View Full Version : So, for those in the States, I might know a potentially cheap way to get season one.

Please note that I emphasized might. This is a work-in-progress at the moment, but I'll keep things posted.

I called MovieStop -- it's a division of GameStop, and not terribly far-spread as-of-yet, but at least some of the southeastern states are familiar. It's a place where you can 'buy, sell and trade' movies; a nifty idea, and a bit of an upstart. Unfortunately, this first step became plagued with difficulty, because the damned company doesn't even apparently have a website of any worth at this point, but in Google we trust, and I came upon this handy link:

I recognized the Floridian location nearest me at once and gave them a ring. At any rate, I'd decided to pop the question on the girl who answered -- no, it wasn't about marriage, and no, it had nothing to do with refrigerators running down streets, either -- I asked her if she had anything on the television series 'Farscape' in-stock, running a test of sorts for the campaign in terms of local availability. (Call it the mark of someone who had been around before the miniseries was announced; some of us used to do stuff like this all the time, heh.)

Lo and behold, she told me she had 'Stardust (yes, Stardust, but I digress, we knew what she meant) volumes 11 and 12' in-stock at the moment, and that was it. I then asked if she knew anything about the first season's availability, fully expecting her to tell me she either didn't know or she knew it was impossible to find, hoping for the latter, as it would show others have inquired.

Instead I was treated to a bit of a revelation -- if she was correct in her memory, at least, she told me not only was she aware it was very hard to find, now, but she had ordered a copy from another store for a customer not too long ago.

So there you have it, folks. I fully intend on marching over there tomorrow and requesting them to do the same for me, because as luck would have it, I'm also interested in finally collecting the series, now, but I sure as frell don't have the cash to dish out on the first season via eBay at the moment.

But the important part, here, is that at least allegedly (and I'll be verifying shortly) some locations still have it filtering through, and I doubt MovieStop is going to charge the outrageous price we're seeing online for US prints.
