:news: Hey All! Just wanted to put the puzz in peoples ears about Marcon 41! 80 more days until the fun and festivities start!
What is Marcon?
Marcon is a Science Fiction/Fantasy convention with a wide range of programming and entertainment to sooth the savage Scarren. Marcon stands for Multiple Alternate Realities Convention. Kinda fitting for our croud, huh? This years theme is "The Roddenberry Universe". We'll have lots of events planned for the theme as well as Shindig's for other genre's like the Harry Potter themed "Champions Ball", where you can pull out that old Tux or prom dress, or even a quidich outfit and see if you can win a prize. The Masquerade, where you can enter your Scarren costume and see if you can win Best In Show (hint, hint). We've also got a great line up of panel discussions, Room Parties, and a Dealer's Room you can spend you life savings on :woohoo:
When is Marcon??
Marcon 41 is held on May 26-28, 2006 at the Hyatt Regency and Convention Center in downtown Columbus, Ohio (USA). You can check out the website at www.marcon.org for more information.
Where can I stay?
There are plenty of rooms left at the Hyatt. You can also gain access to the hotels website to book your rooms through the link on our website or go to www.hyatt.com. Just tell them you are there for Marcon and you can get a discounted rate!
Who's going to be there?
Not only do we have famed guests like our Author guest of honor, George R.R. Martin and Editor Guest of honor, David G. Hartwell, but we have a few Media Guests as well. Eugene Roddenberry (Jr) will be there to celebrate his fathers legacy with us. Director Mike DeMeritt, who's work includes several seasons of Star Trek: Voyager and Enterprise. But most inportant of all, and I say this as a true Scaper....David Franklin, our beloved Captain Bracca, will be there. 80 more days till I meet him (can you tell I'm excited!???!!!??!)
How do I sign up?
Go to our website, www.marcon.org, and go to the registration section (There's button on the left side of the screeen). Print out a form, fill it out and send it in with your attendance fee. Unit May 10th, you can Pre-Reg for $30. That's $15 off the door rate "What a baahgggin!"
What about Food?
There's a great food court with in the convention center that has great food from Subway subs to Chinese food. There's also a place that serves Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner that is usually open 24/3 (all weekend!). But if you feel like being served there are several great restaurants within walking distance.
I hope my fellow scapers can join me in having a laugh, party hard and show those Trekkies what it really means to be a fan!
Hope to see you in May!
