Columbia, SC, as well.
Did anyone go to the Chamber last night in Atlanta?
Mr. Smoot - congrats on getting that article in the State newspaper last week! How did you do it?

I went to the chamber with one of my friends... looong 16 hour day. It was a blast!
As far as the interview, I just faxed about 16 pages worth of press releases and letters to the State until they finally responded to me and asked to do a phone interview.
It was really nice that they also put that syndicated article on the second page of the interview as well. I was psyched
Rumors are circulating (NOTHING OFFICIAL) that the cast will be going back to Georgia this weekend for the Georgia Fair. Check AtlantaScapers.com for more details.

I went to the Chamber, as well. Totally worth it! (It was a tough drive back, though).
Thanks for the heads up about 2.3. I snagged my copy on Sunday and have already put it to good use! :)

I am a South Carolina scaper, in Greenville. And my husband too! I know there are more. My brother is a scaper and my father in law (Charleston) too!
I have been writing letters, e-mails, etc. What else can I do?

I don't really have any great suggestions, but I didn't want you to think your post went unread or appreciated. :)
I have been following the Friday To-Do Lists that are on this website as much as I can, and I have just been using basic word-of-mouth to encourage fellow scapers and to turn on new people to the show. (Lots of loaning of DVD's and videos).
I have also been encouraging my friends to go to Blockbuster to rent the Best of Season One DVD, because that will show monetarily a definite interest in Farscape by the masses and will encourage Blockbuster to continue to stock the DVD's as they are released.
Good Luck!

I'm selling my house in Columbia and relocating to Atlanta, so I can't call myself a SC resident for much longer. Technically, however, I am still a South Carolinian - you guys aren't alone.

Ugh, been a while since I posted, sorry... been very busy with work. I've been working overtime to save up for my trip to the Burbank con.
Which brings me to my point... anyone from Cola going to the Burbank con?

Sadly, no. :(
My original home is Southern California, so that would be a doubly good time. Are you going?

I sure am. I'm looking forward to it too. First time to Cali. I wish other SC people were going, but ... considering the costs, I understand.

You're definitely not the only one! ;) Our numbers are growing every day!
I have been reading the Women Support Farscape thread and in between going through my drawers looking for bras to donate to charity via Ms. Hammer, I thought I would stop in here and say "hi".

For anyone in the Columbia area, I wanted to let you know that the comic book store Heroes & Dragons on Bush River Rd in the Boozer Shopping Center (next to the Dutch Square shopping center) has the Farscape Action Figures for 50% off. I got a series 1 D'Argo for $5 and the one of Crichton in his Look at the Princess clothes for $7.50. (They weren't marked 50% off, but the manager walked by while I was looking at them yesterday and told me.)
Wuhoo!

Heads up SC Scapers.
ConCarolinas is coming to Charlotte, NC in June. The guest of honor is going to be Alan Dean Foster. Aside from having a fan table, we will also be helping to collect books for charity. And if you have costuming questions, Cheryln Lambeth will be there. She has worked with Jim Henson Productions in the past as well as on Mel Gibson's The Patriot. Her book, "The Well Dressed Puppet" has just been published.

Also, we have a Carolina Scapers site and Yahoo group set up, and we'd love to get your input.

HEADS UP!
There are 2 cons in North Carolina which will have Farscape stars attending.
Lani Tupu is coming to North Carolina. He will be appearing at Stellar Con March 11- 13, 2005 http://www.uncg.edu/student.groups/sf3/stellarcon.htm
Something that is a bit of a change. Lani in conjunction with Tee Morris, http://www.teemorris.com; author of Morevi will be conducting a writers workshop titled From Page to Stage . This is an opportunity for all of you writers out there to take advantage of this opportunity to learn what it takes to adapt the written word to stage and screen.
Here is the promo info on the workshop "From Page to Stage". The workshop will be on Sunday (sorry BA) morning. It is a 2 hour session and the cost is $20.00. You may either purchase tickets from us at the convention or can prepay through paypal. http://www.teemorris.com/latest/index.html#page2stage
Lani will also be doing a regular Q&A session for all attendees on Saturday (don't have the time yet)
When you hear that your favorite book or movie has been *optioned* for a film or television mini-series, you may feel both elation and dread. Anytime a book is being adapted for stage, screen, or some other performing arts medium, change is inevitable. And it is this change that fans of particular titles abhor and resent from Hollywood. When occurrences or characters not present in the original story occurs (Minority Report, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Legends of Earthsea) or when a successful book fails as a film (Timeline, Queen of the Damned), the go-to excuse is *Books rarely translate well**; but if this were the case, why do Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and The X-Men characters continue to succeed at the box office?
This is the starting point for FROM PAGE TO STAGE, a workshop in adapting literature for the performing arts from Lani Tupu and Tee Morris.
From Page to Stage is a look into one of the toughest aspects of writing: adapting published works for stage, film, or radio. For fans of Science Fiction and Fantasy, this workshop is an inside look at the creative process. This interactive two-hour seminar will take its participants through the process of written work being adapted for stage. From the literary perspective, the workshop will discuss the trials of taking a work of fiction and interpreting it for a completely different medium while still remaining true to the material*s intent. For the media enthusiasts of your convention, participants will talk with professionals who look at the published work from angles of the performer, scriptwriter, and author, all working to bring to life words on a page. Ending with a candid and honest discussion on when things do work or get lost in translation, From Page to Stage will give you an idea of where to go with an idea and what to expect on the road to realization.
Perhaps you have explored the Uncharted Territories with Lani Tupu, or traversed The Rift to the fantasy realm of Morevi with Tee Morris. Now take a journey of a different kind with both of them as actor and author take your con attendees From Page to Stage.
And David Franklin will be attending ConCarolinas this year.
Last year, we had a blast at ConCarolinas with an awesome Farscape Fan table set up. Dominar Rygel IVX was there too.
http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums...t=cON+cAROLINAS
The Carolina Scapers are planning to set up the fan table again, plus we will be holding DRD and comm badge building workshops. With the addition of a Farscape guest, we hope to really make this years con an even better and more fun filled event.

DRD2001, I'm pretty sure I can go to both, so sign me up to help with the fan table (and I'll bring Rygel and the 'scaper quilt, and probably wear my Xhalax costume!)
Come on SC-ers, join us!

Just a few words, please...they would love to hear from all over the world. Send to Natira722@yahoo.com and mention what part of the US you're from. A group message is just fine!

Thought I'd share this with my fellow South Carolinains. :D
Three men were sitting together bragging about how they had given their
new wives duties.
The first man had married a woman from Virginia,
and bragged that he had told his wife she was
going to do all the dishes and house cleaning that
needed done at their house. He said that it took a couple days
but on the third day he came home to a clean house
and the dishes were all washed and put away.
The second man had married a woman from North Carolina.
He bragged that he had given his wife orders
that she was to do all he cleaning, dishes, and
the cooking. He told them that the first day he didn't
see any results, but the next day it was better.
By the third day, his house was clean, the dishes were
done, and he had a huge dinner on the table.
The third man had married a South Carolina girl. He boasted
that he told her that her duties were to keep the house cleaned,
dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed and hot meals
on the table for every meal. He said the first day he didn't see
anything, the second day he didn't see anything, but by the third
day most of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye.

Myrtle Beach is nice, more touristy. Charleston is older, historic. For both, this is the off season. But I can't get more specific than that, cause I'm in NC and I just stay with my mom when I go to the beach, so those are the beaches I know best.
Hey guys,
I've just moved to Columbia, SC. I'm an international student and I will be living here for the next couple of months (until the end of July). I'd love to get to know some scapers who live nearby! :)
