Hi, I'm just wondering what you know about tinnitus... Can it be cured?
I've heard that by the help of a hearing-aid that sends 'opposite' soundwaves into the ear you might be able to compensate for some of the noise.
I know there is a lot of research being done on this, but have they done any progress?
Thank you very much for an answer.

... well, I donīt know it.
The only thing I know today:
If you ever could be there:

... and hear the sound of the spectators live in the stadium ... you will be in big danger to get this disease.

Well, yeah. Enough cheering fans and you won't hear the tinnitus anymore, I suppose.
I've always had it, as far as I can remember, and very mild so it doesn't bother me. I don't know it any different. I'd be interested in some information too though.

Given you don't live in the states, I don't know HOW much help this will be, but you can always check out The ATA (http://www.ata.org/) for more info.
Hope that helps. I also saw some advertisements for an oral medicine that's SUPPOSED to help, but those are paid advertisements and one should always take those with a grain of salt (they could still be in the testing phase).

I have had it since as long as I can remember, but mine is not so bad. I was offered a "white noise" ear piece many years back but weighing up the inconvenience of both I opted not to. The only time its really distracting is when I go to stay at my mates dad's farm, its so quiet there I can't get to sleep until the water pump comes on......or I get drunk enough.
It gets really bad after I have been somewhere noisey, and after a while I can't hear what people are saying to me.
As far as I know there is no cure for it, least none that I am aware of.
