farscape convention rally?

I don't know if anyone has thought to cover this yet, but it seems to me that a gathering of Farscape conventioneers in NY in November has got to be the easiest and potentially most massive expression of support we could possibly ask for. If something could be planned to coincide with this event and this volume of human beings, I think that could be pretty spectacular. I still remember the stories of the first Star Trek conventions when they would get so many people show up--literally a thousand or more--that they couldn't fit them into the auditorium.

Delurking to say I'll be at the NYC convention. I'm more than willing to get involved in (almost!) anything ... I was thinking myself it would be a great opportunity to be really visible.

That might not be a bad idea. I know when I was looking into the Yahoo Farscape in Canada group they were trying to get something together for the upcoming Toronto Trek convention.

I mean, even with these smaller scifi conventions, putting money together for a booth in the sales area to spread the word about the ongoing Farscape fight might be worth it. The NY convention is the only true Farscape one I could find on the Creation list but there may be other 'scapers lurking around at these other related conventions who aren't aware the fight to save Farscape is till going on.

Gotta be careful though not to spread ourselves too thin...

There's actually a 3-day convention at Burbank, the weekend before the NY con. And something will certainly be happening at both. Something involving costumes, banners, colour and noise. Something yet to have A Plan.

A task force is a fabulous idea. We'll look for a couple of people from staff who are going to one or the other of the big cons to help co-ordinate a crew to organise both events.

For now, use this thread to throw out your ideas. These two cons are a great opportunity to make a giant splash, right in the middle of the campaign when media interest will be sagging. I'd also strongly encourage anyone planning on going to any con anywhere to post a notice on these boards looking for others to create some kind of action. Even if you're not attending the con yourself, if you live in the area you could still get together with a couple of people and hand out flyers as people go in.

And you'll get to meet each other. Now how much fun is that?

how about considering making t-shirts for the conventions? Someone can make the graphic design (hey, markdtaylor up for the challenge:)) and we can use 'Iron-On Cool Peel Transfer Paper' to create the shirts ourselves. And anybody that doesn't have a ink-jet printer one of us can make the shirt and ship them out.

lots of people at the LA rally last Saturday said they'd also go to the con in Burbank. And I reckon it's also a great opportunity to maybe organize something together with the cast (and be it only getting quotes from them about their thoughts regarding the campaign, or taking pictures we can use for fliers or ads without all the copyright issues attached to them).

I'm so up to this, it'll be tripple fun :D:D:D:D

I'll be at the Burbank Con for all three days (unless Murphy decides otherwise ... paranoid looks)

I't would be great if we could get people at the Burbank con. to stay over till Monday. We could go with a large contingent over to Universal Studio's as the head executives are coming back from the weekend. I't might generate alot of media attention. :cool: :cool:
