Hi DrearaKger,
I was a bit worried I'd be the only New Mexican.
I think it's pretty safe to say that there aren't enough NM Scapers for a rally, but we can still do something. I don't what yet, but something.

Could we be more spread out? Cruces here.
We just need someone who lives in Farmington, Las Vegas and Lordsburg and we got all the bases covered. *g*

I used to live in Farmington, does that count?
no? oh well... You know I don't think I've ever been to Lordsburg.

I'm surprised there are no Roswell Scapers popping in yet. Getting together to do something is okay with me, just give me a month to plan.

All for one and One for all? We can be the 3 Musketeers of Farscape! :rollin:
I know Buggs and I are set for some time out of state this month.
But I am sure there is something we can do locally and coordinate. How about local papers? We could spin the story from a couple of different angles to get their attention...
Let's brainstorm and then come back with ideas.
Thanks

Be careful and make sure you read the fine fine print in the City Ordinances. I got slapped with a fine for posting Save Farscape posters on telephone poles...:( No printer this month.

No, I have only placed poster in locations where I have received OK from the business owner or manager, my local gaming store, used book stores, etc. And I put some up at UNM (where everyone and their brother puts up posters) but I got permission from the PTB to post them anyway. The Journalism Department was very helpful.

I'm just not having any luck...good thing I'm not in Vegas...
IRC is not playing nice with my system, yahoo is frelled...I let a college student stay at the house while I stayed at a friends while I had to do the medication stuff before my surgery and I get back to my house, and he's trashed my house. It's just not my month...:grr:

I swear people can be real jerks! But to trash your house while your in the hospital, now that's just plain mean.
Hope your recovering from surgery well.

Would anyone be interested in coming up to Albuquerque in December to join in the Make-A-Wish campaign?
I think it would be a good opportunity to help a worthy cause and spread some Farscape love.
I know there is a debate going on about if it is ethical to use a children's charity. But I don't see it that way. More like as New Mexico Scapers we would be sponsoring a great charity event to a group that would normally not be ask to help out the very worthy charity.
What do you guys think? Would you even be able to help? I will volunteer myself to coordinate if I have some scaper help. ;)

It would totally depend on the date and time...But I'd love to look into it.
Too bad I don't know anyone who works at the theaters here in Cruces anymore or I'd see about working something out here. At the very least I'll do what I can from here to support it.
Oh and SD did you decide about Burbank?

:hi: Jal! Welcome!
I just got back from a REALLY Great trip to New Orleans and I am feeling really hyped about life in general right now and saving Farscape!
I'm still hoping for some volunteers to help me man a Make-a-Wish fundraising rally here in New Mexico in conjunction with the Save Farscape site. Please:help: . A one day trip to Albuquerque the weekend Two Towers opens. Please... I have some really great ideas, but it will be impossible to do without help.
I think this would be a great opportunity to get together and do something really worthwhile in the name of Farscape.
Let me know.
I really just got back, so I'll post some more later.

Woww...Just loked at the date on the last post. It's been awhile New Mexicans!!
Anyway, I don't live in NM anymore (My fam is military, so I move around a lot) but I'm constantly traveling between Arizona and Texas, so I consider myself a scaper from all three states! Any events coming up? I'd love to try and make it!

Winter, we are so lamentably small that events have been pretty hard to accomplish (plus NM is frelling huge).
I am personally working on conversions right now. Need more viewers. But, if you are ever in Albuquerque, drop me a line and we can talk Farscape. :)

Yeah, it's great to have another Albuquerquean Scaper! PM if you want to get together and talk Farscape sometime. buggs will tell you that I am always ready to talk Farscape.

yeah, i'm pretty new with posting.
i have been quietly sending off my letters, faxes and postcards to networks and reading everything i could at all the farscape sites. bought the t-shirts, hats, artwork. you know, whatever might help out.
would love to go to a "con", they sound awesome, especially the one in san diego. probably no chance we will have one come to albuquerque.
yeah, we'll have to stay in touch. there are days, after i have watched one of the farscape dvd's when i get so bummed that it would be nice to jump online and commiserate with someone.
so, to everyone who wants to know, yeah, there are 'scapers in new mexico. oh, and by the way, just in case there's still some confusion out there, new mexico is actually a part of the usa!

Albuquerque does have an annual con. It's teeny tiney and mostly Star Trek. It think it is usually held in July. I'll have to see if I can dig up some info on it. It had someone from Babylon 5 a couple of years ago, but of course I was out of town and missed it.
I am going to my first con in Burbank this year. I'm so excited I could spit. (I have no idea where I picked up that saying).

09-24-2003, 03:49 PM
Hey new scaperfriend!
Forgot to ask yesterday, when is the Burbank Con? How did you get hooked up to go? I'd be spittin' too if I got to go!
I read another thread (actually, I was evesdropping on a conversation) and the two 'scapers said that SciFi only had the Farscape re-run rights for two years. Any truth to that? Does that mean that the rights revert to Henson next year?
Guess we're all grabbing onto anything that sounds hopeful. I really miss this show.

Here's a link to the website for the Creation Farscape Convention (http://www.creationent.com/calendar_frame.htm) the dates are November 14-16. We are trying to organize a visit to the Jay Leno taping for that Thursday as well.
The rerun rights do revert back to Hensen. The details of the contract are a little fuzzy to me at the moment. But in general terms the Sci-Fi Channel didn't "buy" the first 88 episodes, it's more like a lease agreement. The episode rights will revert back to the Hensen company at the end of the contract term.
One of the early points of the campaign was to ask them to release the reruns so another channel could pick them up if they wanted to produce new Farscape. Because historically, when TNT picked up Babylon 5 after is was cancelled they also wanted the previous episodes so that their viewers could catch up. They did the same with The Pretender. So any channel would want the reruns in order to grow the audience, thus making the show more profitable.
It seems pretty clear that Sci-Fi Channel is not going to release the rights to the first 88. So we sit and wait.
Of course there is a lot of wheeling and dealing all around Farscape. The Hensen Company just returned to the ownership of the Hensen kids. The parent company of the Sci-Fi Channel is in negotiations to merge with NBC. It is very hard to say who will be where when everything is all said and done.
In the meantime one of the main focus's of the campaign is to spread the word. Grow the audience. Everyone you know who might like Farscape should targetted for assimilation. :) just joking. Some asked the other day if the letters matter. I say yes. The people who rule over TV need to know that the audience is their consumer and we are not happy with their product. If we don't voice our opinions then our silence is seen as consent. I tell people all the time that I'm fighting mad and I just won't lie down and take it anymore. I want good TV and I want Farscape.
/rant. I'm sure that's much more that what you were asking. Sorry:(

Hey Skippy,
Thanks for the convention link, I just finished reading about the different packages for sale and they sound so exciting, especially the ones where you actually get a glimpse of the actors/writers/etc.
I'm soooo upset that I can't go, normally I would be on a plane for something like this but I'm moving that exact week. I'd blow it off but after waiting for this stupid house to be built for six months I'm kinda committed. The moving won't be too painful, I ended up buying a new house within a mile of my old one over here on the West side in the Knolls, don't know if you've heard of it.
But back to Farscape, yeah, I am so jealous of you, and happy too, that you get to go to Burbank. You'll be meeting our fellow Scapers and seeing our beloved John and Aeryn, man, I'm tellin' you, I just want to be impulsive, run to the Southwest site, buy a plane ticket and a show package and take off.
Anyway, have lots and lots of fun, take tons of pictures and tell me everything you saw and did when you get back. I moved here from the San Francisco bay area just five years ago and while I love Albuquerque I do sometimes miss California. This convention would have given me a great excuse to go "home" for a few days. Man. I hope you know how lucky you are. Man.
Gotta go, taking some friends to the Baloon Fiesta for the day. Strange to think that you and I, from somewhere here in town, can both see the balloons. Nice to have someone local.
Skippy doo
10-07-2003, 01:58 PM
Oh, my gosh, the balloons were so beautiful this morning.
There are things that I really don't like about Albuquerque, but Balloon Fiesta makes up for almost all of it, and the fact that I can wear sandels year around the rest.
I am incredibly lucky to get to go to the convention this year. Last year alot of my friends got to go and I was so very jealous. And this year I get to go. I'm so excited. I giggle like a fangirl every now and then just thinking about it. :)
I'll be sure to take pictures and give you a full run down of what I see. A friend of mine (who just had a house built over on the west side) is a huge Chiana fan and I'm getting him a autograph from Gigi.
Good luck on the moving. I hate moving. When I moved into the house we're in now (like 3 years ago) I swore I'd never move again. But I just keep getting stuff and now I need a bigger house. We've decided that we'll probably start seriously looking in about 2 years. I dread moving again. I have got to adopt a minimalist lifestyle. Clutter is bad. ;)
Cheerin'forChiana
10-09-2003, 01:01 PM
No, no, clutter is never a bad thing. But you are dead on right, that's exactly why I'm having to move, I have too much stuff. Plus I needed a change. Never really did like this house but got talked into it. Love the westside, love that alot of California expatriots are here on the Westside.
Did you get some of that rain? Man, I thought my cats were going to be blown away. I always pity the poor balloonists from Belgium who get all the way here and then can't get their balloons up for the day.
So, it sounds like you were in the same position last year that I am in now--everyone's going to Burbank and I get to stay home and be jealous. But I swear by Wynona that I will be ready for next year's event. I'm definitely gonna go next year.
Got my 3.5 at Best Buy yesterday, haven't cracked it open yet. It's just so sad. Also sent in my money for the Saturn DVD, that sounds like a lovefest I can't wait to see. It intrigues me that the Henson Company is giving out "no comments" about Farscape firing up again instead of their usual denial that they have anything in the works. Oh well, probably wishful thinking.
Oh, wanted to ask you. How many New Mexico Scapers have you run into now? I'm sometimes shocked when people come into my house and notice my Farscape DVD collection and actually have seen some episodes. Then I immediately turn them onto the net sites and become fanatic about them sending postcards or donating money. Hmmm, maybe that's why people stopped visiting.
Gotta keep thinking positive. Glad I found you in the cosmos right here in Albuquerque.

I seem to run into Scapers in the oddest places. One night when I went to see XXX (w/Vin Diesel) I was gushing about the lead bad guy who was a bad guy for one ep in season one, and I mentioned that I knew he would be good in XXX from how he had been in Farscape, and this guy overhead me and asked which episode. When I told him he could remember the episode. :) Whee. But the Scapers do seem to be few in number.
I did get the rain. I almost got washed away in it actually. I was in my car and I turned onto Academy when a sudden rush of water came down and I swear it was like up to my knees. I love rain, but Albuquerque was just not made for the stuff. No rain gutters. You would think we live in a desert *sarcastic grin* :)
Special Shapes glo-deo is tonight and I so want to go. It's usually my favorite, but I am going with a friend to a sewing competition or something. Not entirely sure exactly what it is, but she made a gorgeous Arwen dress for my last Halloween and she wants to show it off. Yeah.
Open the 3.5 dvd. watch the deleted scenes. There was a too funny one and one that was really touching. Into the Lion's Den II is one of my favorite episodes ever and it is so beautiful in digital glory. Oh, and you have to watch the season recap that David Kemper does, because it is just that cool. I don't know if I'll be able to open the last one DVD set from S4 when it comes out. I wasn't even able to look at the pics the UK people put up from the farwell special. If we have the show back by then I might be able to watch it. Maybe.
Cheerin'forChiana
10-14-2003, 12:38 PM
OK, began to pick my way through 3.5. You were right, begining with the deleted scenes and the outtakes was so great and also bittersweet. But I enjoyed the DVD. I swear, the employees at Best Buy over here on the west side are soooooooo sick of me. I usually purchase the Farscape DVD's from Best Buy's website, they've got free shipping and all but I also run down to the store the day that they are supposed to have the new release and ask that they check the new stock. Yeah, they gotta be really sick of me.
We had a pretty good Balloon Fiesta this year. Sat up here on the hill and watched the glow and the fireworks a couple of times, that was pretty cool. Have to say tho, I'm always glad when everyone goes home, it certainly frees up the freeways and the local roads.
Weird, I have Farscape episodes playing as I type this. Sci Fi is running an all day Farscape fest and I have the TV on in the background. Hate the channel but I would watch Farscape on an old black and white TV with lines running through it with the screen rolling while sitting in a wet diaper. That's how much I miss Farscape.
I'm hoping that you can pick up some good intel at Burbank. Some buzz, some rumor, some hope. In addition to seeing the stars I hope you have a great time and post me as soon as you get back into town. I don't expect you will be getting much sleep while at the convention so, after you've come home and crashed for awhile, get online and let us poor left-at-home's know what a wonderful time you had.
Skippy doo
10-14-2003, 12:42 PM
I'll do just that. Be sure to check the board during the convention. There are some lucky SOB's out there with wireless who may post from the convention. I have wireless envy. :)
Hey, also watch Leno on Thursday night. We hope you'll get to see us Scapers there. We have almost a 100 going. :)
Cheerin'forChiana
10-19-2003, 04:31 PM
Wow, check it out. Went to a BBQ in Belen last night and two, that's two whole, people, knew what Farscape was. Pretty cool, huh? Of course I immediately jumped them to get online and get onboard the cause. Imagine, who woulda thunk that you could just go to Belen and find Scapers. Will wonders never cease.
Nah, no need to have wireless envy. The people who can't disconnect from their keyboards are just people who won't be enjoying the convention as much as you. There will be plenty of time to chat once you're safely home, have your eighteen rolls of pictures developed and are finished suffering from the let-down of being back home.
Everyone in this house is definitely tired of hearing me whine about not being able to go to Burbank but, instead, having to move into the best house I've ever had the chance to own. Still........wish I could have had a chance to go. Hope there's a next year to plan for.
Skippy doo
10-20-2003, 09:24 AM
What an entirely weird world. I went to a BBQ on Sunday. Not Belen, but still that's kind of weird. No Scapers at my BBQ, but I did get to talk Buffy for the longest time.
So the house is great? I was scoping things out in the neighborhood my BBQ was in and noticed that a number of the houses has 3 car garages which is one feature I really want in our next house, and my SO looked at me like I was crazy. He doesn't seem to think that I should be househunting all the time. ;) I told him he couldn't be more wrong. That I had to be ever vigilant.
Cheerin'forChiana
10-23-2003, 08:03 PM
Oh no, you can never look at too many new homes. You must be ever-vigilent, one may call your name one day.
Most of the homes going up in the Knolls, that's the new Westside area being established right here at Irving and Eagle Ranch Road, do have three car garages. One of our neighbors around the corner bought 3 lots, his total indoor square footage is 7,000 square feet and he has a five car parking structure and an indoor pool. Pretty swank. We're coming in at a total of 3,300 square feet and, yeah, we've got the requisite three car garage. Never fear, it won't go to waste, we have plenty of junk to fill it up with.
You must be getting so excited. I read the "Blues" commentary the other day, the one where she said to just get on a plane and get out to Burbank and I just wanted to be a good little Scaper and run to California. I have to believe that if I was supposed to be at the convention then I wouldn't have been scheduled to be here to close my new home. It must be fate. Maybe I would have gone to Burbank and made a huge fool out of myself and gotten arrested for grabbing onto Ben and not letting go.
Do you think that NBC's purchase of the Sci Fi channel will mean anything good for Farscape? I can't believe that they won't even show the old episodes in reruns. What's up with that? Why wouldn't Sci Fi take advantage of having the rerun rights and then not show them? Do you think their angle is to hope we all forget about the show? Have you noticed their programming lately? Who the heck wants to watch the Hulk, I mean, come on.
Well, we're having friends over tonight who have been begging to see what Farscape is all about. I've got to go select some fav episodes. I want them to become excited new Scapers.
Skippy doo
10-24-2003, 03:54 PM
Oh, I want your neighbors house. Wow. No, I couldn't cut it living on the west side, my house is about 5 minutes from work right now and I can't get here on time as it is. From the west side I'd be lucky to make it in to the office at all!
I don't know if the NBC Universal merger is good news or not. I am encouraged by the Universal film companies funding the Firefly movie, but NBC seems like too much of a ratings hog.
The Sci-Fi channel has gone down hill of late. I can't stand to watch the horror, so I hardly ever put it on. I think the fact that Sci-Lie even cut the Farscape marathon from their usual marathon schedule is pretty telling. I think someone there just wants it to go away.
I love newbies. I love to watch them watch my favorite moments. It's like vicariously reliving a really great moment. Good luck with your new Scapers.
I am getting very excited about the Con now. They just announced that on Saturday Ben and Claudia and Ricky will do a live commentary on John Quixote. I think I will be in heaven in 19 days! Heaven. I am pretty sure that life doesn't get this good.
Cheerin'forChiana
10-24-2003, 09:41 PM
No, I agree, life doesn't get much better than sitting in a room with our lucious John, our sweet Aeryn and the fantastically talented Ricky. ooooooooh how I envy you.
Yeah, your life is definitely better than mine right now. Met with the mortgage lender again for more paperwork, always more paperwork. I'm drowning. The problem is they lull you into thinking they have everything and then you pack everything you own and then they want you to find your W-2 from 1979. Then the husband says something really supportive like,"Are you sure you wanna move?" in that whining voice that means he just can't bear to think about all the stairs he has to tackle on moving day. Maybe I should be grabbing a plane for Burbank instead.
Just got finished sending out three dozen postcards, a guilt bonanza because I've been so busy. Used a fabulous John/Aeryn imprint on postcard stock, sent it all over to NBC and Universal. Guess I'll get on board the halloween pumkin train too. We just gotta get this show back. Don't you think it's a good sign that there is still so much feedback from fans with new members joining in the fight? Don't know much about Stargate but I do know that the fans rallied for two years and succeeded in getting the original Daniel back on the series. That's gotta be good, right?
I agree that Sci-Lie is turning belly-up, their programming stinks. And where are they getting all of this money to make "original movies" they said they didn't have to produce Farscape with? And do we really need to see "Taken" again? I have to hope that NBC will see that Farscape is a wonderful commodity that can attract viewers.
Think I'll go grab a couple hours of the Princess trilogy. Sounds like just the thing to reduce my stress level after this week.
Skippy doo
10-27-2003, 08:41 AM
I was flipping and saw that Taken was on again. Man, I'm getting tired of that miniseries. Really tired.
What I find most amazing and vindicating is that the media and the people who make Farscape are still involved. I love Matt Rousch at TV Guide. I love that he doesn't let people forget. I think thats a big part of the battle. We can't let people forget what Farscape is. Not us the fans or the rest of the world. Farscape is too good to go on a 20 year hiatus like Star Trek.

Wow, big, big bummer. I just got a little note from a senior member who bbq'd me for writing too much personal stuff in the Farscape threads I sent out to Skippy. Well, what are we if not a community? And we're not just Scapers, we're diverse with, dig this....lives. Big bummer.
Anyway, thanks to Buggaboo for the welcome, that was nice. Real glad you could get to the big city for the balloon fiesta, it is awesome. Oops, more personal stuff, drat. Frell me.
Yeah, Skippy, Matt Rousch is the bomb. I've written him a couple of great thank you letters for his support, I think he is a true Scaper, don't you?
So, Burbank is coming and it seems as tho the entire cast, I mean all the good guys and everybody, is appearing. Dumb question, I have every DVD but I don't remember Bianca. Can you clue me in? I remember that John had a little whoopee session but I can't remember which episode it was in. Answer?
Well, better go. Don't want to upset any of the top brass.

as far as i'm concerned we can talk about new mexico and our lives in this thread all we want to. it's how communities are built.
i wouldn't give out addresses or phone numbers or anything but dude, don't worry about this thread. the fact that only the three of us post here makes it a non issue.
don't worry bout it CFC.

I'm sorry that someone did that Cheerin'forChiana. Thanks buggs.
So, where were we... Matt Rousch is a Scaper. And really like that he's an honest critic. If he likes a show and they have a bad ep he doesn't praise the badness, because he expects good tv from people with talent.
Bianca was the PK "spy" in the Princess trilogy in S2. She saved John when his head was cut off his statue self. I couldn't remember the actress's name either for the longest time. I went and looked it up.
Let's see... I feel the need to throw some personnel info in just because now... Oh, I know. It's 3 and I haven't had lunch yet. I never work through lunch, but today I was so busy I didn't even think about it. being hungry makes me kind of mean, so this is not a good thing.

Thanks for the support....you guys made my day. Are we really the only three that post from New Mexico? Good grief Charlie Brown, with Roswell here I would think we'd have more people interested in sci-fi.
My husband just completely blew my mind...he knew right off who Bianca was and what episode she was in. I feel so dumb. Couldn't remember and I just watched the darn trilogy a couple weeks ago, man. I always cry at the part where John see's his little girl and then has to leave. See? When you can get a tough attorney to cry, well, that's just darn good television.
We gotta get this show back on.

Oh, we've had a couple of posts from people around New Mexico, but yeah, pretty much the three of us.
I just don't think that alot of NM people hang out online. I think that is one of the reasons why we didn't sell out on LotR tickets as quickly as other places. I personally am pretty darn happy I hang out online. I not only have LotR marathon tickets, but cool Scaper friends worldwide.
I know that alot of people are interested in NM only because of Roswell. I have had friends come visit and demand that I take them to Roswell. And what do they do there? They go to some dingy little museum and buy "aliens in a bottle". I love my friends, but there are only so many times I can take the whole alien in a jar thing before I throw the alien and the jar out the car window. That was a very long car ride.
I'm glad that we could help you through your not great experience. There's no reason why we can't just, you know, talk, and people should appreciate that.
Did you see Matt's response to the pumpkin he got? It's in his dispatch for the day. It's so cute. He's great.
I love that part in the trilogy, with the little girl, it's so endearing. I also love the part where D'Argo tells John he has good news and bad news. It was a great comedic moment for both of them.
So, is your husband a Farscape fan as well or does he just remember the names of beautiful women? lol just kidding. :)

Re the husband...yeah and yeah. He's a major Farscape fanatic. After nearly twenty years of marriage (I'm not really that old we were college sweethearts), I thought he was gonna divorce me one time over Farscape. It was after we were all told that there would be no season five, that was a dark day, then the final ten episodes came on and for some stupid reason I ran out of vcr tape halfway thru the last episode. Not that we weren't watching it, we were, but I had taped the whole fourth season and the end, well, of course that was the best. And twenty minutes before the end....no more tape. Holy cow. Was he flipping out. "Now we gotta wait two years before they release the final season." (You know how slooooow they seem to release the DVD's?!!) Fortunately, a girlfriend in San Francisco, where we are from, is a Scaper and she had the final ep taped & mailed me a copy. So, yeah, he's mildly a Farscape fanatic. He did actually cry at the end of the last episode along with me. You just can't get a better husband than that!!
Whew, I always seem to write looong paragraphs. Must be the orator in me. Mother always said that she knew I'd either grow up to be an actress or an attorney because I love to hear myself talk. Come to think of it, that doesn't really sound as flattering as I always thought it did. Hmmm
Yeah, what's the deal with guests? I spent twenty years living in San Francisco and every friend and relative that came to visit had to see the sites. I got so tired of riding those d**n cable cars up and down the hill. Now, my guests want to see Carlsbad Caverns. Well, hey, I can only tromp around caverns so many times before I wanna grab a stalagmite and stick it in my ear. And you're right, that's a long car ride. I offer open invitations to visit during the Balloon Fiesta because we can just really sit in lawn chairs up here high on the West side and watch the whole deal go down without getting stuck in two hours of gridlock on Alameda. You know.
Ah, you're getting ready for Burbank I bet. It's really getting close now. Are you going with anyone, husband, boyfriend, girlfriend? I know you're really social online, you post alot so you must be anxious to see your online scaper friends. I agree with you, I enjoy being online. My problem is I'm so retarded at the computer that I still think sometimes that I have to use White-Out on the monitor screen when I do a boo-boo. Can't tell you how much I enjoy being part of Farscape tho, it's really great.
Gotta go turn up the heater. Has it been cold in the Heights? Brrr, had the husband standing on the roof in the dark with a flashlight Saturday night switching over the swamp cooler it was soooooo cold. (For all you non-New Mexicans, that's what we do each spring and fall, we switch our heating and swamp cooling systems on and off!!) No wonder I got rapped on the knuckles by the Senior Member, I'm just a wise***!! lol, stay warm.
psst... not to sound too stupid but, what does Buggaboo mean about "lowercase"?!!

man, is it too late to book for Burbank? Seriously, this whole house buying thing is stressing me out. I'm about to pack a bag, hand my two year old son Shaun Patrick to my husband and split. You're right, don't think about moving. More paperwork, more money....geez, you'd think they'd be less paranoid about loaning you a quarter of a mil.
OK, prefice this part with, yeah, I'm a big dummie, but I can't figure out how to find Matt Rousch's remarks about the pumpkin. I swear, Dorothy had a better map out of OZ than I do on this stupid *********computer. I did read about the pumpkin sending, do you know how many actually went out?
Well, enough venting, I gotta get to the courthouse and save someone's a**. Computer suggestions.....anybody?!!

Here's a link to the Matt Dispatch with the reference to his pumpkin. <a href="http://www.tvguide.com/tv/roush/dispatches/">tvguide.com - [TV Guide]</a>
We refinanced our house this summer and it was deceptively easy. Not at all the hassle of buying the house. But we really need more room. I went home sick yesterday and while drinking tons of OJ I rearranged the kitchen so I could find stuff and it's still super crowded. I love to cook. We have people over all the time for dinner and I have a lot of kitchen gadgets. I remember when we moved into the house it seemed like the kitchen was so much bigger than the one we had in our apartment, but now it seems so small.
I was also feeling the cold on Saturday. I was in my flannel pajamas, cozy socks, and still freezing. My darling J took the hint and switched us to heat from AC right then. He's a doll. He wasn't even cold and did it without being askes.
Oh, I have to tell a story on him though. Last night we had asked a contractor to come out and give us a bid on a bathroom remodel/fix (we have a leak) and the time was set for after J got home (6:30) well J got home a little early and I was sick so he went to the store and to pick up some take out for dinner and then the contractor shows up. I'm in my sick clothes and J has his cell turned off. After about an hour of contractor talk J shows up with this "I'm so dead" look on his face. I told him that we had decided on neon orange tiles and a tub in the same color. And since he wasn't here he's just have to live with the fact that he had to shower in a giant pumpkin. LOL.
Burbank: Getting absolutely overjoyed. I'm going alone. I am the only radical Scaper in my family. I don't think of myself as all that sociable, but there are a group of people that I really am looking forward to meeting. My first online community experience was a couple of years ago while the Roswell show was on and I was having a very hard time with the suckiness that was that show after its really good start, so I went online to find out about the show and I found this group that was into listing all the problems with the show. And in the middle of pointing out all the problems with Roswell we started discussing good tv and Farscape was our salvation from bad tv.
Well, I gotta get back to work.

OK, so, lots of new info from my two new best friends. buggs, I will NEVER capitalize your name, promise. You're right, it looks kinda different in caps.
Got to the Rousch thread, thanks very much. He is so great, sigh.
So, lemme get this straight Skippy. You're now going to turn your bathroom into something that's a throwback to the seventies with all the orange colors? Do you really like orange that much or was this one of those spur of the moment ideas? Geez, gotta tell you, not so much into orange!
Sorry you were sick, hope you both had a great Halloween. The two year old went as a pirate, too cute. The husband taught him to say "aargh" and I really thought I was gonna break in half from laughing. We dragged him around the neighborhood last night, him approaching doors frozen in fear with his dad but eyes big as saucers at all the colored bags and treats dropped into his pumpkin. We later convinced him that the pumpkin ate everything because we are actually not thrilled with him having suger. I think we may have one year left on that illusion and then he's probably gonna figure out that Daddy eats it all at the end of the night!
Oh poop, it just began to rain. Can Winter be far behind? Am I the only one a mess from this time change thingy and waking up at four thirty every morning? Ugh.
Talking about refi'ing your house. The whole reason I think we are moving is my small kitchen, truly, I know exactly what you're saying. We've got a pretty big house, relatively, with a pool in the back but where does everyone hang out? In my scrunchy kitchen. Las summer I just couldn't take it and that's when we started looking at other houses. But a re-fi and a new purchase are really different when it comes to the paperwork so you're right. But I just can no longer keep my eight hundred pieces of Tupperware crammed into cabinets in the garage, it's nuts, so time to move.
Seems like SaveFarscape is posting about alot of conventions, I sure wish NM would host a decent one. There's gotta be more than just us who watch Farscape and Angel and Charmed and Joan of Arcadia, etc, etc. Burbank should be so cool. After reading all about the convention in San Diego this year I am really tempted to plan to go to that one next year. If our heroes book it I may really have to go!
Speaking of going....psst, really, orange?!lol
Skippy doo
11-03-2003, 09:07 AM
The orange was really just a empty threat. I was very displeased with having to be nice to a perfect stranger while I was home sick in my pjs. Can you imagine bathing in an entirely orange room? I think that might make me ill again.
I had a pretty darn great Halloween. I fought off the cold, gave out candy to the trick or treaters and went out to the late showing of the director's cut of Aliens that they rereleased. It was a very creepy movie to watch on Halloween, but I really enjoyed it.
You live in New Mexico every drop off rain is a miracle. Did you see in the journal about the water levels? We really need the rain. I am going to have the lowflow toilets put in during the remodel. The water problem really worries me.
The time change kills me every time. Every single time. For the next month I just have no sense of what time it is. I wake up at various hours worried I'm late or I don't wake up on time and am late. It just never works out for me.
Also, part of my very good weekend was that I loaned my Farscape S1 dvd set to a friend and I got her hooked. So hooked. I gave them to her on Saturday afternoon, and that night she put in the first disk, intending to only watch one episode. She never went to bed. And she had to work on Sunday. She watched the sun come up while watching it. She loves it. So she calls me on Sunday night asking for the rest of my dvds since she had Monday off. Poor girl. I'll just have to help her get her fix.

A new Scaper, yay. Hey, there are way worse things to get friends hooked on. Like "Little House on the Prairie" for instance.
Yup, just enough rain this weekend to splatter onto the dust and make my car look yucky. By the way, where is our winter weather? Didn't we have at least one snow by this time last year? And definitely get the lo-flo potty's, they will really make a difference as far as saving water. Also, the lo-flo showerheads do a good job too. I mentioned that we have a pool, what a water hog. First, we're always fighting evaporation loss, even tho we keep it covered 24/7. Then, our filter seal cracks, just the tiniest little crack and the water bill tripled that month until we got a new seal. No new pool at the new house, definitely. And no lawn this time around either, we are going xeroscape.
Glad you salvaged Halloween and glad you were just kidding about the orange bathroom. You had me worried for a minute there! I have made alot of bad decisions while sick. You know, you get that, "Who cares?" attitude? Next thing you know you're trying to blow your nose while signing for fifty boxes of girl scout cookies from the little girl who happened to catch you home with a cold. Sounds as tho you survived but I don't know if I think you did the rest of New Mexico a favor by going to the multiplex and seeing a movie in an enclosed room!!!! Hope you were germ free by then. I do love the Alien series tho, it's one of my faves.
Boy, the wind over here is really picking up, I think I just saw one of my seven cats sail by the window. Better go stack some lawn chairs before they all blow over into the pool. Then I'm going to maybe take a nap. See, there's part of the problem with the time change. You're internal body clock is so frelled up that you wanna take a nap to catch up on some sleep then you can't get to sleep later on because you took a nap!! Ugh! lol, stay dry, stay anchored to something and stay away from orange!

I think it did snow last halloween. That's always when I start to expect the weather to turn. At the worst possible moment. Sigh. Its New Mexico.
I'm not sure I can live with the low flow shower head. I love my shower. I have a xeroscaped front and back yards, I try and water things with graywater.
The wind is bad up on the west side. Over here its been more chilly than really windy. Tie yourself down to something, so you don't blow away. :)

Yeah, I'm noticing that Hi-siders in this town don't seem to have as much wind as the west side. I don't understand that. To me, Albuquerque is a big bowl. It's high up on each side and in the middle it's just smooth and flat. If you're sitting in your car at Montgomery and Louisiana you can look up to the left and right of you and see both sides of the bowl. Same goes if you're in the Heights or Westside, you can pretty much see downtown and all around. So how come the Westside is so much windier? Weird.
Well, I got real sick this week. The flu kinda achy sick where everything on your body hurts including your eyelashes. I just today felt like getting out of my pj's. So now I understand what you were saying, if I had a bathroom guy show up I'd probably give him the OK to do avacado green everywhere. Today's the first day I've even felt like lifting my head off the pillow. Hopefully each day will feel better from here.
I sure do have "Burbank envy". Can't believe that I'm buying the home of my dreams but would rather be with actors and fans in California. A home you can pretty much buy whenever, who knows if our beloved stars will return next year? Hopefully, we will have Farscape back on the air by this time next year. I have to believe that somehow, someway, we'll get Farscape back, it's just the best series. I've been watching some of the new stuff out on TV this season and I am really not impressed. Can't believe they pulled Farscape off for the dreck they replaced it with. Hope the new Battlestar Gallactica remake really does crappy numbers. I hear that Sci-lie is spending a fortune to revive it. Well, I won't be watching it and I did enjoy the original in a campy sort of way. Farscape was never campy and never played to the IQ of oatmeal. Farscape was the thinking gal's show.
You can quote me when you're in Burbank! Ahhh, Burbank. OK, I have to go find something to gratify myself as a replacement for not getting to go. Like a massage or something!! Stay warm. lol.

The funny thing is I knew I was writing alot at the con, but I didn't think I was writing this much. My notebook is not that big, but I have pages and pages.

So, near death experience not withstanding, how was the con?! Some of us have been waiting jealously with baited breath for you to spill.
Pres, UNM or Lovelace? I always know when I go to the ER to take a couple of books, a bottle of water and a comfy robe because a trip to the ER around here is a minimum five hour deal.
Everyone has gotten the flu. Everywhere I go people are hacking and snotty and yucky, it's the pits. Did this illness hinder your trip? Nothin' worse than planning a great vacation and then getting sick.
What happened with the Leno sit-in? I watched but maybe I missed y'all.
Feel better. Details of the Con when you can, I am sooooooo really wishing I had gone. LOL.

If you go to my last post (page 5) there's a link to the first day of my con report. It's all about Leno and arriving and meeting people.
I didn't get sick until I was on my way home from the con. By the time we landed in Albuquerque I was miserable. But luckily I felt great during the con.
I've always been lucky that I don't get sick during a vacation, but sometimes right after. My SO blames the recirculated air in planes. Spreading nasty germs.
I actually didn't go to the ER, (I'm just used to saying it) I went to the Lovelace Urgent Care. I had a hour and half, maybe two, wait. Not too bad considering.
Con reports: Thursday (http://www.livejournal.com/users/skippydoo/2003/12/02/) , and Friday (http://www.livejournal.com/users/skippydoo/34684.html#cutid1) . Saturday and Sunday coming soon.

Your SO is really on the mark. I traveled quite extensively when I attorneyed for the Disney Co and I totally agree, I was sick each and every time I got off a plane. Imagine how many miles I logged on those thirteen hour flights to Australia sitting in a germy tube. Yuck.
So I'm watching the Farscape fest on, well, you know, and I'm kinda irked because it suddenly occured to me that they are just using this as a lure for their big Battlestar fiasco tonight.
I'm dying to hear more about the con.
Does anyone that met through Save/Watch Farscape just chat by using their regular e-mail sites? Is it allowed? I am always so lost following the threads and trying to find the con reports. I tried to order a convention t-shirt the other day and I just could'nt do it.
So you ask yourself, how DOES one get through eight years of law school with dyslexia and very little ability to use a computer?!!!!!!!!!!!! I have taken classes and just dropped out because I can't be taught that way. I wouldn't know how to have found you if my husband hadn't patiently spent the past ten years slowly trying to help me use the computer.
I WANT the t-shirts. I WANTED a cookbook, I WOULD like to understand IM. All you guys have such cool graphics too. I can't do that.
'Kay, 'nuff whining. Ooooh, rain is coming down. Perfect for watching Farscape and indulging.
Thanks for letting me ramble. LOL

You were the law for Disney? That's cool.
I felt the wind just as I walked out for lunch. My window was getting all rainy, but it didn't look windy. It kind of looks like it could snow. I'm not sure if I want some snow today or not. If it happens I guess I'll deal.
I'm not sure if I want to watch the train wreck that BSG is going to be, but as long as Sci-Fi shows Farscape it means that someone can come across it and discover the wonders.

Man, you are psychic. My UPS guy wanted to come in out of the rain during delivery of a few Christmas deliveries awhile ago and he saw Farscape on the TV and, gulp, I GAVE him my box set of the first season. Hopefully, another conversion. Now, how do I explain to my husband that I've gotta spend another hundred bucks on the first season of Farscape? Third time this has happened!! Proud of ME!
Hey, great idea.....all us Scapers should just carry Farscape premiere DVD's in our bags to give away to interested watchers!!!
I'd definitely need a raise in my allowance!!
Yeah, some snow predicted down from Colorado. My husband like's to say that New Mexico's always getting crappy weather from Colorado. My Husband's from El Rito. Never been there, he says it's up north and real pretty. That wind blew over our three hundred pound mega BBQ...it's fierce.
The law for Disney? You bet your video/DVD watching a**. Can you say pirating all around the Pan Pacific? My job was to go to Japan, Australia, pretty much all of Asia, from San Francisco, find the bootleggers and kick some frelling butt. My mother said she knew I'd either grow up to act or go into law. Hence all the long pontifications online. Everyone else that "chats" is short, sweet and done. If I can't say it in a thousand words or less it ain't worth saying. I LOVE buggaboo's entries.....three sentences, lotsa great info, fun stuff.
Yeah, sometimes I feel really uncomfortable talking with ya here, like, about the weather in Albuquerque and stuff like that. Since I got my hands slapped that time I'm still on "warning" . It pops up in my private malibox sometimes from the admins......message length needs shortening, inappropraite subject, stuff like that.
You can e-mail me at, OK, insert laugh here, TDisneychick@aol.com. The T stands either for Tami, that's my name, or "The" as in The Disney Chick, but that was taken. I knew you were Sheila because I caught your web site once. Not on purpose, just got lost as usual trying to get here!!!!!
I am laughing so hard at what a dumba** I sound like right now!!!! Computers are suppose to be sooooo drat and the only thing I can do right is type!!!!!
Maybe someday we can grab buggaboo and all meet somewhere for lunch, I think that would be really cool. Stay dry, hita. LOL

:rollin: Hi Steven!
Welcome to the ever-growing New Mexico Farscape group!
We are small in numbers but we are mighty in kickin' up dust...we e-mail, we fax, we do snail mail and we post flyers and postcards all around town to get the Farscape message out.
I'm in The Knolls over on the westside.
So, welcome! :) Post often, keep up with the campaigns and remember...We are Albuquerque and we ARE Farscape!! ;)

Hi all you other New Mexicans! :hi:
I didn't realize there was a New Mexico group here on the FMD boards! My family moved to Alamogordo 6 months ago - we're huge Farscape fans! Let me know if any get-togethers are planned. It's a bit of a drag getting to Albuquerque from the back of beyond, but it might be a good road trip!

:rollin: Yay! We got new scapers! This is truly a week to celebrate!
Yes, we have meetings and get togethers and YES, it would be worth the drive to come on into Albuquerque and, well, get together! :)
The Farscape Annual Convention is in November and a few of us are begining to get our plans together. There is always room for more New Mexicans to share rooms and fly out together or meet up separately. November is going to be here before we know it!
We should try and set up a meet for late April or May. Skippy Doo, buggaboo, are you listening?
We've got new 'Scapers...we've got new 'Scapers...we've got new "Scapers!!!!!!! :rollin:

Just my 2 cents - meeting up on a weekend would be easiest for me 'cuz I have kids in school.
Also, I've been letting a friend borrow my DVDs (she's halfway through season 2) but I haven't told her about this site. I don't want to spoil the cliffhanger at the end of season 2 (re Aeryn). Once she gets to season 3, I'll let her know about this awesome site, and maybe she would be interested in driving up to ABQ to meet other 'Scapers too.
Hope the HUGE potholes in downtown ABQ aren't causing too much trouble for you guys up there!

Oh, was that a pothole I hit on my way to the Courthouse? Thought it was underground parking it was so deep! :(
Yeah, we'll have to get you back in town buggs and do a weekend meet. June isn't so far off.
Pretty sneaky Quiet, harnessing your friend in through the episodes and then exposing her to the the wonderful, wacky world that is WatchFarscape! ;) She'll love us!

Hi gang!
I was hoping I could get some help from Scapers in the ABQ area. I've sponsered a PK draft press kit for the Albuquerque Tribune, as they have a columnist called "the TV Queen" who sounds like a good candidate for scaping. Could anyone volunteer to hand deliver it to the Tribune? It would be a much more personal thing rather than receiving it in the mail - plus no one will think it's a bomb!

Oh, that's a great idea. I'll do it if no one else can. CheerinforChiana could even do it together (if you want T). If you want to PM me with some details that would be great.
How's your friend coming along with watching the show?

Hi Skippy doo
I don't know all the details about when the press kit will be sent out, or when it needs to get to whoever. Harveywhispers is the one who is arraigning all of it - I would put a link here to the thread, but I haven't a clue how to do that!! I'll check with him, and get back to you with the details, or have him contact you! He said in the thread that it doesn't have to be hand delivered, so if it is inconvenient for you, don't worry about it. It was just a suggestion someone else had made.
Kathy took the summer off as far as Farscape goes. Her daughter was home from college, son was learning to drive, and life got very busy. Still, she's halfway through season 3, so she may make it to the end of the 4th season before the mini airs. I got several of the free bumper stickers DominarofAction made up, and stuck some magnets on one before giving it to her, so she's 'scaping away as she drives around! And mine gets seen by all the people at the soccer matches my kids have. So far, that's just Alamogordo people, but hey, every little bit helps!

:news: I'd like to hold a Meetup this month to celebrate the Miniseries. We could hold it on a weekend day if anyone would like to come in from out of Albuquerque.:drivin:
If you would like to sign up to the Meetup Site (http://farscape.meetup.com/3/) so we can organize our gathering it would really help me out.
I'm really starting to feel that Farscape anticipation. New Farscape. It's a dream come true. :crazydanc :bluenana:

It is soon, but people coming from out of town would get a 2 for 1 deal out of it. Farscape Meetup and Balloon Fiesta.
I love Balloon Fiesta.

Hi guys
I would love to meetup, but my weekends are packed with soccer stuff. I thought signing my two boys up for soccer would be good for them, but then I got the game schedule. :hypno: Of course, they can't play games at the same time, or even at the same fields! Even getting them to practice is a royal pain!
Skippy Doo, did you contact Harveywhispers about the PK wars press pack and taking it to the Tribune? If it is a pain for you to deliver, she will just mail it directly to the newspaper. She's hoping to send them out later this week so that there is a two week lead time for any reviews they may write. I hope all this publicity helps - I would LOVE more Farscape!

No, I had completely forgotten about the newspaper. Sorry.

It's not a big deal! I know she's getting stuff together to send out this week, so I thought I'd check with you. I'll have her just mail it right to the paper!
So, when is the Balloon Fiesta? Is it this coming weekend and next week, or next weekend, and the week after? White Sands Nat'l Mon. had a big balloon launch a couple of weeks ago - it was really awesome! We also took the kids into town (to the HS) where they did the glow launch at night. What a treat! And our little launch of 20-30 ballons is nothing compared to the 200+ in ABQ!

Great, Thanks!!!
The Balloon Fiesta starts on Friday. It goes on for 2 weeks, so we get weekends of Mass Ascensions and Ballon Glows I think every other night or so, plus the Special Shapes and Glowdeo (Special Shapes Balloon glow). It's like living in an enchanted world.

The idea of being awake and at work at 2 am makes me want curl up in a ball and die.
So, if you work 2 am- 10 am what time will you be awake afternoon or evening?
buggabboo

Only for a few years. I first caught Farscape in Mexico. A Canadian neighbor brought his dish with him, so I got to catch the fourth season first.
