What do you consider the Mid-West. I always thought that it was Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnisota, Iowa and Missouri.
Isn't South Dakota more a Great Plains State?

I agree with you grinner, I have always thought as those states as being Midwest states. Being a Geography major, I would consider South Dakota to be a Great Plains state.

Midwest is Wisconsin also. I just joined and this is my first thread? I am a great fan of Farscape. I'm glad to read that there are lot's of fans out there that want this imaginitive and intelligent show to continue. I was so happy to see it come back because I moved and didn't see the last few seasons. Got Sci Fi and saw the first show which I had missed and watch everyone since.

Well, according to the most popular weather channels on cable, the "midwest" includes the states surrounding the Ohio Valley. This has always troubled me being from Minnesota, and as close to the "middle" of the country as one can get. That being said, however, I don't think there are any roads so long that they could keep me from meeting up with the rest of you.

FYI, the Great Plains States, ND, NE, SD, KS are also considered MidWest States along with the states surrounding the Great Lakes, From Ohio to Minnesota Using the term Great Plains, is just a more specific term. Also, any state from ND in a straight line south to Texas is on the Great Plains. There are so many ways to group the states.
P.S. to all South Dakotans, I grew up in the Watertown area. :aok:
I also started a separate thread for Great Plains scapers for because we deserve our own little really for our little corner of the universe. The thread is for anyone from ND, SD, MN, NE, IA, KS, MO.

PsiProne, after doing some research, I stand corrected about what states belong in the Midwest. I guess that I never truly considered ND, SD, NE, and KS to be in the Midwest.

Well... it is all semantics and how you want to view the States. I was always told that anything butting up to the Rockies are the Great Plains States... and that the Midwest is the States that I previously stated. But... this isn't a place to argue where states belong in what grouping.

You are right too, Grinner. I think that I am going to let this issue drop and not worry about it anymore.

To be more specific, it's all about the split. Beleive it or not, East River South Dakotan's are quite a bit different from West River South Dakotans. Those terms of course come from the fact that the missouri effectively devides SD in half, right down the middle. Eastern South Dakotaners are more 'midwest' where us westerners could be called 'Great Plaines'. Personally, I'm from the Black Hills (which is like a whole nother state in it's self) and consider myself to be a mountain gal.
On the topic of good ole USD, I'm attending college there myself.
