Didn't happen to see a report on the Minneapolis/St. Paul Rally so thought I'd post a few words. The rally went wonderfully given we got a late start at organizing it. About 10 Minnesota Scapers showed up with a few more unable to attend but with us spiritually. Minnesota Comic Book Assn. hosted a convention (c. 100 vendors) this weekend, and they kindly let us stop by on Oct. 5 from 1-5 pm to hand out flyers and talk to people. They also waived admission charges for us! Can I get a "Hell Yeah!" for MCBA??
Loki read us a special rally message of good luck she had received from a "very special fan" of Farscape...and then we all split up and just started canvassing the place, handing out flyers and talking to people. Mickie brought Rygel along and set him out prominently near the admissions tables at the front doors...he was holding a "Save Farscape" sign. Marilyn did a great job with colored flyers and magnets! (And a personal thanks to her for creating a Save Farscape t-shirt for me.) The concensus at the end of the rally was that the people at the convention (both vendors and attendees) were receptive to the message and most indicated they would check out the Save Farscape website for more details on what they could do, and also took flyers printed with names and addresses of the networks and said they would do their part in contacting them.
Considering the Minnesota Twins were in the middle of a game on Saturday and most people in town had their faces plastered to TV screens, we all agreed that the venue was perfect for our rally, and we reached a lot of people who were sympathetic to the cause. At the end of the rally, we had a group pic taken before we went our separate ways. Mickie has a link over on Midwest Scapers yahoo site. (And there was talk of having another get together as we near the airing dates of the last 11 episodes.)
