Even better news is that they're running all Season 1, 2 & 3 eps, and hopefully they'll buy s4 also.
In addition, Nine will be airing Season 3, either in December or January. But knowing Channel 9, don't expect great timeslots or uncut episodes. Keep a close eye on your TV guide.

hi Deanna,
I saw this info on the Australian Farscape forum too.
Being without foxtel – the NINE airing S3 is the knock-me-over bit.
If it's true that it's coming back to Australian free-to-air, well, thats just amazing!
Where did you find this lush tidbit? Surely not C9!?
;)
(Just desperately trying not to get my hopes up...and desperate to confirm that it's more than a rumour....? No offence intended of course.)
:)
Thanks,
J

Hi Joymax.
Yeah, I got my info from Channel 9. Everytime I've rung them since the start of the year they've said January, althought I haven't rung them lately, so another phonecall may be in order.
Channel 9 are pretty good at frelling us around, but last year when I rang them they did say it would return in December, and they were right with that one. That's probably the only thing in the world I'd ever give them credit for.
They do have the rights though.

I'd have to double check this, but I think there was some agreement by which Foxtel bought the rights to all three seasons, but that they can't show S3 until Channel 9 does, so Channel 9 will show them this year.

Thanks for that confirmation of what you know.
Warrants a cautious – YAY!!!! (?)
I wonder it they're going to do every-nighters like last year (was a bit of a pain to video...but great overdosing indulgence anyway!)...?
Anyway – thanks again for sharing the info.

Hi everybody,
This is the whole poop on the Australian airing of Farscape. I understand that Channel 9 has forfeited its rights to air season 3 to Foxtel, but have not confirmed this beyond doubt, so don't quote me.

Foxtel, Australia's biggest subscription television provider, have finally confirmed that they have taken over from Nine Network as the Australian investment partner on Farscape from season four onwards. They have also announced that Farscape will begin airing in primetime on their FOX8 channel as of October this year, beginning with season two (season one having already run on FOX Kids last year), running through into next year with season three. Foxtel will premiere season four in 2003.
This is fantastic news for Australian fans, who, despite the show filming there, have been starved of any showings bar a brief stint on Nine Network and a run on FOX Kids last year. Nine Network seemed to have misunderstood what the show would be about, somehow expecting a more child oriented show as opposed to the adult sci-fi/drama they got instead, and have constantly dodged requests to air the show. Read the full press release from Foxtel at the end of this post. Many thanks to Joan Hedman of Farscape Weekly for getting confirmation on this news.
FOXTEL PRESS RELEASE
Farscape lands a primetime home on FOXTEL.
FOXTEL is proud to announce the international hit sci-fi series Farscape, made in Australia, will be airing primetime on the FOX8 channel from October, 2002.
The series is produced by Jim Henson Television and Hallmark Entertainment and, since its launch in 1999, it has become a huge hit for the SCI FI Channel in the United States and the United Kingdom.
FOXTEL has taken over as the Australian investment partner on Farscape as of Series Four, which is currently shooting at Homebush, in Sydney.
Director of Television Brian Walsh said FOXTEL was delighted to support this outstanding drama series, which has been an unqualified success in many television markets around the world.
"Farscape will be comprehensively promoted and marketed by FOXTEL and the series will be showcased on FOX8, the number one channel on Australian subscription television,” he said.
“It is our clear intention to support this extraordinary series in a primetime slot and give it the promotion it deserves.”
Farscape’s Executive Producer David Kemper said: "We're particularly pleased to have a wonderful new broadcast partner here in Australia.Farscape makes use of the finest talent on the continent, both in front of and behind the camera, and we believe that Australian audiences will thrill to the ride that is captivating viewers around the globe. We think we're Australia's best-kept television secret, and look forward to sharing that secret with all of FOX8 and FOXTEL's subscribers."
FOX8 will pick up the story at Series Two and continue through into next year with Series Three. (Series One has already run on FOX Kids.)
The Australian premiere of Farscape Series 4 will be on FOXTEL in 2003.

*mutters randomly* Hey, is there a section of this board for complaining about TV networks? Because I desperately feel the need right now.
Mum hasn't paid the PayTV bill, so we are without Foxtel. This wouldn't matter if channel 9 would still show it. But noooooo. I only find out channel 9 is airing it in time to watch about 5 or 6 tantalising episodes. Then it's gone again. AAAaaaarhgh!
*cough*
I needed to get that out of my system. Farscpae was the only show I could say that I'd seen every episode of, but now I can't. I like that show, and I don't like the TV networks now. I miss Farscape.

Hi all you Aussie Farscape fans out there (you know who you are!)
I must say that I am very disappointed with Channel Nine's committment to what was once their pet project. They didn't even show the "bring-you-up-to-date" episode 3x00 - Farscape: Undressed!! Thank GOD for Foxtel though, they've almost caught up to Ch 9 already (just since October!!).
Anyway, I have an offer for you Aussies, esp those of you who aren't lucky enough to have Foxtel. I have almost every Farscape episode ever made on CD (some aren't great quality, but most are (250+MB each), and anyway it's better than nothing, wot?). If you are interested, buy a lot of blank CDs and send me an email at
kryten3@hotmail.com
Hopefully, it shouldn't be a problem to help you all out, but if you aren't allowed to - or aren't keen to - give out your address, if you have a PO Box or a work address (that's what I'll be giving you), I'm very happy to do all that.
Also, I have all of season 1, most of season 2, and some of season 3 on video, but of course, videos are a little harder to post than CDs, so only in direst of circumstances (not really - I'm amiable).
OK so this may be illegal, but whose FRELLING fault is that for not giving us Farscape in Australia? (Hint hint for any undercover Channel 9 people reading this - you brought this piracy on yourselves)
Anyway, send an email if you are interested. Put subject as "Farscape CDs" or something, so I don't delete it as spam.
Also, I have one ep of Scrubs on CD and several on video
Several eps of Stargate on video and almost all (20MB ea) on CD.
Cheers, guys.

Just got off the phone to Foxtel's programming dept. - poor girl I spoke to hadn't ever heard of the show:
Me: "He - I'm calling with a couple of questions about Farscape"
Fox Chick: "Far-Scape? okaaay.. *taptaptap* That's scifi isn't it?"
Anyway, the deal is: Season 3 debuts on Foxtel in April, on Tuesdays at 8:30pm (no date released) - season 4 will follow suit :D
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! :D

Ok so just a quick Question. Does anyone know for sure when Channel 9 will bring back Farscape. I assume it will be in December holidays. I worked out to that season 4 will air on Fox 8 in about October. I think. So yeah. Seems to far away, I can't wait. :bounce: :finger:

As far as they've told us, channel nien will be showing the rest of season 3 in December - however they can't keep things straight from one week to the next, so I for one am not holding my breath on the validity of that claim in 8 months time. We can hope, though :)
Nien have no airing rights for season 4, however, so it's unlikely they'll ever show it - hurrah for Foxtel!!

Foxtel, Australia's biggest subscription television provider, have finally confirmed that they have taken over from Nine Network as the Australian investment partner on Farscape from season four onwards. Maybe we Americans should forward this to the American Fox network and beg them to pick up production costs here, too. Maybe we can get Fox to fund a fifth (and sixth...) season.
Maybe?

WOW!!!!!!!!! That is AWESOME!! Could that be a sign that there IS going to be more?...a very subtle one, granted, but it means that Foxtel who is (brilliantly) claiming that they are going to properly promote and support our Beloved Show are going to support future seasons (if there are some?) Does this mean that they truly are committed???? I hope so!! :D Because WE ARE gonna get MORE!

This is good news.
At last an Aussie network will show Farscape, not just frell about like Channel 9 did - which will be really cool for the Aussie cast and crew!
Better still, for the rest of us, this could be a good sign for the future too.

Season four began on September nine, straight after the season three finale. Episode five is going to be on on the seventh of October (don't ask me what it's called, I'm having the eps taped and won't be watching them till I have the s3 DVD's).

Yep, thank god that FOX8 is playing S4 of Farscape. I would be lost without them! Just watched Promises last Tuesday. I also just picked up my S3 DVD box set 2 days ago too! Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!
