Singer Dan Fogelberg has died. :(

I know many of you may not know who Dan Fogelberg was, but to someone who loves almost all styles/kinds of music this is sad news.

Same Old Lang Syne - Dan Fogelberg

Met my old lover in the grocery store
The snow was falling Christmas Eve
I stole behind her in the frozen foods
And I touched her on the sleeve

She didn't recognize the face at first
But then her eyes flew open wide
She went to hug me and she spilled her purse
And we laughed until we cried

We took her groceries to the checkout stand
The food was totaled up and bagged
We stood there lost in our embarrassment
As the conversation dragged

We went to have ourselves a drink or two
But couldn't find an open bar
We bought a six pack at the liquor store
And we drank it in her car

CHORUS:
We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to now
We tried to reach beyond the emptiness
But neither one knew how

She said she'd married her an architect
Who kept her warm and safe and dry
She would've liked to said she loved the man
But she didn't like to lie

I said the years had been a friend to her
And that her eyes were still as blue
But in those eyes I wasn't sure if I
Saw doubt or gratitude

She said she saw me in the record store
And that I must be doing well
I said the audience was heavenly
But the traveling was hell

CHORUS

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to time
Living in our eloquence
Another auld lang syne

The beer was empty and our tongues were tired
And running out of things to say
She gave a kiss to me as I got out
And I watched her drive away

Just for a moment I was back at school
And felt that old familiar pain
And as I turned to make my way back home
The snow turned into rain

Actually I listened to Dan Fogelberg's music ALOT during the last three years of high school. This chick we all knew had her own A-Frame on her Dad's gigantic piece of property and horse farm and boarding place where I kept my horse.
Her Dad was always off doing something,(owner and designer of Kohler faucets)and her Mother had died of cancer and we were just kids15-16 yrs.old, but we wore out every record of his and Blood on the Tracks and spent weekends there, never emerging except to feed and ride bereback through the deep snow and go back in for more......music and comaraderie and stuff. It WAS the 70's,you know.
I never would have known until the next Rolling Stone arrived. Wow. Over thirty years ago....and I have not the slighest clue where the time has gone, but I know we did live our lives to the fullest back then, with alot of his vinyl spinning. Thanks Zahncrelnik. A sad thank you,but a thank you nonethelesss.

"Time"...he said right before he shot through the wormhole back again to Moya and the crew.

I don't have a lot of his albums, but I love his songs, every one I can think of,
and I am sure many that I have not remembered in a while.

They're playin his Old Lang Syne song every hour at Christmas in the Park in San Jose. Never connected his name with any music till I saw this thread just now today.
