View Full Version : Article about cancellation and campaign in German mag
This months issue of German magazine "TV-Highlights" dedicates almost a whole page to the cancellation and the fans efforts to bring the show back.
Quite interesting since Farscape was cancelled in Germany a while ago....

Is there a link where this article is available? I love every excuse to read stuff in German, and if it can be about Farscape, all the better :)
When I find the time I will scan it and post if for you :)

Hell, I did try the Sun, who then said try the Radio Times... have yet to try them I'm afraid.

But now (march 2003), there is again something about Farscape in the "TV-Highlights": http://people.freenet.de/fwkavatarsfcommunity/TVHighlightsBerichtFarscape.jpg
Link first posted by AnduraNova in a German mailing-list - at least, that's where I saw it first.

Oh wow, great article! Finally a magazine that I might be able to actually go and buy too. (I hope)
True what they write about Sat1, I never saw Farscape on that Channel and I blame it on them, that nobody I know has ever heard of Farscape I should sue them for causing me emotional distress!!!! Grrrrr..... It was the Sky's Sci-Fi (cable) that got me hooked on Farscape in the end! And it's thanks to the BBC that I can still watch it now.
I've got to read it again tomorrow when I'm more awake but they do seem to go on about Grayza quite a bit at the end of the article which I find surprising considering they don't go into detail about any of the other characters. But I guess whatever/whoever keeps people interested is good.
good night now.
Gosh, I am sorry, I actually forgot about it again :( Darn, I am working too much....
If anyone is still interested in the first article I will go and get it scanned right away. Apologies !
Okay, here it comes. It's too big to attach so you can find it here:

how do you say "save farscape" in german? :D

Yes, that would be interesting to know but my guess would be the ratings must have been really bad. As they explain in the article the episodes were not shown in the right order, they kept changing airing time and then it ended up being show after midnight?
But what I would really like to know is how the frell do they say frell in German ? :rollin:
How did they translate dren, drannit, frelnik, mivonks, loomas, yotz and all the rest or did the Germans get translater microbs??
Tazey from the Kansasboard is sending me a clipping of the Flax in French, that should be interesting mes amis, hehehe
Crichton speaking French *ROFL* D'Argo speaking French bwaahaaaaaahaaaa :rollin: :rollin: :rollin:

Hi there!
Seems like no other German wanted to answer your questions yet.
So, to Darkness Ascending: I can't say much about the ratings, cause I just don't know where to find them listed (and as you know Farscape had been cancelled here in Germany long ago), but 'save farscape' is translated to 'rettet Farscape'.
To Kyntio: They say frell in German like they say it in English. There's just no way to translate it. And it's the same with words like dren, mivonks, yotz . . . and so on. Actually these words aren't even really English, it's Farscape-language and I think everyone (no matter from which nationality) does understand it.

RueScap!
Well, thanks for clearing that up I guess it does make sense those words are not English they are alien. Still seems weird immagining Claudia saying something like "Wo zum frell warst Du?" or telling Ben "Du bist ein frelling Dranit" ??? Gonna have to wait and hope they'll show Farscape on the German Channels again. I've just gotta see that!
Vielen Dank und bis bald

So they lack imagination. Only in english would we take something normal -----chew it up spit it back out and make something so totally different. That is why FARSCAPE works. 0h! I just plainly can't read GERMAN nor speak eloquintly.......:D :D

Hey, Kyntio!
I wonder where you come from since your German is that good. And to be true, I started watching Farscape in the original version (there was just no other way than buy myself the DVD's from the U.K. to see season three) and I think I'm no longer able to watch Farscape in German if they ever decide to bring it back. Listening to Ben Browder's real voice is something I just don't want to miss.

I actually live in Switzerland *LOL*! That's why my German is quite good. But I totally missed Farscape on the German Channels, never saw it. My boyfriend is English and he brought a Sky satellite dish with him from England so I get to watch the UK Channels like Sci-Fi and the BBC etc.
I agree with you that no one should mess with Ben's original voice hehe! I always watch movies in their original version, sometimes with subtitles if they're in a language I don't speak. They just loose too much when they're dubbed.
But I was genuinely curious as to how they would have translated all that alien lingo and I'm still going to watch at least one ep in German if it's on again.
I see you live in Berlin, heard that's great city?!
Oh yes, we can communicate in English or in German if you like :)
Gruss

Hi, Kyntio!
So, now I understand. Switzerland is amazing, I spent some days there in February and never saw so much snow. It was fantastic. I did skiing and cross-country skiing for the first time in my life.
Yeah, you heard right. Berlin is just great. I love to live here. It's a multicultural city with its own kind of flair and its own history. You know, the wall . . . I don't know whether the tourists like it too, but I grew up here and I wouldn't want to miss the good and bad times.
As long as we communicate with everyone else being able to read what we have to say I'd prefer English. I've got to improve and practise my language skills anyway. But maybe, if you want to, we can talk German on other channels.
Viele Grüße und bis bald.
