Here are the basics:

Hey everyone! I've been lurking a bit, but came out of lurking to announce this. The more participants the better! Tell your friends!

EScape - A Farscape Fanzine
Full Color
32 Pages
Quarterly

For Volume 1, Issue 1 the following is needed:

Articles!
Now, these are pretty open. They can cover any aspect of Farscape or Farscape fandom. Share your experiences at a recent convention, discuss how Farscape deals with a certain aspect of life in the present day, specific segments of fandom, or even interviews with cast and crew if you can swing it! It's wide open! I've got one article lined up already. Articles should be a minimum of 600-800 words preferably, unless you want to submit a photo-heavy article. A good cap would be 1200-1600 words, unless it's a multi-part article. Submit any pictures that might go with your article. Just make sure you have permission to print them (either you took them or someone you knew did.) See photo submission guides for more info.

Episode Guide Entries
These are split up into three categories: Synopsis, Picture, and Reviews. For each episode guide we'll need a short synopsis (about 300-400 words would be good) as well as reviews. I'd love to get a few different thoughts on each episode. Also, an illustration pertinent to that episode would be great (see art submission guides below for important info.) It can be as simple as a picture of a character heavily featured in an episode or a representation of a particular scene. The first issue will cover the first eight episodes of season one. Please let me know which episodes you'd like to cover. Give at least three episodes you'd like to cover and what on each episode you'd like to contribute.
Episodes are: Premiere, I, E.T., Exodus from Genesis, Throne for a Loss, Back and Back and Back to the Future, Thank God It's Friday. Again., PK Tech Girl, and That Old Black Magic.

Character Profile: John Crichton
Each issue will have a character profile of a Farscape character. This is sort of like a condensed life story. Just touch on the milestones. We'll need art for this as well. I know there's gotta be a good number of Crichton pics out there. :)

Column
I'd love to have someone write a regular column. Anyone up for that?

The Rest....
If you've got a great idea for something else let me know. Maybe you want to do a funny cartoon? Write any Farscape Poetry? Song Lyrics? I'm open to ideas. Also, if you've got some really cool art that doesn't fit in any of these categories, there are plenty of other uses we might have for them. The one thing I'm not taking right now is fan fiction. The printer I'm dealing with won't print that. So it's something to look at in the future.

Submission Guides:

Writings: A page in the zine is about 600-800 words. Double that is two pages, etc. It all depends on how much support art there is. If you have something that is under that, send it in. If it works it works. These aren't hard and fast rules, just guides. Articles should typically be 1-2 pages unless it's a multi-part article.\

Photos: No copyrighted photos will be used. We're going to play nice and make sure this is playing by the rules. But photos you or friends have taken will be great. Photos should be fairly hi-resolution so that they can print in the zine and look good. That means 300dpi or a large photo at 72dpi. If you're not sure, send it with your article and I'll let you know if it'll work. If you have captions for them please send them with your article, and make sure you credit who took the photo.

Art: I welcome all art in all styles. The more diversity the better. Color is great (since the zine is printed in color... color pretty!) but not necessary. Photo manipulations/collages/etc will not be accepted because they use source images that are copyrighted. They can be very artful, but we're playing by the rules. Sorry! Like photos, hi-resolution is best (300dpi, LARGE 72dip.)

All submissions/volunteering to write an article should be sent to:
escapejon@gmail.com
Deadline for eventual completion will vary. If people sign up quick, I'd love to make it mid-March so the zine can be out by the end of March. I'll give a more specific date as I see what kind of response this gets.

Please say what name you'd like to submit under (your real name, a message board alias, etc) and if you have an e-mail address or web link you'd like to have included. Also, this is a totally not for profit fanzine so we don't pay anything but then that's the whole point!

Whew! Okay, that's it. Any more questions and you can e-mail me there. Thanks everyone!
