My computer broke today, luckily I had the funds to get it up and running again, but I lost everything. I lost my farscape wallpapers, my vids (both the ones I DL'd, which isnt a big deal, and the ones I made, i dont have them backed up so that sucks bad). I lost all my music, all of my work ( thats 4 papers and 2 projects). A side animation project a friend and I had put hours into.

I recognize it is my stupidity for not backing these things up, but it was fine then busted in a matter of moments. It had appeared to be virus and spyware free, and foreshadowed no major problems. I can't believe this I am so pissed.

Mine crashed like that once. It was hell. Never got anything back. So now anything that I do, I send to a storage area whether it be backup, a storage email or just another drive.

sounds like a major hard drive failure, the rest of the computer should still be good....

sucks about the data though.

well, its not all bad news, I decided to take pity on myself and buy a DVD burner and a 200 gig external hard drive... the biggest pain is loading all the programs back up. blah

I've gotten two rootkit viruses on my computer and it was a pain to get them off. Luckily nothing was lost, except for time, I suppose. Norton did a poor job of keeping out the viruses. I downloaded AVG free version recently and have had no problems.

I dislike Windows muchly, though.

I have had my old pc, Noranti, crash. But surprisingly I turned it on one day and then BOOM! It was working. Unfortunately I thought I had broke the modem and all so yeah. But now it's fine. But I found out it was fine around 6 months later after I got the new pc, Pilot.

I just finally got Virtumonde off my pc. If anyone needs help getting that #*@*@#*(@#&*(@!!@*()(@!@^&*( bug off their PC give me a PM. I can help!

Also I do love AVG free, and some other virus and antispyware softwares which are free. If you go to http://komando.com and do a little looking you can find a list of recomended software for FREE! And that is how I keep my PC up and running. GO DO IT ;-)

I use Verizon's anti-spy/anti-virus. I'm told that it costs some money, but I'm on Verizon's online service, so I get it free. It updates every few days and warns me when I go to a page that is trying to upload a virus onto my system. It's quite good.

I could use that but I am to lazy since I installed all the free software. I have had some bad experience from anti software from the ISP. IE: AOFrell. I hate them that is why I got verizon. And I get a higher connection for a lower price!

Sucks dude. Atleast you have your computer. I needed to use all my soul and savings to get a laptop. :(

I had the same thing happen to me a couple of years ago, luckily i had the foresight to have a slave drive that I dropped all my finished work onto instead of keeping it on the main. i feel for the data you lost my friend
