I come back to this website every now and again hoping to see some sign of a movie in the works. Then I see that they are having the Farewell Farscape convention. To me this is very sad :(
I was hooked on this series from the beginning. The acting, action, and storyline was one of the best I have ever come across. It held my attention and it was easy to get sucked into each episode.
I was also reading that Ben Browder is heading the convention, but you have to be real special and pay $70 to get an autograph...
It is so sad to see something so great just go to the wayside...

Any chance of a movie at all???

Everyone who was involved in this fantastic show would love to see more but as far as I can tell the whole thing seems to be on long term hiatus. Making the show was costly and Skiffy had no intention of backing another season so in 2002 we got the sudden cancellation. Then after a lot of effort from a lot of good people we had to accept the mini, I'm not sure if they'll ever back a movie again. Rockne is off doing other tv projects like Triangle. Claudia and Ben found a new spot on Stargate and were doing well for a while. Some people say lightning never strikes twice but Bonnie Hammer does and she came in to have Stargate SG1 cancelled and replaced by junk like Wrestling, the remade Battlestar, and PainKiller Jane.

Claudia and Ben might keep going with their Stargate thing for a while, they did some great work on the show and we should see a few SG1 spin-off movies in 2008. Brian Henson has gone back to his more traditional Muppets/DarkCrystal projects. Wayne Pygram had a few sports as an extra in movies like Starwars and the tv show LOST...I'm not sure what everyone else is doing but I'm sure you can look them up one the net and find it has little to do with Farscape.

This is why I said the whole thing seems to be on long term hiatus

I haven't given up on a movie yet. Heck, Star Trek took 10 years from cancellation to first movie and it has not been 3 years yet since PK Wars. So now it is just a waiting game.

It helps that people keep finding the show and writing articles about how good it is. For example check out this article that was published in the last week: Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones Once More – Is it Time for a New Adventure Hero? (http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/viewArticle.asp?articleID=30481) and the followup article: Actor Ben Browder’s Fans Respond (http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/viewArticle.asp?articleID=30622).

P.S. Wouldn't hurt if you dropped the author a nice thank you either. ;) pscott558@windstream.net

Wow! A long distance Scape at that! Thanks for the link!

Although I don't usually post, I've been a 'reading' member here for years and as usual I agree with Nicola. It's all a waiting game now but we always have to let the big wigs know we ARE waiting. Writing to the journalist is a great way to show such a thing, and very nicely hinting that spreading the word to other journalist contacts she might have from larger papers would be awesome as well (seeing how she proudly admits being a scaper herself). keep active hope and good things will come. See you at the convention!

I really do believe there will be a Farscape movie for the simple fact that there is already an established fanbase, albiet not as big as Star Wars or Star Trek, but I'm sure TPTB know we Scapers exist. But Hollywood takes a long time to do anything, most studio execs are worried about losing their jobs more than the movies they release...why do you think there is such a high turnover-rate among the Hollywood brass? They are scared to pull the trigger on a project for fear of a flop and a subsequent firing. I'm not saying Henson is reluctant to go forward with a Farscape feature, but it's the big distribution companies, such as Warner Bros, or FOX that will be hesitant.

Agreed.

Which is why it wouldn't hurt to get Ben some big screen exposure.

And on that subject, I am cross-posting a suggestion from a poster at TWoP:

That article on Ben and the respose made my week! Someone on Terrafirma was kidding around saying we should send the articles to Steven Spielberg and Quentin Tarintino. I am not. Here are their addresses:

Quentine Tarantino
A Band Apart
8057 Beverly Blvd.
2nd Floor
Los Angeles, CA 90048
info@abandapart.com

Steven Spielberg
Amblin Entertainment
100 Universal Plaza
Bldg. 477
Universal City, CA 91608
dreamworksskg@publicist.com

Please join me in the madness. I printed mine out and are on their way. Maybe if they get enough mail they will start asking themselves "who is this guy anyway?". Well I can dream can't I? I live on hope!

Just remember to spell their names correctly and the whole 'Scaper mantra. Be polite, be positive, be polite. You never know. A sucessful feature film with Ben in the lead might be all it takes to get Farscape off the ground. :)

I have to admit, it seems like one hell of a chance for a slam-bang movie exists here. I wonder if anyone besides us can see it??

every project is like that. literally. they are all iffy up until the moment that they aren't.

TJHC knows we're here, and knows we're loyal. Brian wants to tell more Farscape story, but it's always a matter of money.
