Hello,
While watching Mind the Baby I found Aeryn's behaviour a little disturbing, especially when she meets Crais aboard Talyn. I don't mind the "arrangement" with Crais because at that time she didn't have much choice and saving Chrichton and D'Argo was the priority. But what is annoying for me is her behaviour with Crais. We saw in Hidden Memory how she despises him and how angry she was when he kidnaped Talyn, and now he blackmails her and forces her to help him getting control over Talyn. I thought she would do it very reluctantly or even tell Chrichton and D'argo and come back with them to knock Crais out. But no, when she comes aboard Talyn she's very serene and even almost friendly with Crais.

So what ? Did I miss something ? What made her change her mind so quickly from hatred to comfort ?

I don't know and it doesn't really fit in with the character don't you think ?

(Sorry for grammatical flaws, english is not my birth language ;) )

Well from what I can tell, the following happened off-screen.

1) Crais shows up out of the blue to save their asses.
2) Crais does a half reasonable job of convincing Aeryn that what he did at the end of Season 1 was for the best.
3) Crais offered to share the captaincy of Talyn with Aeryn.
4) Talyn grew very attached to Crais and Aeryn recognised that.

Aeryn's an intelligent woman and considers Talyn to have priority over herself. She decided that in the current situation, the best thing to do was to be civil to Crais in Talyn's prescence. This was to ensure that Crais didn't withdraw his offer and also to avoid confusing Talyn further. Don't want the kids to see Mommy and Daddy fighting and all that :)

If Talyn wasn't listening in at all times, you could probably be sure that Aeryn would have been far more hostile to Crais.

Yes maybe you're right, Aeryn probably thought it was the best solution for Talyn, given that she had to save John and D'Argo. On the other hand in the end of the ep. when she's with John in Pilot's den, she says she failed, which clearly means she did'nt intend to leave Talyn in Crais's hands.
But poor Aeryn only had bad solutions and she's ready to sacrifice her how freedom to protect Talyn and save John and D'Argo.

She realy is a classic greek tragedy character. She's strong but also vulnerable, nevertheless she's proud and never gives up whatever the situation. That's why she's one of my favourite characters on TV ever.

And... What an actress :signbravo

Another thought to add:
Once Crais became a fugitive like Aeryn, the playing field was leveled somewhat. I imagine that Aeryn's fury at him had lessened now that they were on more equal footing. So now she had some bargaining chips with him. Plus, like TalynLives pointed out, Crais saved their butts.

Fortunately, Aeryn is not truly like a tragic Greek character because she doesn't kill everyone she loves and she doesn't die.

Well, she dies once. And John almost goes with her via Zhaan. So, there's a little bit in there.
