. Perhaps someone could give me an assignment. I can, however, donate money.

I'm Robin, 28, in Montreal.

I'm a project manager for a multimedia company that specializes in medical training programs (former medical editor for same). I have a BSc in chemistry.

What I do all day: schedule, reschedule, nag (sorry, send gentle reminders to) clients, beg for timeline extensions, nag programmers and graphic artists, send things to clients, beg for programmers and graphic artists... you get the picture. Nag and beg, that's me.

I'm good at writing, editing, proofing, quality control and research. I'm interested in website usability. I know the basic principles of PR. I can use Dreamweaver and Photoshop if nothing fancy is required. I do a decent if unexciting page layout. My current specialty is incredibly tactful emails. I'm organized (although kind of swamped at present). I'm going to be working on some local Save Farscape stuff in Montreal, and I want to help out any way I can.

(Edited to add that I also speak French. I can't quite see how this will be relevant or useful, but you never know, right? I used to know Latin as well, but most of it's gone now.)

That's about it... you can reach me at robin_marwick@hotmail.com.

I'm Kris, a 24-year-old MBA student in Phoenix, Arizona. I have a BA in Journalism with an emphasis on public relations.

I was a securities broker until the bottom fell out of the market and I currently write corporate communications for a cable provider while attending graduate school full-time.

My skills include writing press releases, designing PR campaigns, event coordination, investing, and generally crunching numbers. Needless to say, my time is a little limited. But I'm great at writing under deadline pressure and I've started using that to turn out as many letters as I can in my spare time.

I can bumble my way through Photoshop well enough, but I'm no pro. I do, however, have some awesome buddies who'll take on design projects just for the challenge. We've been working on flyers and postcards that my husband distributes while I'm at work and in class.

My greatest resource is definitely my hubby, Justin. He's still in financial services and could seriously sell anything to anyone.

We're certainly not what you would call leaders in this campaign, but I thought it might help to know what's in the arsenal. Both my husband and I would be happy to help out in any way we can. You can email us at scaper@cox.net.

Hiya! I am Mary, a 44 year old who has loved science fiction since I can remember. I am a nurse with a masters' degree and specialize in pain management. I am currently taking a break from nursing because my husband is on a 2 year assignment to the UK (we moved here from San Diego area), and am trying to soak up everything I can about the British culture. It is a wonderful adventure. We have a 9 year old daughter who also loves Farscape. We live in a very small village (2 pubs and a windmill) in Kent, which is southeast of London.

Skills that I can bring to the cause: I am a pretty good writer (nonfiction) & have been published in nursing journals and textbooks. I have also edited a newsletter, so I can proof material. I have organized complex educational programs, done some public speaking, and taught nursing at the college level (both in lecture and clinical settings)- so I have experience in changing behavior! I am good a analyzing situations and looking at the big picture. Overall, I am a positive thinker, and always look at the bright side.

I do have lots of spare time to offer, even though I live in a pretty rural area. I am willing to work towards saving our show!

Hello to everyone -

My name is Tiffany, I am 31 years old, I live in St. Paul, MN and my credentials are similar to Teach's; I'm a Special Ed teacher, with my area of specialty being Deaf and Hard of Hearing (I can sign and a few of my kids use signs or ASL to communicate, but most of my kids wear hearing aids and are oral speakers, so they don't need the visual communication mode).

My strong skills, other than making learning fun for kids, are more office/paperpushing-related, since special ed teachers have to do so much documenting and report writing in our work. I can make phone calls, write letters, and organize things. In terms in technology, I am familiar with MS Office and I did do some website design work using FrontPage, but that was a few years ago and I had help.

I've been a Farscape fan since I stumbled onto the Season One Finale on a Friday night, and I've been hooked ever since! It's a rare show that combines so many creative elements and does not dumb things down to its audience!

I'd be happy to help in whatever way I can. I think the suggestions to have a organizational leader and to eventually create Farscape chapters nationwide are excellent ideas!

Hello there

My name is Karen, I am a 31 year old biochemist by trade and a single mom of two by profession. :) I am also a moderator of the Farscape forum at a cult TV Sci Fi site, where I have been reporting on the campaign. I also update a farscape newsfeed (or will be, once my access is granted) in which I will be posting any updates and news item pertiment to the campaign. This newsfeed is a Java script that can be pasted into web pages, providing constant news updates as I post them.

The link to the newsfeed can be found here: http://www.sadgeezer.com/newsfeeds.htm#webmasters

The Forum is here: http://www.sadgeezer.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

I really encourage people to come in and post about Farscape, as the owner is very sympathetic, and since this is a general cult TV site, the information will reach a much wider audience than just hardcore Farscape fans.

If you have news or would like to contact me to let me know how I can be of more help: farscapenews@inbetweenplaces.com

Hello! My name is Rhonda I'm 27 and I'm addicted to Farscape ("Hello Rhonda" says the room...sorry...couldn't help it:P ) I live in Canby, Oregon. I've been married 8 1/2yrs and I have 2 boys ages 8 and 6. As far as education and computer knowledge most of you are so far up the ladder that I'm pretty much just on a step stool. But I'm right up there with you all on enthusiasm and drive to save our show. I work 3 days a week as a fuel desk cashier at a truck stop. I work only with the truck drivers so I've become very good at diffusing very intense situations and handling big tough men. I've also learned how not to take any dren from anyone so that helps in other areas of my life as well. When my youngest son begins 1st grade next year I'll finally be starting my college years. But what I lack in education I make up in enthusiasm! I never even bothered to watch Sci Fi before my husband (who is an NT Admin) got me hooked on FS. It is the only show I make time to watch. It is the best show ever, period. It is so unique and compelling. If I was more eloquent I could express how much I love this show but I can only express it by saying that Sci Fi cancelling this show broke my heart. But not being one to bow to defeat I will not give up. My spirit is on fire with intensity on saving this show. I will gladly help in any way that I can. I can be reached at sillygoose250@excite.com

Name's Joe, age 25. Currently living in Atlanta, GA. Fairly fresh outta college.. currently working as a Linux sysadmin/web admin/web hosting admin for a small computer company.

I'm a programmer.. C/C++, perl, VB(A), MS Access, COBOL, HTML, PHP, NWscript.. if it lets me tell the computer what to do, chances are I've at least dabbled in it and can probably pick it up in short order.

I dabble in graphics.. 3D rendering using POVray, 2D graphics with Paint Shop Pro. Quality varies, though.. sometimes things come out perfect, other times I can't get anything to come out right. I do have more luck with 3D than 2D, usually. :)

I'm generally best at taking someone's idea of how something should look or act and making it reality. Also pretty good at tossing out random thoughts that set people's minds turning. Point me in a good direction, and I'll carry it through.

Hi, My name is Terri and I am 41. I am a desertscaper, living in Phoenix, AZ., where the weather is too hot for me 6 months a year! I have two boys, 15 & 10. I work in the healthcare field, as a medical record coder. For those who don't know what that is, I will explain. I read operative reports, physician consults, hospital visits, pathology reports, etc, and "turn" the service into a five digit code which "describes" what was done for the patient. It is used by insurance companies for billing purposes. I also can find a diagnosis code for anything that could be wrong with a person! So, I guess being able to decipher bad handwriting would be one of my skills. I drive around the NW part of the Valley for my job, so I could be sort of a delivery person, for what ever needed to be moved (as long as it would fit in my car). My computer skills are limited to typing and 10-key data entry.

I have watched Farscape since the premier, and been a Scaper since episode 3. I thought I was alone in this hot place, but have recently read posts from three other Scapers. My husband is a no-scaper, and the kids are semi-scapers. (My 10 yr old says he will spread the word at school, so maybe he will be a full scaper)

I want to organize, or join a Phoenix area rally. I could help with first aid, or ???? I am willing to do what I can to help Farscape. Unfortunately, I am not one of the wealthy scapers, and don't really have the support of my S.O. He told me to "get over it".
But I won't! I am with this to the end, or until DK says STOP! Terri

Hello everyone,

My name is Natalie, I'm 29 years old and live in a small coastal town in North Queensland, Australia. I work as an Information Technology Manager and spend my days in (and I mean literally :) ) and around computer equipment.

I have to admit that I've only seen a few episodes of Farscape, Australian TV sucks with the programming of shows - it was difficult to see it here, crazy I know - but anyway, I fell in love with it even after such limited exposure. :)

It's criminal that TPTB cancel these things, it's happened to me before with other much loved shows, and I reckon it's time something was done!

So, whatever you need doing, if I can help, count me in!

I'm 47 years old with degrees in Nuclear Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, currently on summer leave from the Telecom meltdown here in Silicon Valley and studying Nanotechnology, looking to catch the next big wave...And folks, no matter how down things seem some times, there's ALWAYS a next big wave:aok:

I stumbled upon Farscape towards the end of season 2 and have been absolutely fixated ever since. The only time I've been hooked this bad is the series premiere of the original Star Trek series. At the tender age of 15 I fought the good fight to bring it back, and believe me, we've got way more mojo than THAT movement. Which is only fitting, because Farscape grabs the hearts, minds and genetalia of the unwitting viewer with a grip not seen in forty years.

I'm good at communication, creativity, project management, art, organization, and diplomacy (though when I first heard of this travesty, my skin started to get a little orange and rocky. It's not Clobberin' Time, but I understand the compulsion). I have a friend who has a company that just started a website for SCI-FI fans called fangalaxy.com. It's a little rough right now, but has potential, and they are eager to help the cause.

This last week has been a haze of letters, e-mails and phone calls. I will be a real activist in the next few months, and will definitely be a part of the Oct. 5 SF rally. Anyone local who wants to collaborate and commiserate, I'm your Tavlek.

Hi. My name is Jill and my husband is Eric. We live in Wallingford, CT and want to do everything we can to SAVE FARSCAPE. I am a freelance writer and editor, mainly doing commercial writing for businesses (brochures, newsletters, etc.). My husband is a restaurant manager and construction guru. (I'm not sure we'll need any structures built to save farscape, but if we do, he's your guy!)

I have some knowledge of marketing, advertising, journalism, web site design, graphic design, and photography. If you have need of me please let me know! I'm currently trying to contact other Connecticut Scapers. Please contact me if you live in the area. Thanks!

I'm really into the Fantasy genre, and I love Farscape for the characters, story, and the fantasy undertones to the technology. I was crushed when I heard that my favorite show was cancelled.

If there is anything that I can do to help (between client jobs) let me know.

I'm also the creator of an online fantasy world called Agyris:

Keep spreading the word about Farscape.

My name is Jennifer. I'm 29, single, and live in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. (BTW, a warm hello to the two other FL residents who posted--hope to see you in Orlando for the 10/5 rally:D )

My job title is Research Industry Specialist, Technology and emerging Markets. My company produces newsletters, Web letters and other customer communications pieces for our clients. I basically read industry publications for the following industries: cable, telecom, travel, retail and automotive.

We're big on marketing and industry trends, so I'm pretty up to date on what demographics the networks target, as well as general marketing trends. I'm also pretty good at researching stuff.

I was an english major for the two years I went to college, and am very good at editing and grammar. My writing is fairly good, but I'm more than willing to let those better than me take the lead.

I've loved scifi and fantasy ever since I ws a kid. Ann Mccaffery's "The Dragonriders of Pern" 3-1 SFBC anthology was the first "grown-up" book I ever read, and I've been hopelessly addicted ever since.

I'm willing to do whatever I can to help save this show. As I have told many of my friends, Farscape is the best show--scifi or otherwise--ever to have graced the small screen. It's obvious to me that TPTB at SciFi have NO taste, or they'd have kept this show on FOREVER!:rollin:

I'm valerie, a 35 yo complex systems scientist and writer; my husband is a sysadmin, dba, and voiceover artist. He would be willing to do some voiceover or radio spots; i'm willing to write .
Aside from those obvious things.. i do some minimal webdesign (www.global-dialog.org) and can volunteer some resources - email lists on my listserv, alternative chat rooms if people want them for serious use - i.e. discusson for committed members etc, or an online conference for planning.

Other skills and strengths:
-good at analyzing the big picture
-good at strategy and longterm thinking ( I have some suggestions there, btw - is there a longterm campaign planned out? if not, am willing to help on that)
-excellent editor

Just to throw in a suggestion here.. given the demographics of the people responding to this thread, some kind of demographic survey of Farscape fans might be helpful- tech advertisers especially should find 'scapers an attractive group. I doubt the demographic survey could be done scientifically, but a place to compile statistics on 'scapers could be a tremendous tool (" of the 3000 people who participated, 80% were in the 21-35 year old range with over $50K household income and have at least two computers at home").

If there is a lon-gterm plan covering up until the January season, please point me to it! Otherwise, i suggest we have one. :)

but I'm a graphic designer too. I'm 38, live in Boone, NC and run a web/publications department. I'm certified in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc, etc., etc., and I'm pretty good at web stuff too. I have access to color laser printers that can put out professional looking posters, flyers, brochures, etc., and I also handle video, audio and photographer (I'm the Jill of all Trades 'round here).

I also have an English degree and a background in editing and proofreading.

I'm also (obviously) a die-hard FS fan and I will do whatever anyone asks of me to help save this show. So give me an assignment and a deadline, I'm your girl!

My name is Daniel and I live in Los Angeles. I am 40 years old and I am a CPA. I have two small children and a dog. I love science fiction and I am a avid reader of science fiction novels.

My hobby is home theater and I currently have a front projector with a 92 inch diaganally wide screen. I can be very helpful if anyone wants to setup a something so alot of people can watch on a very big screen with good sound

The cancellation of Farscape was the straw the broke the camels back as I have gone through many shows that have been cancelled before it was completed. This show is something special and I will work hard to make it come back.

I'm just honoured to be a part of this thread - what interesting people you are. To quote two others: "Farscape grabs the hearts, minds and genetalia of the unwitting viewer with a grip not seen in forty years" and "We are farscape". Send this thread to TPTB quick.

I'm Alison, female 36, living in the UK. What I do best is tell other people what they're doing wrong - but in a nice way. I'm a Project Manager & Quality Manager for a very small (14 staff) web development company, specialising in the motor finance industry (yawn). I spend much of my time testing web applications, analysing customer requirements, translating into developer-speak and writing management reports. I also have a strange compulsion for writing and improving procedures.

I've been in IT for 15 years, 13 for an international company losing the bulk of my (coding) work when the mainframe was switched off. In my spare time I have taught myself basic HTML, CSS & Javascript using Dreamweaver and basic manipulation of images using Fireworks to allow me to publish websites for very small audiences - my village, ex-colleagues, photography friends. Photography is my favourite hobby but I am my own worst critic.

I don't know what I could do for the cause, but try me. I have been a Farscape fan since BC (before Chiana) and have never been this obsessed about a TV show. I'm not particularly drawn to sci-fi but love to watch engrossing large and small screen entertainment. Farscape is the best thing I've seen since .... ?

My name is Jenny. I live in Western Washington (Seattle area). I'm 23 and have a bachelor's degree in Drama.

Sadly, I still work in the realm of retail, so my profession would be of little help in this instance.

I can write letters. I can attend rallies (if we have one in the Pacific Northwest). I frequent video stores, book stores and comic shops, so I can and have been getting the word out through those mediums. I check in frequently at as many Farscape bboards as I can. I can gather information and distribute it. I'm also very good at following instructions.

I have some grassroots community organizing experience. I'm a decent writer, I can work with databases, I've organized special events, and I'm pretty creative. My names Angie and I'm 32 and an Assistant Financial Accountant for a large NHS Trust. I'm in England and have loved the show since I caught Nerve on the BBC.. After seeing half of that episode I was compelled to go back and buy all the series on VHS tape...

As for what I can do..well I can stagger around in dreamweaver and photoshop and run www.benbrowder.co.uk, so I have webspace and a domain. I can also do VAT and tax returns.. :D Though I somehow feel that maybe that *won't* help the cause.. :rollin:

As a UK fan I do infact spend a great deal on US merchandise to do with Farscape including your Region 1 DVD's. So we do have some input into the monies being generated in revenue for the show..

Also..did I mention I'm tenacious as Hades and will do whatever I can within my financial and physical limitations to do what I can to save this show.. ? Not only for my own purely selfish reasons but also to get the cast and crew their livelihoods and dream back.. So I'm here to resurrect dreams. :)

Hey everyone

my name is Denise and I am a UK fan. I live just outside London in a place called Reading. I am currently studying biology, which is not an easy subject to say the least! This campaign to save Farscape takes my mind of my study woes. I am a Farscape addict - it has reached all the cells in my body via an electric shock from the television!!!

I have written, e-mailed on behalf of the campaign - I wish I could do more. I have also made a donation to Barb's site in order that Gigi, Lani and Paul can go to Atlanta - I hope this happens.

Hi y'all! What an impressive assembly of eminently discriminating tastes!

I'm Kathy from Choo-Choo Town (hey! to fellow Tennesseans), 43 yo health care marketing director; single in the 'burbs with four felony felines; in possession of a cinema/TV degree with some experience in wardrobing -- ahem! -- costuming; did time at a couple of big-city newspapers editing -- and would fight tooth and nail for a good non-repro; parlayed "page layout flunkie" into "graphic designer"; and ended up in marketing where my checkered past really has come in handy!

Anyway, I'm a good analyst -- and an even better one after a glass of wine; a markedly above-average writer and editor; an occasionally clever designer and copywriter, and competent enough in Pagemaker, Photoshop, Freehand, InDesign, Distiller, MS Office; have conceptualized TV commercials; good eye for spotting unique promotional goodies; am a card-carrying family member of genetically superior sarcastic wits (my 84 yo aunt is Den Mo'); I can be mature and no-nonsense when warranted -- just ask my sales reps, and enough of a flippant imp to cast bon non sequiturs when I frellin' feel like it!

When I was 18, attended two L.A. Star Trek conventions (right before Star Wars first came out!) -- and haven't been inclined to since. But .... I love Farscape! and I love helping to make fans out of my family and friends -- why not the rest of the world?!

My name is Elizabeth Barrett. I'm 25 years old and a third year graduate student in astronomy at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu (and a gymnastics coach). I grew up an army brat so I'm used to moving all the time; I've lived in places from Hawaii to Bosnia. Folks live near Ft. Hood, TX now.

I don't have many special skills that will be of particular use to the campaign. I can nitpick episodes wrt astronomy facts. I can do trained monkey work (aka grad student work). I can entice people to come to Hawaii to do Farscape work with me! :D Overall, I am willing to do whatever I can to help Save Farscape.

If anyone else is in Hawaii or knows someone else who is, then let me know (barrett@ifa.hawaii.edu). We need all the numbers we can get.

Hope, that's what keeps me going.

I'm Ann White, 37-year-old Federal bureaucrat. :D What do I do best? Well, most of you have seen my KOBA-TV videos. I also write pretty well, and am a good organizer. I do web pages, but there's a lot of people who are better than I am and have the time to put into it. ;) Between the vidding, writing, and other stuff, I'd say what I do best is network people and get information out. I'm a veteran of several show-saving campaigns, starting with Twin Peaks, Earth 2, and Space: Above and Beyond.

I have a husband who is also a big fan of the show, as well as several co-workers: most of whom had never written a letter in support of a show until I asked them to do so for Farscape. I'm also Vice President of a Sci-Fi/Comic Book club at the Agency where I work, and I've rallied those troops, too.

Frankly, I'm inclined to step back a bit until December, like DK advised. The first couple of weeks, we were all in shock and trying to solve the cancellation ASAP. But we're in it for the long haul, and there's really nothing that we can do until January. If we keep pushing, we'll only burn out before the last 11 episodes air.

I just discovered Farscape at the beginning of S4, and will be very disappointed if it is cancelled. I think it's a totally awesome show. I haven't been in here much because my resources are limited and I'm not sure what I can do to contribute to the campaign. I write well but I'm not a computer whiz or anything like that.

Hi - I'm Kat. I'm a 40 something, female, software engineer/developer (I'm getting pretty good at this demographic crap) from Ohio.

I have a BA in Sociology and a BS in Computer Science. I don't have much experience w/the front end of the internet (I mostly design applications and background architecture for B2B connectivity utilizing the internet).

I got hooked on Farscape about the middle of the 2nd season. In fact I was so intrigued by the story line that I actually purchased the tapes for season 1 (a first for me - I never purchase tapes of TV shows!).

My job keeps me pretty busy and I won't have the time to spend on saving Farscape like I've been doing for the last several weeks. However, I do want to help in any way I can.

I can help w/research, letter writing (if somone else could do the composing), etc. Or give me any kind of assignment that I can work on on my own time.

Here's my email addy:

PS: I ordered the Box Set of Season 1 last week and I don't even have a DVD player yet! I've just been procrastinating - maybe this will spur me on! :rollin:

South Fallsburg, NY - 2 hours northwest of NYC. I am 47, mother of 3 grown children, wife of a rabbi. I design the artwork for a weekly community publication delivered directly into 27,000 homes in my area (advertising only, no reporting).

I currently run a small "Save Farscape" ad in my publication and could easily run larger ads, even a full page, for a reduced fee. But I'm not sure it's worth it for only 27,000 homes. BUT all those homes get the Scifi Channel because EVERYONE has cable or such and Scifi is basic here.

If you give me a task, I will loyally follow through for you. email is efine@mac.com PLEASE USE ME!

My name is Rob. I live in New York. I am 21 years old. My favorite things to do are watch "Farscape," "Buffy," and "Six Feet Under." I love these shows for their extreme offbeatness, all around wackiness, and amazingly deep characters. I have websites for "Six Feet Under" and "Buffy" and have wanted to make a "Farscape" one for the longest time, but I barely have the time to keep up the ones I already have!

I'm best at writing, although you may not be able to tell from this post. lol. I'm doing 8 things at once while typing this.

I'd love to help out as much as I can in the "Save Farscape" campaign. So far, I've sent at least 8 letters to every address that have been posted at the site, have sent countless e-mails to all the address, and a bunch of phone messages, too. I've also sent faxes. I hope to attend the NY group in the upcoming Global Rally.

My name is Jill, and I'm a 27 year old secretary. I'm currently living in Troy, NY (near Albany), but am a native of the NY metropolitain region. I was an English major in college, and damned good at it, if I do say so myself. I have in the past worked for the sales department of a small record label, and helped to write copy for their promotional material. I am also the co moderator of the message board at http://www.tenaciousd.com, where I have added a Save Farscape link to my signature in order to attract more people to helping save Farscape. I only just found out about this situation, and am doing my best to do my part to help save Farscape. I'm currently working at a college, where I will endeavor to make our cause known; at the very least, I can post up a couple of the signs I've seen around the site. One of the nice things about being a secretary is, I can make as many copies as I like. ;-)
I'm pleasantly pleased to see the astonishing response to Farscape's plight, as well as the obvious intelligence of the fan community. I can't tell you how much I regret not having been here sooner!

*Morning after edit* - I've been going around campus, posting up Save Farscape posters, at every opportunity this morning. Later on, I'm hoping to make it up to the Student Union, and put up more.

I'm Joan Hedman. I've been writing about Farscape since the middle of the first season. At this point, I've had three different sites devoted to it, but I'm pretty sure that FarscapeWeekly (http://www.farscapeweekly.com) is the one that's gonna survive.

I'm 39 years old, have 3 children under the age of 6, and am currently dealing with thyroid, adrenal, and other medical problems. And then Farscape got cancelled! Helluva year.

What I'm good at: I put out an eZine every week during new episodes (hence the "weekly" part of the domain name, LOL) which reaches about 650 people now. (I just noticed last week that Tom Vitale is one of them!) Before all this happened, the eZine included a news digest, trivia items, and fun stuff related to the actors, characters, and interesting Farscape items from the web.

Since the cancellation, my main focus has been distilling information into easily digestible bits, and trying to correct any misinformation that I see out there. To that end, I've written two pieces, The Farscape Cancellation FAQ (http://www.farscapeweekly.com/ezines/eZine_15Sep02.htm#FAQ), and Spin & Counterspin: Rebutting SCI FI's Farscape Cancellation FAQ (http://www.farscapeweekly.com/spin.htm).

The eZines now focus on getting out the top-level news: links to chat transcripts and important announcements, an overview of media coverage, etc.

My strengths are researching and reporting. I'm also good at analysis and have an inside track on ratings data, but it seems like that is already being covered. I'm also excellent at finding contact info (I have several contacts at Henson), making telephone calls, confirming information and passing that info along (you can see what I mean by this in articles over at FarscapeWeekly -- I talked to SCI FI's programming dept about the S4 hiatus, I contacted FoxTel in Australia about their new involvement with the show, etc). When the news broke, I spent hours the night of the 6th emailing the info to dozens of online scifi news sites.

Since I'm dealing with these annoying health issues and am my kids' primary caregiver, my in-person time is limited but my online time, especially "after hours" is not, LOL. My children are also amazingly well-behaved (for a short time, at least) when I'm on the phone, so phone calls, interviews, confirmations, whatever are definitely something I can handle. (I did phone surveys for a company collecting info on factory asset management and automation one summer -- I am fearless.)

I do want to apologize for not chiming in here earlier. My online time comes in fits and snatches these days, and I'm only just catching up here after becoming involved in The Advertising Fund thread via a post in the alt.tv.farscape newsgroup.

I'm Jeanette. I'm 26 years old and live in Kansas City, on the Missouri side. I'm a professional writer, working as assistant editor for a large suburban newspaper chain. I've been doing the lists, writing letters, faxing, pestering, sending flowers.... everything I can think of. I'm also a moderator at an X-Men forum where I drive them crazy with my pleas to save the show -- a few of them have even decided to help! My skills are in writing, editing and multimedia. I've worked on CDRs, and one of my babies is published as a textbook suppliment by St. Martin's Press. I'm not so bad with Photoshop, and have extensive layout experience in Quark Xpress.

I'll also introduce my husband, who I sucked into the Farscape phenomenon. He's Scott. He's 27 years old and is also a professional writer. He loves organizing things, though he's a little swamped at work this month. Later on he may be able to donate some time to the cause. His strengths are writing, media law and also Quark Xpress layout.

We'll be attending a comic con in Minnesota on the 5th, and we plan to wear Farscape t-shirts and hand out fliers at the show. We're also putting out fliers at all the local comic shops in the KC area.

I'll also add my dad to the list, he's another of my recruits. He's a postal employee and so could probably advise us on mass mailings or any postal questions.

Let us know how we can help out!:aok:

Me: Jim Shannon (aka Captain Seamus O'Shannon, the Paisley Pirate) 37 y/o male, married, 2 girls, living in Kansas (nearly a lifer (except a few months on the left coast, and a few months in KC, MO (but that is almost KS!)

What I do to make money: Sales. Right now, paint. Have sold industrial components, parts, car stuff, cars, advertising, ad naseum....

What I like to do: Fencing. Specifically renaissance fencing. I have started 2 fencing clubs to do same. I teach fencing (having my masters cert. in collegiate fencing) for fun. I get in front of crowds at Ren Faires and give an educational talk about the history of the duel, and fight with the weapons all out! What is really fun now is that my daughters are finally getting to an age that they can participate also! :jedi:

My wife and I are ordained ministers also, and we carry our ministry to the world by example. I ain't gonna preach at you, but if you watch me long enough, you'll know exactly from whence I came. We are straight, but not narrow, and I ain't one to back away from my beliefs (see job, first thing I do for fun, next...)

I also like to play with my sports-car-in-a-box, a 1984 Volvo 245GLTi (turbo-charged, intercooled, manual transmission station wagon) 17psi boost (more than double normal), runs low 14s. Scares most Mustang drivers. Used to race SCCA SSB in my younger days, then went to Solo-II for a while. Now I drive normally most of the time in my POS company car... :vroom:

Used to do a bunch of CG stuff, was a severe power Amiga user (and had the original Lightwave, etc. etc....) but got away from that with too much other life going on around me, and got eaten by Microsoft a few years ago, (as is oft quoted...Assimilated by Microsoft, Resistance was Futile)

Used to be extreme in SF, but have mellowed in recent years as making a living gained popularity (and Mom and Dad wouldn't feed me anymore!)

OK, enough about that. On to the important stuff.
Farscape.
Farscape is about the only show I watch on Sci-Lie (I don't know who came up with that, but I like it!) In fact, it's about the only TV I watch, period. I sometimes leave FoxNews on as background noise (talk radio is my shameful vice). We need to be thinking of the timing of the thing. Get ready to inform people about Farscape when it is going to be on, for maximum effect. (Identify target, identify kill zone, use to maximum effect)

Our strongest point is this, we all believe! We want this to go on, and by golly, we all are willing to make it go on. I haven't gone looking for the user groups before this because when all is well it is easy to be complacent (and besides, I really have a pretty full life) but when they take away one of my favorite times (Friday nights, just after I get home, get the kids to bed, kick back with a beer, and relax with my Farscape)

Now, TPTB take that away from me and say, here look at SG1... a show so twisted that you have to go back to day one to catch up, and even then.... it's so, um, not dull, but close, that I just end up turning it off anyway....

Keep up the letter campaign for now, keep the communications open to everyone you know who likes the show (I am mass emailing my list, esp my rennie friends, as I had a couple of friends tell me they didn't know about the cancellation) so to remind and motivate them to get involved, too.

I haven't ever gotten involved in something like this, but I have been involved in a lot of different organizational activities, and am willing to help as much as I can (couple of evenings a week, anyway)

Sorry about the verbosity, but my Irish is still up about this, and it is so good to know that ya'll are out there!

Save Farscape!

Hi you all.

okay, where do I start?

I am farscape shoudl be good enough. When the show first came on I was one of those people who didn't like it, until I actually saw it.

Now I am a believer and a fan.

I am Gabriel Estrada, Los Angelino from L.A. (all over), a true nomad of the city of Angels.

Part time student, full time graphic designer in print production right now but learning how to do 3-D animation (hopefully soon enough to work on season 5 for Farscape!!!!)

I own a iMac and a Compaq PC, and have this site and Farscape sites among the few bookmarks in my personal section. Ya got to be good to be there.

I have been busy as of late but am now willing to step up with time and effort to help save our wonderful show. Everywhere I have stayed as a guest I have turned on friends and family to this show of ours. Now it is time to do more.

I drive a piece of crap. A DRD would get better mileage than my machine, but it is still my car.

I buy frequently from all the major supermarkets (Ralph's, Vons, Albertson's, Pavillions, I'm not picky). I shop at small Venice shops and enjoy the beach. I am Farscape.

I just found out today about the cancellation. This really breaks my heart as I put Farscape above even Enterprise as the sci fi show to never miss.

The Sci Fi channel is basically getting rid of the one show worth the bandwidth and I will NOT stand for this.

Age 34, software developer at the moment, and avid fan of Farscape. I wonder what will happen to Sci Fi's ratings the day after the final episode of season four airs.

I will tell you one thing, I will NOT tune in to the Sci Fi channel after that date and I will smack anyone I find watching Sci Fi upside the head.

Regards,

looks like SciFi-Friday didn't even get above 0.8 (to make the top 20 that night)

OK, so here I go: I'm 33 and the archetypical scientist (although I'm still working on the looks... need glasses!) doing cutting edge research at the interface of Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry and Computer Science (mainly AI; just in case this DOES get send off to boast :D). I'm currently a postdoc at UCLA, biting my time waiting for the next tenure track opening (for all you advertisers: as a prof I can REALLY influence what my students buy. No kidding!:ewink: )

And I will design an airborne retro-virus that infects all green-leafy plants and come spring all the leaves on all the trees will read "WATCH FARSCAPE". Huh?! Oh. Uhm, my collegue just told me something about some bioweapons convention and that I'm really not allowed to do that...

Well, I guess, in that case, unless you need someone to recognize faint patterns in hugely noisy data, I am virtually useless (Damn! My French-teacher was right after all!)

I have plenty of programming knowledge, but from what I've read there are many much more qualified programmers (and particularly designers!) out there. Hell! You people rule! Some of the design I've seen on this and other sites is unreal!

OK, maybe I'm not totally useless, I have a very active (overactive?!) imagination and some solid acting background (yeah, go figure :D) so I'm far from shy :). I've set up a webpage through which people here in LA can hook up to go to red-carpet movie-premieres to spread the word (lots of bored people standing around waiting, they're a lot easier to talk to than someone trying to get their Saturday shopping done. Oh, and they can't walk away ;)) and maybe if we get enough people together we could go and crash the Jay Leno Show (although I'd say wait for January for that one).

Here's a link to the site I mentioned:

http://www.doe-mbi.ucla.edu/~astrid/SaveFarscape/MoviePremiereInformation.html

Damn! 25 years of education and my entire usefulness comes down to where I live! :D

Ha! And I kickbox! Quite well, actually. So if you let me know enough in advance when Mike or Barry will be out West, I could take'em for a dance :D

Oh yeah, there is one more useful thing about me: I do NOT get discouraged and I do NOT loose motivation. Ever. :D So if you ever need a HELL YEAH!!!! and a pep-talk, you can always ask me :D :D :D

'Nough ranted.

Are we gonna get out show back?

HELL YEAH!!!!

Love and Peace and High Spirits :)

Astrid aka Tiriel

Hell! Did I mention, I'm verbose?!

I am 24 year old male or at least I will be in a few days (24 that is. I am currently male). My birthday is the day before the Global Rally, which I will be attending in Boston. I am an Electrical Engineer working for Lucent Technologies, and I am currently attending grad classes.

My roommate Steve got me hooked on Farscape over a year ago after I introduced him to the joys of Babylon 5. I have never had so much anger over the cancellation of a show, and I will do my best to join the rest of you in saving our favorite program. Friday night is a terrible night for a show because I love to go out, but my roommates and I watch it live as often as possible. It is not a television program but an important event in our lives.

I have html skills, but I can see that we have a number of fine folk who have that covered. I also possess the ability to write well, though perhaps not as well as some of my fellow Scapers. I intend to use this ability in whatever capacity I can in the weeks and months ahead.

I am also lending my Farscape DVDs to as many people as possible. I already had a list of people to which to lend them before the cancellation, and I will accelerate my efforts to share Farscape with my friends and co-workers.

Regardless of the outcome, this is truly an amazing group and a testimate to the power of the show and the heart and intelligence of its audience.

(I tried to post my bit a few weeks ago, and it got lost. I"ll try again.)

My name is Sara, my handle almost everywhere is Samati75 or just Samati. I am 27, female, single, mother to P, my 3 y.o. son. He's my angel. I live in Orlando, FL.

I am an admin assistant, and in another life (Baton Rouge, LA) I was a server/cook. I love to surf the net, and research whatever tickles my fancy online. I am always sending in FS links i find, just ask Red.

I can type, transcribe, make phone calls, get good deals on things and places. Thats really a good description of my daily job, lol. But its what I have to offer. I also cook cajun of anyone gets hungry at the Orlando rally. What fun that would be; a rally and a cookout!

I love Farscape. Thats just the long and the short of it. THis is the first thing I have ever felt worth saving, and I will fight till the end.

Hi, I'm Jackie (not to be confused with the other Jackies online in the universe of Scape!), 38, NY resident. I am a writer, editor, artist, all PT  I am the Contributing Editor for the Suite101.com topic for Farscape. I work for an ad-mailer, so I have some exporure to how ads are put together, what they cost, etc. I am pursuing going to film school or studying cinema or media studies at graduate level. My skills -- brainstorming, pep talks, handing out hugs when needed, proofing/copyediting, doing light research. I'm not particularly good at multi-tasking or dealing with phones. I will be at the NYC rally and the NY Cre Con, great meeting places...see ya there!

I am amazed at the diversity of fans here! You all sound wonderful.

Caffeine Pill....you are about 30 minutes away from me! I'm in Spartanburg/Inman SC. And I just quit working for Michelin at the beginning of the year! How weird is that?

I am 35 years old. You all know my name since it's my user name too. I have my own interior decorating business and sell Mary Kay on the side. I am very proficient with a computer and the internet, I love to read sci fi and romance novels, and I love to write. I dabble with photoshop and corel draw...I am certified in Corel Draw. I have 26 cats, 1 daughter and I'm getting married soon. That's about the extent of my boring life! :D

I've been writing my letters, sending my e-mails, making my phone calls, etc. If there is anything else I can do to save Farscape, I'll gladly pitch in. I've already gotten 2 of my friends hooked on the show. They flew through my season one dvds and the first 2 of s2, and they are anxiously awaiting the rest of the dvds!

Excellent work everybody! I've been keeping up with everything, and I want to commend everyone on their loyalty to the show and our ability to work together for a common goal.

My name is Christine, I'm 20-something, and currently a college student. Even though my homebase is in Germany, I currently reside in Corpus Christi. Have to admit I feel a little like a fish out of water here sometimes (foreign cultures are great once I get that foot out of my mouth) but never felt like I "belonged" in Germany either. Planet Erp is my home, and I met great people everywhere.
I'm a little shy but quite daring, can be very persistent, and have been told I'm funny. I'm good at writing. =) Nice ta meet y'all!

Hey everyone! This thread is so much fun to read!

Another lively German here. My name is Maria, I am 18 years old and I fell in love with Farscape after watching a rerun of "Bone To Be Wild" of all things. Suffice to say it only got better after that...

My current occupation is being a psychology student at the university in my beloved hometown, starting in 6 days. :bounce:

I don't really have any skills or much money to aid the campaign, aside from a limber letter-writing hand and the occasional stamp or five, but those are being employed liberally. Another straw on the camel's back. ;) I also try to convert people, when I get the chance.

Hobbies include working to develop decent reading habits, manufacturing colorful, obscure paintings for friends and family and basically having a good time.

I am a femle, 20 year old. Live in Central Florida. This is my very first post on this board. Just came back from a Save Farscape at Sci-Fi City here in Orlando. Wondering if there will be anymore such events here in this wonderful SunShine state.
I'm glad to finally be in contact with so many Farscape fans.

I'm dave.
I work for Nickelodeon Magazine in NYC.
When I'm not at work I write and draw comic books, some of which are published with my friend John at Cryptic Press (a fellow farscape fan who was at the first NY ralley).
I'd like to be able to sleep more and eat more icecream :)

I think I become more in love with Farscape every day! I just bought the 3rd season 2 DVD even though I have every episode on tape :)

What I do best: Persuasive letter writing, editing, helping plan events, talking to people about something in which I strongly believe. I don't mind calling/writing media/networks, trying to track down contacts/information, etc. But my available time is limited. Access to PC/Internet only during work hours. Have also joined with the local scaper group which got together for the first time for the Oct. 5 rally. We're hoping to arrange another rally in December near the Chain Reaction.

Hi

My really real name is Suzi and I'm a UK Farscape addict.
I am 30 years old and my paying profession is architecture - I'm a Senior Architect at a firm in Huntingdon (near Cambridge UK).

My skills include

management
organisation
letter writing
illustration
3d computer modelling an rendering
spatial design
team skills

there seem to be an awful lot of managers and motivators already here on the site - so perhaps we should be organising teams to tackle certain issues rather than us all being spread too thinly trying to tackle everything.

Anyway - who's in charge here and may I please have their e-mail address?

Fight for Farscape.
If we want it - we can get it.

Amazed by the diverse audience of Farscape.

Blown away by the reaction to the cancellation.

Reacting to this in a way I have never before reacted to any other TV show. Farscape shall live on!

Male, 44 but feel like 100, except when I'm watching Farscape. I need this show for medicinal purposes, damnit! I own a computer shop and a game store (side by side)in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and a website selling die stone and other accessories for miniature terrain building in the U.S. and Europe. Currently, the television over the cash register in the game shop is playing season 1 tapes all day long as my small but vocal staff busily alert people to the danger. I've already written a few letters and made a few calls. Although my time is limited, I'm looking for some new way to help.

I don't know anything but that's the beauty of it.
I like all kinds of stuff and the Tao and poetry, some music, arts, crafts ...

My donation to saving farscape campaign is very minimal but sometimes prooves beneficial. It's usually in with the suggestions and idears. 'Bout all I got anyways.

Hey, I'm Ame, 30+ and live in a suburb of Dallas, TX. I'm a freelance graphic designer. I'm just learning web design and I wouldn't call myself an expert with Photoshop, although I can do all the standard stuff. Mostly what I do currently is design for print ads, so what that means is that I can take what looks good on the screen and make sure it won't look like crapitola when it gets spit out of a printing press.

I also own a consignment furniture store - although I doubt a couple of used sofas would do the cause any good.

I've done some writing and quite a bit of content development and editing for publications. Hmmm... what else? Ohhh! I also draw pencil portraits, but I'm rather inconsistent. Someti
