Bad, good and strange

Yesterday my hamster Glendora escaped and left her week old babies.Glendora was a russian dwarf hamster campbell's.Luckily I had an other litter of hamsters, born on the same day.But these are golden hamstes...Älli got 7 own babies.Nothing else I could do but put the small nealy cold dwarfs into Älli's nest.One hour later only 1 of 5 was alive and now a day later still alive!So hopefully it survives...2weeks of waiting then the worst is over.I do have an offspring of Glendora from her earlier litter, Kurt. Seems she was a bad mom anyway.There were born 5 but only Kurt survived.Glendora's sister Gemma is better, all her 5 babies survived.

What does a hamster do when it escapes?

My dog usually just goes and eats the neighbours dogs food and then comes back on to the porch.

Sadly an escaped hamster usually turns out to be food for a cat or a wild rat.Once I found an escaped hamster drowned in a bucket.

Yeah, good that one made it. My dog got loose once because the metal snapped on his lead, it was that cold. He went two doors up to see his "girlfriends". Luckily he is neutered. But Seamus is a ladies man.
