I am a newcomer to Farscape and have just started renting the discs from Netflix. My problem is that where I watch these DVDs I have to keep the volume low and use subtitles. I watched the first disc without any problems but for some reason the second disc didn't have english subtitles as an option.
I don't know if anyone would really know this but do the rest of the discs in this season and the series overall provide subtitles?
Thanks!!

Hi -- I like to use the captioning as well and I have both the original DVD's from ADV and the Starburst editions from ADV.
The original ones (US versions, that is) -- well I think they picked up the broadcast CC'ing because there are problems with them. One episode would have the CC'ing and then another wouldn't and sometimes it would print on screen all garbled. I noticed it got better in the 2nd season. But never perfect throughout all the DVDs.
I was really a bit PO'd about it because my daughter is deaf and she could never enjoy watching the show with the original DVD set. I guess watching TV with captioning became a way of life for us and I always keep it on.
I can also tell you that ADV did the Xena and Hercules DVDs and the same problems are on those discs as well.
BUT.... all said and done, the ADV Starburst editions all have captioning for the Hearing Impaired on them as option. It is a separate imbedded addition. These captions are perfect! What a difference.
So if you can Netflix the Starburst editions, do so -- you might even want to think about investing in them because they are quite reasonable to purchase.
With the original ones -- its hit and miss all through the series (you'll have to turn up the volume).
BTW my daughter says, on the whole, that captions only give you about 70% of what is really being said.

Hi G55
If it is any consolation, the Australian R4 versions don't have any subtitiles at all. I did read of some Scaper who was seeking help to add subtitles to episodes, though it would take weeks for each episode.

I appreciate the responces (and the welcome). I did see the Starburst editions on Amazon but for some reason they aren't an option through Netflix. I may eventually just buy the sets one at a time but I am going to try a few more discs from NF to see how they are.
