As a few of you may know, I have been holding Farscape viewing parties for the last 3 months. I’ve kept you guys updated on particular goings on and issues that have popped up. Well, something happened last night that makes me feel a whole lot better about myself.

Never in my life have I latched onto a TV show the way I have with Farscape. I used to watch a lot of TV when I was younger, but stopped watching almost completely by the time I turned 21. I stumbled onto Farscape early in it’s first run and never looked back. Many of my friends said I obsess over the show. Even my ex-wife said I took it too far. Okay, let’s examine this: I watched every episode from the beginning of Season 2 to the end of the series during their first runs, I bought the 4 season guides, I have 4 out of 12 issues of the official magazine. I have the role-play book (which I've never used), a set of the action figures, the book “Sex, Drugs and Killer Muppets," put together my own Farscape ‘bible’ of sorts by collecting as much information on the show, articles and campaign updates during the course of the show’s run as possible, and own the complete Farscape collection on DVD. So what?!! I’ve spent my entire life enjoying Star Wars too. Even went so far as to have an obscure Star Wars tattoo I wear as a badge of geek honor. Everyone has come to accept this, but they give me dren over Farscape.

So for a few years now I’ve looked like a nut case to a few friends. But there is a method to my madness. I just wanted everyone to share in my excitement for the show. I’ve said for years “Give this show a chance and you’ll understand why I’m crazy!”

Well, as of right now, the group of Newbies I’ve been watching with is about to watch the “Liars, Guns and Money” trilogy. One of them turns towards me last night after finishing “A Clockwork Nebari” and says: “You know, this show is like crack! You simply can’t wait till your next fix.”

A say “So now you get it?”

He says “Yeah – you never were crazy, it’s the frelling show!”

I say to him “You need to tell my ex-wife that!”

Finally someone understands! Its not me, it’s the show! This show does things to you!

Yeah, there is just something about someone saying to you, "Your right, that was great!" about something that they had previously given you a hard time about. :aok: Sweet.

Yeah, baby!

And I'm very excited because I'm going out with a new guy who I know is a big SF fan but doesn't know about Farscape. And I get to scape him! Haven't figured it all out yet...have to do it just right. Plus I have a couple of bum discs that I need to replace. But I'm soooo looking forward to this!

I'd say it's the show, too, but it's also me, I admit. I've gotten a bit cynical about TV over the years with the rot they put on the air these days. I used to watch certain shows with delighted devotion if they were really worthy of my time, and SF is one of my favorite genres. Happily, there are have been worthwhile shows such as Star Trek (though now having seen Farscape, Star Trek is sooo naive and tame) in all its incarnations. Certainly, Dr. Who (in its earlier days), or Blake's 7, would be others, a bit primitive especially with regard to effects. I think Babylon 5 was getting closer to what Farscape achieves in that the plot lines and character arcs were complex and mostly well executed.

It's funny, though, that the ones that have really gotten me, gotten inside me, the ones I dream or have dreamt about are Dr. Who, Star Trek, Blake's 7 and now Farscape, but not so much Babylon 5, though I do remember one or two with Girabaldi! ;) And Capt. Sinclair, too, now that I think about it! I'm not sure if The X Files, The Highlander, Buffy or Angel count in this genre, but I got hooked on those as well (a friend I work with used to tell me about various Buffy and Angel episodes she thought her hysterical, and so I figured I needed to check them out and she was right!)

These are the shows that you watch again and again whenever they're on now matter how many times you've already seen them, and then you rent or buy the DVDs as well! These are the shows that you must watched undisturbed, comfortable with everything around you so you don't have to get up for anything - you don't want to miss anything. I Love the DVDs, you can go back as many times as you want if something was said you didn't quite catch (too frequently sometimes). John mumbles a lot, I think! But I Love him anyway, that hunka a burnin' Love! :D :D

I've been talking to a lot of people lately about the show lately, how rich and delicious it is, but they're not into SF, or they just don't get what I'm saying. They really have to see it. I got that same friend I mentioned above to watch it and she's hooked, too, but not to the same extent as me, I think. Maybe when I get my very own set of DVDs of all the seasons, I'll have viewing parties to turn people on. That would be a total blast! :D :partytime :woohoo:

Blessings, Love and Peace to You All,
