A Gift to Celebrate Claudia's Good News!! Please read!

Before I proceed with this post, I must tell you up front that the information in this post was approved for posting on FMD by the Admin. Normally personal details of our beloved Farscape stars are not allowed. But, in this special instance, an exception was made.

That said, it is probably common knowledge after the TV Guide article that came out this week ("Black is Back!") that Claudia Black gave birth to a baby boy in December.

In true Scaper fashion, fans want to show their well wishes to Claudia and her husband and to celebrate this wonderful event. After discussion and inquiries, it was decided that it would be nice to try and raise a lump sum donation from Scapers to a give to a charity in Australia called Bear Cottage in Claudia's honor. Bear Cottage is a children's hospice for terminally ill children and their families. http://www.bearcottage.chw.edu.au/

Since I don't know how to post a Paypal donation button or any of those fancy things, I just want to draw your attention to this worthy cause and direct you to a Terra Firma thread that KernilCrash has posted that gives you additional details of how one can make a donation. Converted to Australian Dollars, that means we will be donating at least $1400.00 AUD to Bear Cottage!!!!

The individual we've been in contact with at Bear Cottage was amazed ... which probably only goes to show that he doesn't know about Scapers (and Gaters!!!) and their enthusiasm and willingness to donate to a good cause.

We will still be accepting funds until March 8th. We haven't limited this to any particular hour. We will probably simply take down the PayPal button on March 9th at some point.

We're going to say something one more time here, because we feel so strongly about this and don't want any misconceptions. This is entirely voluntary. We don't want anyone pressuring anyone else to chip in, and we don't want anyone who reads this to feel like they have to contribute.

The plan right now is to get a single receipt/certificate from Bear Cottage that will reflect that the donations came from the fans of Claudia Black, and then we will attempt to get that, plus a note explaining what we did, delivered to her at some point.

You folks are the best!

Who would want to make themselves known if they are a celebrity. The photographers seem to catch you anywhere you go even outside of the US.

I think the Paparazzi are too busy chasing after Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to even think about bothering Claudia and her family.
And, sadly, I don't think Claudia is famous enough for the vast majority of the public to be interested in her (though she's better looking and a better actor than than most of the cast of Desperate Housewives)

I think she's famous enough; that's not it (though being left alone is a good thing!). Paparazzi are most interested in those whose lives are freakishly circus-like *tomkatcough*so they can make as much of a sensation as possible.

If Ms. Black is the private person she seems to be, and anything like her buddy and ours, Ben Browder, the name of her children will remain private. A lot of performers won't make the names or images of their children public for safety reasons, and these days, that makes a whole lot of sense.
