For those of you living in metropolitan areas: I found last night that you can buy magnet-sheets for ink-jet printers at Staples for just $10.
So I took some home, made a quick design, printed them on my cheapish printer and they're drop-dead gorgeous!
There was a thread where people suggested it (can't find it now) but it did sound somewhat complicated, but this is as easy as putting a sheet of paper into your printer.
Not sure how it works, but they're water-proof after they dry. You can cut them to whatever size and shape you want and they stay well on the car (as a first approximation, I only had them on for one tour yet, but with the way I usually drive it means if they stay on once, they'll probably stay on forever :D)
Anyway, it's cheap, it looks good and you can change them every day to keep it interesting :D
The $10 buy you four letter-sized sheets. And each translates into one (more or less) full sized bumper-magnet.
Love and Peace and Cool Bumper-magnets :) :) :)

With an 'e'. Looks good other than that, though! :)

I haven't run across this kind of magnet making yet, but I don't often pay attention to printing graphics, since I plot and cut vinyl. This is great info for anyone to use, especially considering how many great graphics are up for use.
One note. I admit I have never looked into the printed from the inkjet magnets, but if they are like the ones I have done then I have suggestions. Magnets will show every grain of sand and speck of dirt that gets under them, so put them on a clean surface. Also, they can mess up your paint job, so don't leave them in one spot for weeks at a time. Keeping your car cleaned and waxed on the outside will help, and periodically take them off, clean them and the place them in a different spot. My dad had a cheap paint job and ruined his car when he didn't listen to me. But he did leave his on for about 6 months. Finally, magnets will bend, but they can also pick up creases if left to drape over objects too long.
Thanks for the great idea. I'll have to check out Staples this weekend.

I will HAVE to have one of those :D
DRD2001: must have been your post I read then! I had never seen anything like it before either, it's really like a (very thick, but very bendable) sheet of paper. You can find them where they sell the photo-paper etc :)
And thanks so much for the tips!!! Going through the car-wash tomorrow :)
And, yes, clean the surface where you want to put it thoroughly first, if there is dirt, not only can you scratch the paint, there is also a chance the magnet will fall off more easily.
I've been thinking about this all day and came up with a bunch of slogans I'll use, things like:
Looking for a different type of romance?
Sci Fi Channel, January, Fridays 10pm
or
Want something REALLY out there?
Sci Fi Channel, January, Fridays 10pm
and so on.
Printing them modular, I can mix and match.
I remember a very successful ad-campaign many years ago in Germany. Daewoo advertised for almost a month just their name, but not mentioning who or what they are. EVERYBODY was talking about it and by the time they revealed who they were, the name had become a household item!
If SlyFi wants to tank our show by not advertising it, then I'll be happy to do what I can to find new viewers in spite of them!! :P
I'm hoping that with the right tag-lines I might raise interest for people to at least switch on and see what this is about (curiosity killed the cat :D). And by playing on the various aspects of the show, I would hope to interest people who might then stay on (the show IS great, after all :D)
Anyways, if anybody ash any more ideas for tag-lines, I'd love to hear them (creatively challenged asking for help!!! :D)
Love and Peace and Cool Ideas :)

They're around $8.00 there. I didn't think about putting them on my car. Have to make one for that. I made a whole bunch of refrigerator magnets. They're a bit delicate when trying to pull them off because they are thin , maybe laminating them on the front might help, have to try.
How about coming up with a clever list of things to put on them?
Here's 1: I brake for Hynerians.
Theses would be good for all Scapers to put on their cars or anything you may be in charge of that will allow other people to see. I'm going to put one on my desk at work with the rest of my magnets.

NOBODY breaks for Hynerians. Except maybe other Hynerians.

If you want to go with the cryptic angle (which I wholeheartedly support - less is more), I'm still fond of "Farscape Lives".

Window Decals. Can buy the sheets at Wal-Mart etc. and make save farscape ones to put on car window.
