View Full Version : Urgent Message to Atlanta Rally Donors

It has come to the attention of the organizers of the Oct. 5th rally in Atlanta that a few people may have mistakenly donated funds to Save Farscape's "Beyond Hope" fund (wdsection) thinking they were, in fact, making donations towards the "gas money" fund to get Lani, Gigi, and Paul to Atlanta.

These are, of course, two separate funds with separate (though ultimately complimentary) goals.

I am not suggesting that the people working with the "Beyond Hope" fund are in any way at fault.

However, the only way any of us can determine if, in fact, and to what extent, a mix-up has occurred, is if people who have mistakenly donated to "Beyond Hope," meaning instead to donate to the Atlanta rally fund, let the managers of both funds know.

Please see the announcement at SaveFarscapeCentral (http://farscape.wdsection.com) for more information, which includes e-mail contacts for both funds.

Again, no one's placing blame, nor are we implying that the "Beyond Hope" fund is less worthy of your donations than the Atlanta rally fund.

If this has happened, it's no one's fault, just an honest mistake, which we will work to correct as quickly as possible.

To repeat what I posted on another thread, and to reiterate what NebariNixar/Caitlin is saying:

None of the money from the Beyond Hope fund (through the http://farscape.wdsection.com website) is going towards that Cast Gas Fund for the events in Atlanta on October 5th ( through http://wwwsavefarscapecentral.com. )

If anybody has mistakenly donated money to the Farscape:Beyond Hope fund, which is going towards advertising and publicity for the campaign, please contact Deneba at deneba@attbi.com and it will be returned.

You also have the option of having me forward it directly to the Cast Gas Fund through PayPal. NebariNixar, if you can give me the e-mail address of the fund, I can transfer any requested contributions post haste. (Or tomorrow, because I've been at this computer since 6:30 AM, and I really need to go to bed. :D ) I can copy the receipts back to the contributors.

Are there any totals for donations to this fund?
How much is there for 'gas money'?

Angie has put this up on her website (http://benbrowder.net/news.htm):

30 September----

To clear up any confusion there maybe about the various funds :

benbrowder.net===USA Today ads

savefarscapecentral.com====Cast Gas Money

savefarscape.com"Beyond Hope"====at this time not disclosed

If you have donated here or Beyond Hope for the gas money fund let me know or if you donated at Beyond Hope contact deneba10@yahoo.com.If you donated here in error I will transfer the money to the cast Gas Fund or back to you and I am sure the group at the Beyond Hope fund will do the same!

on another note, as someone who's donated to all THREE funds, I know I'd like to see the Beyond Hope fund, donate something towards the Gas Fund at Barbarelle's website (http://www.savefarscapecentral.com) as well as perhaps Angies Fund for the USA Today Ad, even if it's just a small amount.

A couple of corrections to the info from benbrowder.net:

savefarscape.com"Beyond Hope"====at this time not disclosed

First - we have, in fact, disclosed what the money will be used for from the very beginning. Here is the text of the post announcing the fund (pinned to the top section of the bulletin board):

Save Farscape has started the Farscape: Beyond Hope Fund to continue the campaign to renew Farscape. The fund will be used to cover marketing, advertising and other costs to publicize the campaign and bring Farscape to the attention of the viewing public.

What we haven’t done as yet is specify individual projects for the money. We are in the process of developing a marketing plan to most effectively use the funds entrusted to us. It takes a little time to do the research behind all of the different ideas both from staff and from posters to the board. We expect to share that plan within the week, conscious of the limited window available to us to implement. The available monies will be tied to the plan then.

Second - my new email address is deneba@attbi.com . I'm moving off of Yahoo, so any requests to refund contributions need to be directed to the new address.

Angie is correct about the fact that I will do everything I can to cheerfully and promptly correct any mistaken contributions to Beyond Hope.

If you need a refund:

Please email me. I can either refund your contribution or I can forward your contribution directly to the Cast Gas Fund through PayPal. If you choose this option, which is preferable for both ease and speed, I will copy the transfer receipts back to the contributors as validation.

I'm new to this board, but not new to Saving Farscape, and was curious; what are you doing when you post the word bump?

Welcome Druuna! :aok:

The bulletin board shows the threads with the most recent activity. If no one posts to a thread, it falls off the bottom of the list into Old Thread Heaven.

People will bump a thread to make sure it stays in view and gives others who haven't been here for a day or so the opportunity to see it. In this case, the thread is now pinned to the top of the board because it is so important, so there is no need for any of us to bump it any more.

Hope that helps. Get bumping. :D
