Are there any other scapers in Houston in contact with ADV, the company that distributes the Farscape DVDs? I was wondering if they were interested in organizing anything local?

If there is any Texas scapers that could make it to Clovis NM on Tuesday, I would appreciate it.

Milly Lewis International, is going to be at the Clovis Holiday Inn for a talent search and general "call". I'm going to be there and I could use some help.

from what I understand at this point is that the local radio station is going to be there and I'm going to try and get an interview and talk about Farscape...*gulp*.

If anyone can make it, please email me and let me know.

Lani Tupu :grr: will be visitng the Cyber Party next week over at the scifi.com bulletin board!

I got confirmation that he will participate from his Personal Assistant today. :aok:

So feel free to drop in on the board next week and see what's happening. The party will go from the 11th to the 17th.:trans:

I'm supposed to get more details as to what times he will be available to post, but at the minimum, his posts will be there on the board for a long time for all to see.

I'll come back and update when I get more details. I just wanted some fellow Texans to be in the loop! :rollin:

Well, my family's in Copperas Cove, TX (near Ft. Hood, north of Austin). They're scapers, but don't spend alot of time online. Although my current residence is in Hawaii, I'll be back in TX for the holidays. Are there any plans for Farscape in Texas during that time? If so let me know.

Also, is anyone in the Austin area thinking of organizing a Make-A-Wish/Two Towers event? I'm helping with one here, but since I won't be here during the premiere I'd also like to hold one near my folks place. The Make-A-Wish headquarters for that region is in Austin so would love to hook up with someone there.

BTW, cybergal, if you read this, please check your PMs.

I'm trying to get to my PM but am having a problem. Got the admin working on it. Will check message the first time I'm technically able to get into the box.

Or go to this page at scifi's bboard where I've been helping with some posts. Here's the direct path to zap over:

http://bboard.scifi.com/bboard/browse.cgi/1/5/984/2316946

I've left the light on in one of the posts so you can email me direct.

:rollin: :rollin: :rollin: :rollin: :rollin:

While I'm here......

The Cyber Party has begun at the scifi bboard. Go on over and check it out. It's not as fancy as these digs, but we're trying to make a point with scifi.

Guy Gross - the awardwinning scorer of almost all of Farscape's music has checked in with a test post. He's working on the music for 420. He will be back on Wednesday to host a thread. More stars to show up later. Lots of stuff to do in the meantime.......

We're havin' a party! :joy: :joy: :joy:

Hey- those in Houston and Surrounding- there is an international Farscape meet-up planned 12-4-02 at 8:00pm. Location is pending- go to http://farscape.meetup.com/top and click on Houston for more details.

Note- we are the 3rd largest group so far (London and New York are ahead of us- of course they each have a population base of 11 million to our 4 million).

I know some other Houston Scapers that don't surf the boards that may show up too.

Scapin' in the Space City!

I joined that group back in August and have yet to meet with anyone since it always gets cancelled. There was only 4 of us signed up at the time. Maybe everyone can go this time. But it's hard to go out during the week, especially since I get up every day at 4am to go to work. Late nights during the week make the next day very hard on me. I need lots of sleep.

Well, color me an idiot, I never even knew this section was here. Typical for an Aggie, eh? :aok: Yeah, I'm from College Station.

I posted a note in the main section about getting people in Houston together to do an ad in the Chronicle, but haven't heard back from anyone. Kitfoxer and I are putting ads in the Bryan Eagle and the A&M paper in January, but we can't handle the expense of the Chronicle as well. Anyone want to help out?

Looking for Texans in the Austin/Waco area to help with a Make-A-Wish / Two Towers event on Sat, Dec 21 in Killeen (that's near Ft. Hood and Temple). Right now it's just me and Dorothy Gail (and what members of my immediate family I can beg to go :) ). It is for a good cause and you just have to come and help promote Farscape while raising money for MAW. If you are interested in attending or helping secure prizes or anything else, please PM or email me. Thanks!

Hope, that's what keeps me going.

It's not the saddest story in the universe, but it's pretty damn sad - I've been trying to catch up despite the grad school/job combo workload, and now I onyly have WSS3 to watch so I can be there for Friday. But due to multiple device failures (and a friend failure, but I won't name names as he feels bad enough) I do not have a copy of it saved anywhere to watch. If anyone in Austin could take pity on me before Friday at about 5:30 pm, I'd love to hear about it at iresgirl@yahoo.com. I was planning to just read the summary on FarscapeWorld and soldier on like a good Peacekeeper, but when I saw the "next week" at the end of WSS2 tonight, I just about started crying. Help me!

It is unbelievable that Sci-fi replace Farscape with Tremors. That is as if Hill Street Blues had been replaced with Mayberry RFD.

Besides SG1 and a few movies, I do not watch Sci-fi anymore. I'd rather put on a couple of blues CDs and read a book.

Hey there TexasScapers!

This is to let everyone know that there's a new fan run convention coming to Houston this June. It's called ApolloCon and is being spearheaded by a NASA Engineer. If you want more information go to:

www.apollocon.org

Or you can PM me here or at Kansas. I have reserved time for an hour long Farscape Panel and will be putting together a Farscape display. The details for this shindig is being developed right now, so if you have any specific needs or desires, now is the time to speak up.

I posted this to the other Texas thread and put a message up on the TexasScapers yahoo forum.

Thanks,

Great news from A Killer Within and Ben! and Brad Keller!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I got this letter from Brad Keller, who is the director of A KILLER WITHIN. He asked me to pass it on to everybody, and he's thinking everybody. Cross post, cut and paste, whatever, to get it out there for any Ben Fans, anywhere, who might be interested.

I've been sending Brad links to the threads at Kansas and FMD about Cannes, and the pics taken there, etc. He LOVED the responses, especially the ones mentioning the fact that we thought Ben was over dressed ... Hmmm... ya never know who's watching, do ya?!

And now, a word from Brad Keller..........

Over the last year I have come to acknowledge and appreciate the passion that the Farscape fans have for the show and particularly for Ben Browder. After working with him it is easy to recognize his good qualities both as a person and as an actor. It is my hope that A KILLER WITHIN will not only produce a great deal of success for the Production Company, but will also give people who are not aware of Ben’s wonderful screen presence a chance to see him perform. So far we have had a great response to the film and look forward to revealing it to the world. I have to make some adjustments to the picture and then I am hoping to have a Dallas premier in September and one in Los Angeles during the AFM (American Film Market) in November. I am trying to get one of our sponsors (Dr. Pepper) to provide a party after the two events. My hope is that these parties will open doors and give more opportunities for people to rub elbows with the excellent cast and crew. I personally have received great words of encouragement from the Farscape community and with that I am deeply moved.

TEXAS, MOTHER FRELLER!

Denton to be exact, very very northern tip of the DFW metroplex. I already posted it in "I Have a Plan", but I'll do it here too.

I'd appreciate full contact info on the Dallas chapter, or just some Scapers in the area of Denton/DFW.

My e-mail is: voiceofbragi@yahoo.com

Please mention that you're Scapers in the tag-line, or else you'll end up in the recycle bin and on the block list (it's my personal e-mail address, and anything from an e-mail address I don't know is assumed to be spam).

I'm really looking forward to meeting some Scapers in my area... none of my friends are (although I'm working on two of them right now). So it's really frelling annoying... I have to talk to myself about Farscape.

Okay, so I talk to myself anyway... but still.....

I was disappointed that they killed D'argo. Yes I thought they'd done it in the first part of the mini but didn't think they'd actually kill him off. But I was extremely glad to be rid of Shikzo. I'm betting that she had been a spy since she first showed up.

Now I'm hoping that we get more Farscape so the rest of the story can be played out, like Chiana's brother, Rygel getting home to Hyneria, and John finding a way back to Earth or finding a place for settling down with his family.

Sadly, like Bragi, I don't have anybody in town who will drool with me over Farscape. ...and I've really worked on them, too! :(

I think there are a few in Austin, though! We ought to have a meetup at Fry's! LOL!!

Anyway - Peacekemper (I love typing that!) - don't worry. They kept telling us parents not to expect a 4 year degree to actually be earned in only 4 years!!! It takes 5 years nowadays. You've heard about Fireside Entertainment, and A Killer Within? I'm a little fahrbot about that, too. Kind of a major Benaholic type fan. :D

Did you know they have a special Scaper Edition of AKW? ...and that it was all filmed in Dallas? I used to live in Dallas, and I recognized nearly all of their locations. LOL!

As to people in the Austin area, I've been trying to get everyone I know, i.e: people in the RTF department, to at least give farscape a chance. You guys are NOT going to frelling believe this!!!!!!!
 :D
How's this for a Texas Scapers Meetup?....

The Dallas Premiere of A Killer Within screening will be November 18th at the Inwood theater at 5,7 and 9pm. One of those will be for Cast and Crew, and the others will be for the public.

I had booked my plane ticket for Burbank on Wed, the 17th!!! I'll go back and change it if Ben's going to be there, though. At this point, I think they're hoping he will because they want to promote him.

This means we need to round up all the Scapers we can to go and scream, cheer, and wave for Ben!

Any takers? Any ideas on things we can plan?

I'm going to talk to Brad Monday and need to have a list of things we can do that the regular publicist won't do (she'll do the papers and radio stations and tv stations) What's left? Maybe we need a list from her where they'll be on air, and we can either show up or call in?

Come on, guys - ideas needed here so we can participate!

I thought the Dallas Premiere of A Killer Within screening had already happened or been cancelled! I'm open for whatever we can get going. Hope like hell I don't have a test that night in class. I'll have to take late if we do.

Let us know what you find out Monday so we can make plans. I'm excited now!

Oh yeah, I am located up in Richardson (north dallas)

There's a guy over in Plano who wants to go, and he's trying to get a group together. Go check it out at Kansas.

http://forums.scaperoute.com/kansas/index.php?topic=21371.0

That would be so cool!! You guys could meet up there, see the movie, maybe get the Dallas Morning News to mention that Ben has loyal fans! If you guys can get all together, I'll ask their publicist if she can get a nod for Scapers everywhere. We need you guys as our reps! (those of us who can't make the Dallas premiere)

The Inwood Theater is in a fun neighborhood, too.

Aack! Somewhere around FMD I've posted the link for the Inwood Theatre. It looks like you can buy your tickets online. Then you could just plan everything else amongst you!

Check out the AKW has a premiere date thread

When I went to the Inwood Theater site yesterday, it didn't show that you could buy tickets for Nov. 18. I'll have to check around the other sites. Just in case I missed something. Which isn't hard for me! LOL

Well it looks like we have some interest in this. I will be driving in from Temple, TX if anyone would like a ride. I will be coming back that night as I have a 10am flight out of Austin the next morning.

The guy over in Plano is me. :)

Most of you probably know me as player over at Kansas and the Dom. If you're interested in doing a meet up, just e-mail me and we'll come up with a plan.

Wish I could be there. But the demands of my professors cannot be quelled by claiming Farscape fandom, tried that already. I'll think of you all fondly while I'm at home writing on the premire night. :(

Just checked the "A Killer within" site and found this

"Los Angeles screening during the American Film Market: 1:00pm, Sunday November 7th

Dallas screening at the Magnolia Theater: Thursday November 18th
5pm open to public
7pm cast and crew
9pm open to public

The Magnolia theater is located at 3699 Mckinney Ave. (between Blackburn St and Lemmon Ave E)"

Looks like we either do the 5pm or the 9pm show.

Have we decided on a place to meet yet? Or which show we are going to? The 9 o'clock showing would be better for some of us coming in from far away but I would like to be at the theater before 7 to see the cast / crew if possible.

Mysticalseeker, here is one spot that has been suggested but we have confirmed anything yet,

One spot I've been considering for us to meet at is the Cafe
Brazil on Central between University Blvd. and Mockingbird Ln.
It's sign is big enough to see while doing 70 down Central. We
could meet up there, then travel north to Lovers Ln., and take
that street all the way to the Inwood.

speedfweak suggested that one.

Hey All!

Just me here to let y'all know what's going on.

The plan is to meet at the Cafe Brazil in University Park at
6:00. The Cafe is located at 6420 N. Central Expressway.
Here's the URL to Yahoo for directions:

http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?&Pyt=Tmap&addr=6420 N. Central
Expressway&city=Dallas&state=TX&zip=75206

At 6:30, we will travel to the Magnolia for 7:00 showing to
support those who made the movie. Be sure to dress nice, and
maybe even make some signs to show our support for Ben. Once
the cast and crew are inside the theater, we will travel back to
Cafe Brazil and wait until 8:30 to stand in line to see the
movie.

We hope to see you all there!

For those of you that are not on the TXArea Scapers Yahoo group, I would like to inform you that I am working on getting David Franklin to ApolloCon 2006 in Houston TX, June 23-25. He has made a very generous offer to us to come to Texas. The ConComm will provide accommodations and I am in need of a few more donations to get the rest of the money needed to get him here.

ApolloCon is a very small convention going into it's 3rd year. It's nearby and is very inexpensive to attend. (More info at www.apollocon.org ) It's much cheaper than going to Burbank or Florida for one of the larger cons. This offers you the opportunity to see David in a very intimate invironment and on top of that look at what he has offered as an incentive:

The very generous David Franklin has offered to do a Meet & Greet with the TXAreaScapers that donate towards getting him to Houston. To facilitate donations I have opened up my PayPal ( www.paypal.com ) account to accept money. The account name is the same as my email address:

cybergal67@msn.com

Please put "David Franklin" in the subject line as a reference. If you don't trust PayPal then send me a check or money order to:

PM me for my land addy.

And again, put "David Franklin" in the reference line. If you choose to mail the money, please send me a private email and let me know that it's on its way with the amount included. FYI - I don't want the money addressed to ApolloCon as I would have to give that money over to the ConComm and I would prefer that if we manage to go over the necessary amount that we give the additional funds to David or that it gets donated to the Con's selected charity for 2006, either way, I would prefer that the Scapers make the choice.

To start this off, I am donating the $300 that I got from doing the Publications for ApolloCon last year. You don't have to give that much. So give $5, $10, $20, $50, $100, $1000 (Like a good Scaper I have hope... hahaha), any amount will do.

This is an opportunity to get to see and talk to David up close and personal... So pull out your piggy banks and show David Franklin (aka Capt. Braca) some of that Scaper love and generosity. Let's make getting Capt. Braca to Texas in June a Realized Reality!

Thanks!
cybergal
<(~_~)>

A complete accounting of all monies received for this will be available for your inspection at the con.

Hi Ya'll!!! I'm in Wichita Falls, Tx. I think I must be the only Scaper in town. I can't find anyone who has even seen Farscape in this podunk town! I've met some great Scapers on TF and BBO and SciFi forums, but the very closest one has been in Dallas. I'm going to the convention in Nov. and am hoping to meet more Texans, besides all the great Scapers from the forums! If you are from or know someone from Wichita Falls, please let me know!!!!! I need some closer Scapers to get together with and discuss EVERYTHING FARSCAPE! lol tatoomama

South Padre Island has at least one Farscape Fan ......

and maybe the only scifi fan? one that watches the scifi channel at least ..... so I just used a farscape term in an email to a friend and got side tracked, as I usually do, and went looking to see if anything new was happening in the scifi universe and I see that there's gonna be a" websomething" of farscape? cool, can't wait! After seeing "flash" (in the pan) I can see why the powers to be would want to find better shows, even if they have to go back and pull out one they tossed out .......

.... but in the end, scifi will only suit the few ..... the rest of the world would rather watch ecw (or whatever it's called) .... got to pay the bills somehow huh? .......
