Gay Days DJ Contest - Vote For Me (Please)

Hey Everyone!
Just wanted to let everyone know that I entered the Gay Days DJ Contest - hosted by www.gayinternetradiolive.com.
The nationwide contest is for a Guest DJ spot at a pool party at Gay Days in Orlando, FL.
Well over 100 people sent in audition sets and I've been selected to be first round of 24 finalists...
I'll be the FIRST DJ to to be heard for the contest - this Sunday at Noon - 12:30pm!
I just got done with the conference call - and for the first couple of weeks it will be judged by their judges and then when it gets to the final 12 - the online votes will be where it counts...
The said they will also be looking at feedback and emails to their website...
So after you hear my set - shoot them an email!

DJ AJAR's AMAZING GAY DAYS ADVENTURE

(For everyone who's wondering how things went in Orlando - here is an exerpt from my personal journal...)

After a few hours of restless sleep - it was my big day...
I was a nervous WRECK!!! And to make it worse - as I passed the G.I.R.L. booth at the Expo - I noticed that we were all being broadcast LIVE!!!
EEK!!!
First DJ of the day was DJ Randy Bettis - the amazing DJ that mixes all of the Centuar Music Gay Days series of CD's!!! (And I had my hour-long teaser set after him!!! EEK!!)
I introduced myself to him and had a chance to chat with him before he went on. He is so sweet and nice! He told me not to be nervous at all - just relax and have fun!
I got more nervous as 5pm approached... seeing the pool area PACKED with beautiful boys and men...
I had joked with my friends about dressing up for my set in a goofy costume - and just before I went on - I put on a pair of kiddie swimming goggles, kiddie water-wings (which I wore as bracelets - LOL) and a kiddie Hippo inner tube!
I looked like an idiot! LOL! When I walked up into the soundbooth - Randy Bettis looked at me and cracked up! I said - "Well - it is a Pool Party - right?" He said it was PERFECT!!!
Looking like a total idiot - I waved to the crowd and started to play...
I had people dancing for the full hour I played! Not a beat out of place, my mixes were nice and tight and the crowd seemed to enjoy what they heard!

I was SO relieved! And was a litte less stressed about my big show from 10pm-2am...

DJ Juan Rocha followed me - and I felt sorry for him - because I ended my set FAST - at 144 bpm! But he seamlessly mixed into his first song and was pumping out some GREAT sounds!

After a quick trip back to the hotel to freshen up and relax a bit - it was back to the Pool Party... No wacky outfit - this time it was just me and the music...

There was a really nice crowd to start with - and as the night progressed - more people came out and more started to dance...
The crowd became bigger and more people were dancing and sweating and smiing and singing along to the music I was playing...
I played a little of everything - mid tempo house, breakbeat, house, latin house (which is what really got the party started) and then blew up to the faster happy house and euro and they were loving it!
At 1am - I started a nice down trip and they were loving the ride...
During my last song of my set - a beautiful uplifting dance version of "Let Your Love Flow", my faithful dancers from Fort Myers were trying to coax me to get on the stage and dance with them... So I did!
As the song ended - I bowed and scurried back to the booth...
The crowd was cheering with their approval and I was blown away when they started screaming "Encore! Encore! Encore!"
I looked at Devan and he said to do it...
I was so amazed and was thinking "What could I possibly play as an encore???" I looked through my CD's and decided to play Flip and Fill's remake of Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance (With Somebody Who Loves Me)" and the crowd went CRAZY!!!
Devan told me to get back out there and join them!

I cannot express how amazing it was to be there - dancing under the stars with all those people...

Gay Days 2008 has been THE most amazing experience of MY LIFE!

I am ETERNALLY GRATEFUL to Jonathan - for telling me about the contest, Devan Christopher from G.I.R.L. and Gay Days and Bud Light for sponsoring the contest and to EVERYONE who voted, commented and emailed during the contest for giving me a night I will cherish for the REST OF MY LIFE!

With everything I have in my heart - I Thank You.

DJ AJAR - Pooped from Partying in Portland!

Got to the Fort Myers Airport - just in time to catch my flight...
Got delayed in Phillidelhia - for 4 hours!
Got to the hotel in Portland Saturday morning at 1:30am...
Slept a couple hours...
Breakfast with Paco & Bobby...
Most of Saturday was spent running around and getting set up,
Quick trip back to the hotel to rest up & then at the pier at 6:30pm to blow up balloons and get ready...
The first DJ - Lisa Vaccaro (The ORIGINAL DJ from the first Pier Dance 11 years ago) - was fun! Played a collection of classics that got a few of her friends to start the dancing...
I spun from 9-11pm, the crowd was small to start - but within an hour - it was PACKED - Over 1,000 people partying, dancin', cheering and singing along!
It was WILD - all the people looking up at me - smiling and waving...
I ended my set FAST - but Paco (aka DJ Francisco Guerra) mixed seamlessly into his set and kept the party pumpin' til the end at 1am...
Went back to the hotel - slept from 2:30am - up at 5am - off to the airport - then home at 2pm...wasn't even gone 48 hours... what a whirlwind!)

Well - here's hoping that I'm invited back to play next year...
