To Whom It May Concern:

I have recently discovered Farscape during a search for intelligent programming on cable ondemand. I stumbled on The Peacekeeper Wars and promptly Googled everything I could to learn about this amazing show. I ended up in the past month buying all 4 seasons and The Peacekeeper Wars on DVD and am staying up way too late every night to absorb it all as quckly as possible. To say this is unusual for me would be an understatement -- I don't really watch TV. The Sopranos, Entourage, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Tony Bourdain's No Reservations are pretty much it, and those I can take or leave. This brings me to my point: somehow Farscape promotion missed the mark. Nobody, and I do mean nobody, I know has ever heard of the show. And I found it completely by accident. As a direct marketing executive at a Fortune 100 company, it appears to me as though there is enormous untapped potential for this series and that the previous run of the show missed the broader mark. I have at least heard of Stargate, Star Trek, Battlestar Gallactica -- none of which I have watched regularly, followed the series or let alone gone out of my way to write to the creators. This is telling to me -- perhaps Farscape should not have been promoted as a science fiction show but as something else? It pains me to think that I finally found a show that completely "speaks" to me, two years after it was cancelled. How many others are there like me? Plenty, I am sure. (my wife, decidedly not-sci-fi, caught a few minutes of Look at the Princess and could not break away -- started asking loads of questions. It only took a few minutes to suck her in. She too has never heard of it.) As like many fans of cancelled series, I want to see Farscape come back. So here are my questions: what can I do to help bring the series back? What has been done to promote this series outside of the sci-fi circle?

I am grateful for your time and attention.

Best regards,

Kevin J Lawrence

Welcome!:D

and fab letter I feel the same if I explain the show to some of my friends they seem interested until I say "sci-fi". Which is such a shame - closed minded buddies I have! But when I showed the friend I thought would be least scaperble she liked it...so that proves your letter.:bgb:

Well you know i've had the same thing happen to me as well. So that letter makes a lot of sense and it's something that hasn't even crossed my mind. I spread the word every chance I get and when some people hear "sci-fi", they think oh thats a nerdy show or they hate sci-fi things. Once they discover it, they change their minds drastically. But i've ran into that scenario on several different occasions and I have to say that it brings up a good point.

Also for some who have told me that farscape as series is over and the jim henson company was looking for more of a Motion picture thing for more farscape, I've said repeatedly that a continuing of the series is the most logical answer or should I say conclusion that is a must before any big picture is to be made. The SG-1 series is just about to wrap up for good and then it would be a great time to put into the works of the return of farscape. Here is an article or should I say a few things on the sci-fi channels website about farscape and what is believed by them:

An interesting tidbit in there for me is this:

"Rumors of a Farscape motion picture have circulated since the series was cancelled. However, as of May 2006, a fifth season of the Farscape series seems more of a possibility than ever before due to the Jim Henson Company's recently aquiring certain important rights."

I don't really know as of what "important rights" is being mentioned but it sounds that the once declining of the Jim Henson Company, is now starting to build up steam again. I sure hope so and I hope that a return of the series is to come. It is the most logical answer that can be done if any success would be made of a motion picture. You have to get the show back out there and then branch out. But in conclusion I'll leave you with this, and also let me know what some of you think about the whole deal.

"What's certain, however, is that the Farscape story is far from over and some time, some place, it will go on."
