Not here, that is for sure. My daughter logged me on today...she came to my school today for volunteer work. I teach/coach Health and Physical Education at Edward Heston Elementary in West Philadelphia. It is considered one of the worst schools, as this is the bad neighborhood in Philadelphia. At first, it was intimidating being the only white worker within the ghetto, but the parents and kids have come to respect me. The Philadelphia Eagles chose our school to build a new playground and decor the outside of the school with mosaics and painting it. The inside of our school looks like Hurricane Katrina ripped through it..
It irks me, we could have used the money for new books, etc. The playgrounds around here get destroyed by drug dealers and grafitti will be on the walls soon enough. Oops. All of the kids were very excited to see the Eagles. They were to arrive around 8:30 and stay until 2:30 talking to them. ......No show at 10:00 am. My daughter and I get called in from security detail to get word they were not arriving until 1:30...they still aren't here. My kids are now devastated..Been looking forward to this all year. Where are my Philadelphia Eagles.....? Coming in at 2:30 for a photo with the volunteer workers infront of the playground and leaving. We had inspirational talks and picture areas set up for them too. Ashame how the organization only cares for a publicity stunt...
