Sorry bout that, Sfevers! It'll be a year from now, but I may be going to Carolina next year, so maybe we could arrange another....much postponed meet. :P
I stumbled across a Greensboro Farscape Meetup group, and it said there was a meeting on....November something. Does anybody know where and what time this is?

Try http://farscape.meetup.com/71/ to see the Greensboro meetup. I don't believe they have an organizer nor a location yet.... We had both, and I was the only one to show? Ah well. I'm looking forward to SUNDAY!!!!
Yeah, I tried to join, but I'm not legally allowed to until next year. Oh, shoot, I may have a rehearsal during that meetup. Oh well, there will always be more meetups.

I am the organizer for FS Meet-up in the RDU area. I am truly sorry I did not make the Meet-up. I was fretting over a relative in the hospital. (I really wish I was joking, or BS'ing about this.)
I think trying to get the Greenboro folks together with the RDU-CH folks may be a good idea. There are not enough FS registered people in our area to make a meet-up feasable. From my experience in other groups, there really needs to be about ten to twenty members before the meet-ups go well. On any given month, about half to two thirds of the Meet-up members of any group will be unable to attend. Posting Meet-up posters for FS in comic shops and independent bookstores is also a good idea, for people with the time. Work and other things can make attendance very difficult. Im going to poll the Meetup FS group about what time/day is best.
Keep the faith and there may be a meet-up yet for FSers. Any ideas you may have are welcome. If you would like to organize the RDU FSers, I will turn over the task to you.

If the RDU people could make the meetup time a weekend night I would be able to make it. I'm in Rocky Mount and it's about an hour to Raleigh but i have a kid so school nights are out :(
Hey everyone ....getting so excited! I'm buring the mini to DVD if anyone needs a copy? I've got lots of Euro's needing it.
Silk man! Are you out in costume today :D
Heh, nope, not in costume. I may do something special the day of the mini, though. I'm having at least one, maybe three or more friends over to watch the Sunday part, and hopefully also on Monday.
*EDIT:
sfevers, did you ever order any bird-of-paradise flowers? If so, how'd you get them? Would there be a place near me where I could get some on (extremely :P) short notice?

Actually, that's Ms. Eversole, as in S. F., but that's ok. Good to hear from you.
I'll drive reasonable distances to meetup, instigate farscape fanatical escapades, or otherwise help addict others on the show. Speaking of which, I recently addicted a co-worker with a rather nasty trick, although it was inadvertent. I gave him the first season to watch, which he has proceeded to do, in order, and forgot to give him the disk with Hidden Memory. Then, I went on business travel for a week.
When I got back, he was laughing, but fairly serious about getting the second half of the Nerve/Memory two parter.
I may use this technique again.
Having trouble waiting for Sunday,
Susan

I can offer up my house as a meeting place too. I have plenty of room and a 50 inch big screen TV http://a4.cpimg.com/image/60/55/24350304-43de-01800200-BBB.jpg
I also can hardly wait till the mini :D I've been wearing Farscape buttons and shirts for the last week :D My husband has kindly agreed to watch with me. He won't admit he's a fan. He says he would be if they'd just kill Rygel off
edited in  trying to kill time till Ben's on the Late late show :D OMG Cary Elwes too? Are we talking Dread Pirate Roberts?
Hahaha, I remember that picture of your TV. I wish that Best Buy was attached to cable. I might see if they'd be willing to play the miniseries. Oh, wait....maybe they're closed then. Oh well.

Meet-up doesn't allow for groups to meet in a persons home. They are trying to protect the homeowners from liability and nutjobs, and themselves from liability and nutjob homeowners. Maybe something could be done to have a non-Meet Up meeting in a persons home. But I also think it is a bit of a risk for the homeowner, ect. Whatcha thank? (what do you think.)

I've always had good experiances with my puter groups. {that I met thru another fandom} We have a tendancy to visit each other. I've had people I've never met, from other countries, come and stay with me  Once I had 4 people come and we watched 38 hours of Farscape in 3 days  I've gone to the UK twice to meet up with them :D

I hope I will be able to travel again one day.

My husband was freaked at first when I started this whole puter thing. But once we started visiting people {and he realized we weren't insane, mostly} but now he's even gotten into it. We're ready too. My husband is actually giving up football tonight for this. :D
There was at least one awesome NC get together tonight! I had five friends over (two Scapers, one semi-Scaper, and two people who've seen snippets), and we had KFC, Kit-Kats, M&Ms, Reese's Pieces, and Cop Porn!

There were 10 of us watching last Sunday....we had Hynerian marjols (boiled shrimp), 'crackers don't matter and food cubes (cheese & crackers), frellip nectar (corona), reesies pieces, m&m's, kit kats, & cop porn! 3 of us are true scapers (I claim most obsessed title), 5 are well on the way, and the other two, I have genuine hopes for (gotta put some more time in on 'em).
Awesome! The ratings were higher on Monday than Sunday. My theory is everybody watched it together Sunday, then by themselves on Monday, meaning more TVs.

I met a bunch of folks, but I am just now figuring out who some of them are (i.e., real life names vs. web idenities). It would be fun if us NCers could get together.
I've posted a few pictures and tidbits about my experiences in a quilt thread and some of the photo threads. My pictures are universally bad, but other people got some fairly good ones of me as Xhalax, of Rygel, and of the quilt.

No I didn't get mugs for cast members :( RL has been sild and I've had little time for studio work the last 8 month or so :(
I'll work on a selection for next year. If I don't make Burbank again I'll just send them on with someone. I have no real desire to actually meet the cast, I just like seeing them.
Jayelsee~ Were you the one carrying the stuffed Rygel? I'm afraid I was a bit anti-social :( I came with 3 other friends who don't post on this board. We stayed too much to ourselves. We don't get to visit as a group much so we were yaking or watching the con.
I did get to meet Atlantascaper {is that right? bad with names} we tried to follow her to a Thai Restaurant to dinner Sat but got got lost :(
She was also behind me at the Hotel Grill sunday night gathering people to go out. I should have joined them but I had just found out my flight out at 9pm had been canceled and I was going to be stuck at the hotel another night. All my buds had flown out :( and I was upset and tired and opted to just go up to my room and lick my wounds. Bad girl, lots of scapers in the bar, I should have hung out but I wasn't in the mood.
I did love the con tho. The entire hotel was scapers! How cool is that!

We don't get to visit as a group much so we were yaking or watching the con.Yep, that was me! I was with my daughter, and we hung out together, and didn't do any bar-hanging after the programs, so I didn't do a lot of socializing, either....however, it was fun when I was talking to someone to find out that they were somebody I "knew" from the boards (here or Kansas). It was a real surprise sometimes! I did run into several people I knew, and at least one of them was from NC (Lu/shipsister, from "Kansas"....she was at ConCarolina so me & the DRD2001's met her there). Maybe us NC people can manage to get together in March at StellarCon, I'm "tentatively" planning on that.
I did get to meet Atlantascaper {is that right? bad with names} we tried to follow her to a Thai Restaurant to dinner Sat but got got lost :( Atlantagirl? Yes, I saw her, too! I ran into several SE scapers; one of them (sueinix...that's not exactly right, real name Nikki), who taught us how to make costumes at the costuming workshop the SE scapers had last spring, just happened to have a seat in my row, only 3 seats away from me. She's the one who wore the Crais coat in the costume contest. I was Xhalax and my daughter was Aeyrn.

Hi, haven't been around FMD much of late, but I'm still here. Had 'real life' stuff to contend with, namely a messy separation from my husband and a couple of moves. Hopefully things have 'settled' down for the time being.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi (ESP> A Big HEllo to jayelsee!!)
DRD- I will be at ConCarolinas with SG11, Stargate Special Forces and Buccaneers of the Atlantic Fleet. My SG group has been asked to do a panel and I've been asked to speak on the crossover of Ben and Claudia to Stargate next season and the ramifications of this to Scapers, i.e. Will this draw Scapers to Stargate? So, my question here is would you be interested in co-chairing this panel with me as a Scaper representative with me as the Stargate rep. And if you can't do it for whatever reason, is there anyone else planning on being there that would be interested in helping me out on this? Just answer here or pm me. I'm also listed on the Carolina Scapers Yahoo group and can be contacted there as well.
This is going to be a great con and David Franklin will be there!!!!!!!!
Talk to you soon.

We need a war party! DVD- Screen- libations- sebaceans! (clothed- margaritas up to you!)
I'm trying to get a venue for a minseries party this late January and/or early February weekend night. Starting at around 4-8 pm.
Does anyone know of a venue that would be workble in the NC Triangle area? I think my preference would be on a Saturday night.
I am working through meet-up and would like to get a lot of the RDU-Piedmont area scapers to attend. Please post suggestions.
Meetup is allowing private homes to be used for their functions. I am still looking for a good place in the RDU-G'boro area. A nice pub or somthing would be great- if they'd let us have a party there. I don't have a wide screen, and little room- but if all fails- I will share my humble abode. I am in Durham.
There will be potluck, the miniseries, (and or whatever show they loved the most) and meeting fellow scapers like themselves, or as unique as they are.

Please spread the word. With the Lani being added rather late to the schedule, it is important that we all help spread the word. So if everyone can post a flyer in their local shops or can post information at other fan or writer sites, it will help.
Stellar Con is $30 for the weekend (Fri-Sun). Kids (6-12) are $15. I'm not sure if there are any other discounts or anything like that.

Boy- do my headlines s**k!
I came in late to the Farscape panel thingy on Sunday 9:30, elbowed my way in. Is it me, or is Farscape a more "grown-up" science fiction? I made it to the writers workshops, "Page to Stage", "Shakespear in Sci-Fi", and "How to edit yourself." Each of these panels individually was worth the entrance fee.
"From Page to Stage" was amazing! I would encourage anyone interested in writing for stage or screen to sign up "toot sweet" for this workshop, next time it comes around. Thanks to Tee Morris and Lani Tupu. They could have just been slack and tried to blind us with BS, but there was real 'teaching and informing' going on. Capisce!
Shakespear in Sci-Fi came at a great time, as i just came in from the Royal Shakespear Company's "Two A**H*les from...er... Two Gentlemen of Verona." (Synopsis of play should read- "Run, girls, run fer yer life. These are the b***ers I warned you about!")
"How to self edit" was terrific! Again, real writers talking about their process of self editing, and how they work as individuals and what works for them and within their genre. The only way to make it better would be if we could trim a little off our thighs, tummies, and but-tocks. However, self editing has it's limits.
I had a blast, met some of y'all, and would have been unhappy that I had missed Friday and Sat, except hubby took the weekend to worship me with good theatre, and meal after meal out (and no, not fast food!) What has he not told me?)
Hope to see you soon!

It was a really nice workshop. Tee Morris is going to be a Carolina Con this year. He is going to stop by the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary area) to give a lecture with Tony Ruggiero, a free lecture. He wants people to ask for "From Page to Stage" for next years Carolina Con. They would also like testimonials to help get it into DragonCon this year. I think it would be a terrific addition to DragonCon. It was really worth the time and effort to be there. I say that as a writer. (Maybe not a great writer, but a writer none the less! : )
I hope that I can come to Carolina Con. Real life, you know...
I was the chick with the ipod recording the thing. I would love to say I remembered you, but I forget relatives (GOd! I wish I was exaggerating, bad wiring or somthing!) I do remember the comment. I was stuff shuffling, and way too wired from an already terrific weekend (Elsewhere) with my hubby. Email me, If you don't mind and have the time. What part of the outer banks? My in-laws just moved north of Charlotte from Manteo.
As for the meetups. Perhaps we could link all our meetups and use it as a local board. Then again- that's kind of what we have here. It would be nice to get a social thingy going. Im going to keep thinking. It may work one day.

By the way, if any of you ever get to the Outer Banks (and blueaeryn and 'scapermom are already planning a visit), come on over to the Junkanoo Island Coffeehouse on the Causeway in Nags Head--that's galaxsea girl's place, the best coffeehouse in the Outer Banks and possibly the world, my home-away-from-home, and also "home" to Rygel when he's not making special appearances at 'sci fi conventions! One of these days, I really will post pictures!

Yes, well. We threw and party and no one RSVPed. I think forgetting it was Easter weekend was not a good thing. It was planned for tommorow. Odds are real life is in the way.
Please. Any suggestions for getting FSers together in NC? Im not a genius, a money mogul, or a great beauty. I can use all the help I can get!

jayelsee- Hey, hope you're well. The pics I've seen from Stellarcon were great. I loved your costume. See you at ConCarolinas!

I'm hoping to be at CarolinaCon - could not make it to Stellar Con, & I AM a writer and I'm SO upset to have missed Lani's workshop which sounds like it was fantastic....

Teleri (an Asheville Freak)It was great! I'm not a writer, but I throughly enjoyed it! and honored to be in the "first time." According to Tee Morris, he and Lani thought it was a success, so they're already planning to do it again--you'll get a chance, I think.
See you at ConCarolinas.....we need to have a room party!

Somehow there are two of me. Shanscape and Shannon
I was at the "From Page to Stage" workshop, and I thought it was helpful. Esp since I don't know "squat" about the process of writing for stage or screen. I do, however, have a keen sense of, "This is academic bulls*** and doesn't work in the real world." as opposed to, "This is thoughtful, operational guideline of what it would take to do this in the real world." It was too, too short.
Judging by the dren on tv, they don't know squat in LA either. Maybe it is just "squat by committee." It wouldn't be the first time. Would they call a group squat a "squaorgy?"
OT digression below- feel free to skip.

Please forgive me. It's been one of those weeks. I'm babbling idioter than usual. We are trying to find good schools for our children- and 'they ain't any" we could possibly afford. My sister says that I can't homeschool them (again) because they need 'socialization.' Quite honestly, I love her, but in some ways she could be a poster-child for not sending your kids to PS.
Although exposure to ones peer group is essential to growth, at this point I see my children being socialized at PS into, 1- anti-intellectual idiots who are ashamed they like to read, 2- skanks or coo***e hounds, 3- persons who see others only thru stereotypes, 4- depressed and withdrawn pessimist who will forgo baths for long stretches while being intimate with their computer (if you think I'm talking about you...), or 5- Yes men and women who will only go along and get along, no matter what the personal or societal cost, or 6- a drinking, drugging, bong monkey (can you name NC's unofficial cash crop? I know you can.).
Don't get me wrong, "How to Suck it Up and Keep Going." should be a requirement for HS and College. (at least four quarters, with the companion classes, "How to fall on your a** so hard you have to move back home, sell your car, eat on credit cards for a month", and "Failier- Pt 1- How To Survive, and Pt 2-The Unintentional Lifestyle Choice.")
I object to to subduing all that you love to do, all you think or feel, and be surrounded by culturally impoverished and dangerous (I am not overstating danger here) children who are running feral in our school system without sufficient guidance or consequences of their behavior- "No." I don't mean that depends on what your definition of "no" frelling is either.

Tee Morris, one half of the Lani Tupu/ Tee Morris "Page to Stage" workshop, is going to be giving a talk about using accurate history in historical fiction. ( "No zippers, dahlink."- Wont Erica Jong be thrilled! ) It's going to be in the Raleigh Durham area in June. I will post when I have more info.
As I said, I got a lot out of his workshop and I would encourage you to go. I organize the Raleigh Durham Writers Meetup and I asked them to come and speak to our group, but I am trying to get it into a central location in the Triangle and opening it to all interested people. There are more Writers Meetup dates on the site.
http://writers.meetup.com/7/
We will be having regular Meetup meetings in Raleigh April 20 and Durham April 22. We read our stuff and talk about it, encouragingly/constructively. Covers most genres- poetry, plays, screenwriting, novel, shorts, and biographical writing.
Message me if you want to know more.

Galaxsea Girl (some of you know her from StellarCon) & I are planning our own home-grown 'scaper meet-up in Nags Head, NC (that's on the northern Outer Banks, if you're not familiar) in June. Preliminary plans are that we'll meet at the Junkanoo Island Coffeehouse on the Causeway in Nags Head sometime on Friday, June 10--that's the week after ConCarolinas. I have 'scaped a lotta locals, and I expect we'll have a really good time! Rygel will be there, of course, and we have it on good authority there'll even be a couple of Tennessee 'scapers in attendance (coughblueaeryncough'scapermomcough). Who knows, we may even continue into the next day.
Spread the word! Ya'll come now, y'hear?

Gee, I wonder who she is talking about?
Yep, there is this nasty rumor that myself and Scapermom will be making an appearance. And I will be bringing some interesting stuff, including the Screener version of PK Wars with scenes you didn't even see in the Region 2 release.

I just moved from Cullowhee to the Outer Banks, but I still travel out there once in a while. I've not been able to post for awhile, but hopefully, things will calm down a bit. I doubt it though, my son is playing football, we have a new dog D'Argo, and my wife is pregnant. A new Scaper is on the way.

Hey Enforcer,
Make sure you visit a Scaper's coffee house out in the Outerbanks. Head over to the Junkanoo Coffee House and ask for Betsy. Tell her Denise, aka Blueaeryn, told you to stop by. Betsy is a huge Farscape fan and even has some Farscape items in her coffee house.

Enforcer!! Hey from another Outer Banks-er. Ditto what blueaeryn said....stop by the Junkanoo. You'll see me there, too. There's lots of 'scapers in the area, we'll have to have a "meetup" at the Junkanoo soon! (....it's on the Nags Head Causeway, in Caribbean Corners, across from the Quality station).
Hey, Denise, how's Rygel? I haven't had a postcard lately. Tell him he better be behavin' himself.
Howdy everyone. I'm leaving Greensboro this week for UNC-Chapel Hill, so...um...that's where I'll be.

Welcome to NC, seattlescaper!
The rest of you NC scapers, the Outer Banks is a great place for a vacation. If any of you ever make it over to the coast, let me know. I'll set up an informal "meetup" at the Junkanoo Coffeehouse. There's several of us 'scapers out here!
Silk, good luck with your move.
You're not in Seattle anymore? You'd better not change your name. I've (and I'm sure many others have) grown attached to seeing seattlescaper around.

I've changed my name over at Terra Firma to Sunshine. I'm toying with doing the same over here--at least the initials are the same so it's not too confusing, I think.

Hey everybody! :hi:
It's been a while since I've been here, but it's good to see everyone.
Welcome to NC, seattlescaper, or should I say sunshine? :D
loby, I didn't know you were in NC! Talk about a small world! :spin:
So who here is going to Burbank this year? I'm hoping to go. Jayelsee? Loby? What about Betsy? Hoping to see you guys there. :highfive:
And for those of you who haven't been to visit yet, check out Terra Firma (www.terrafirmascapers.com), a relatively new scaper board created so we'd have a place to play after Kansas. We're even planning a party for September! :djdisco:
Jayelsee, how was the meet-up at the beach? Did blueaeryn and scapermom make it? Hope you guys had a great time! :joy:

We're fine here (Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills area). Hardly even got that much rain. The further south, the worse it was. Atlantic Beach, New Bern, Wilmingon, those areas got hit the worst.....

Hey everybody, author Tee Morris ("Legacy of Morevi") will be in the Outer Banks on Friday, September 30 at the Junkanoo Island Coffeehouse on the Nags Head Causeway. Some of you know him well....he did the "From Page to Stage" writers' workshop w/Lani Tupu in Greensboro and will be at Burbank in November (I recommend the workshop. I'm not a writer, but I participated in Gnsboro & had a blast!). He also inspired blueaeyrn's t-shirt slogan, " 'Scapers...they drink so you don't have to!" Tee is a HUGE Farscape fan, he wrote one of the essays in the new "Farscape Forever" book.
Come by and say hello! A good opportunity for us OBX-scapers to get together.
Junkanoo Island Coffeehouse (with beer & wine, too)
7531 S. Virginia Dare Trail (on the Nags Head Causeway)
Nags Head, NC
Friday, Sept. 30 starting at 5 p.m.
Please come....me & galaxsea girl will BE THERE too.
P.S. Anybody feel free to post this elsewhere.
