(Is this the right forum for merch quessies?)

I dunno if it's even possible to find a cheap pulse pistol, but does anyone know if they make plastic replicas, or toy versions? B/c $169.00 is lot to spend on one accessory for a Halloween costume. :P I've tried ebay and Amazon and various other sites, but all I've managed to find are a couple things that are WAY out of my price range. Do such things even exist? And where could I find them?

If all else fails, does anyone know how I could make a semi-convincing replica out of, er, cardboard or something? ;)

Plywood. I do believe that the original pulse pistols are made out of wood - plywood to be more precise.

Of course - that is all I know. So if you have any carpentry skills and can find a pattern to follow (and the right kind of gun-metal paint), then you should probably have a really good replica of Winona!

You may want to check out the art subforum. a number of artists have put information down there about creating replica pulse pistols :)

There is a very reliable man on ebay who makes them and the paint jobs are VERY realistic. I only know of one where it does use batteries for that re-loading lighted effect. That one I'm not sure of its integrity. Two different types come in boxes with a copyrighted label and both are different and both need to be finished, sanded, and painted. Only the unboxed versions come painted to your specifications. All of them do come with a removable sight, like the real ones have.
The good ones also come with a leather holster. Some of the holsters come with the snap release like used on Farscape, others come with a firmly fitted leather holster that simply holds the pistol in it. You just have to look on ebay and there are generally many to choose from. Katarra 88 is the man who seems to be the most reliable AND does the leather holsters also. You are able to have your holster made for a right or left handed grip.
There seem to be less and less of them now. Sometimes at the holidays more show up. I know Katarra makes them one by one so the work is intricate and time consuming:they are not mass produced.

Quite some time ago the real props were sold and they still crop up every now and then. Aeryn's BIG F'n Gun is owned by a chick and I've seen the photos. It weighs a ton and its pretty amazing to see up close. The ingenuity of the people who built these fake weapons amaze me. All of the things attached and screwed and bolted onto the BIG GUN are amazing to see. It really is alot of fun, especially to see what the imaginations of the prop builders used to make the weaponry used for Farscape.
I'd say, watch the DVD's and stop all the frames where a gun you like is in it. Blow them up or magnify them and re-produce what you see. Trial and error is how it's done. It's fun,it's creative and you'll have your own to be really proud of.

Thanks!!

Oooh, I am not so good with the DIY, but....I may just try. I might be able to put together a foam board version that vaguely resembles the pulse pistol. After all, a crap pulse pistol is better than no pulse pistol at all, right? ;) But I think I'd be too embarassed to post up pix after seeing the beautiful things other people have done, lol. :D And the holster I'm probably just going to fake. I found some pretty ones online though. *wishful sigh*

Here's one for $52.50
http://www.kingofswords.com/Aresenal-Replicas/Farscape-Pulse-Pistol.html

It doesn't have any lights and I believe it's unpainted.

Also check out some of the other things on that site, they have some cool stuff :)

Is there a seven day waiting period?
