To Whom It May Concern:
I have recently discovered Farscape during a search for intelligent programming on cable ondemand. I stumbled on The Peacekeeper Wars and promptly Googled everything I could to learn about this amazing show. I ended up in the past month buying all 4 seasons and The Peacekeeper Wars on DVD and am staying up way too late every night to absorb it all as quckly as possible. To say this is unusual for me would be an understatement -- I don't really watch TV. The Sopranos, Entourage, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Tony Bourdain's No Reservations are pretty much it, and those I can take or leave. This brings me to my point: somehow Farscape promotion missed the mark. Nobody, and I do mean nobody, I know has ever heard of the show. And I found it completely by accident. As a direct marketing executive at a Fortune 100 company, it appears to me as though there is enormous untapped potential for this series and that the previous run of the show missed the broader mark. I have at least heard of Stargate, Star Trek, Battlestar Gallactica -- none of which I have watched regularly, followed the series or let alone gone out of my way to write to the creators. This is telling to me -- perhaps Farscape should not have been promoted as a science fiction show but as something else? It pains me to think that I finally found a show that completely "speaks" to me, two years after it was cancelled. How many others are there like me? Plenty, I am sure. (my wife, decidedly not-sci-fi, caught a few minutes of Look at the Princess and could not break away -- started asking loads of questions. It only took a few minutes to suck her in. She too has never heard of it.) As like many fans of cancelled series, I want to see Farscape come back. So here are my questions: what can I do to help bring the series back? What has been done to promote this series outside of the sci-fi circle?
I am grateful for your time and attention.
Best regards,
Kevin J Lawrence
