Edited 11/12/02
We have now formed the Pacific Northwest Farscape Fans.
We have many November and December actionable ideas, but we are few.
Help us by contacting us with a desire to help. There are ways!
Two of us have identified ourselves, but come on, there have to be more 'scapers in our fair state. Make yourselves heard. We can take some action AND we have neilson market homes in PDX.
Let's plan to make a difference!
We have ideas and plenty of time...

Hey Sparky! :hi:
Sparky and I have already talked about some plans, we'd love to include some more Oregon scapers! (Did you get my latest pm by the way Sparky?) Don't be shy! Heck, we don't even care if you're an Oregonian, any Vancouver, Wa and vincinity out there? :D
Edit: For heavens sake, it would help if I checked my own pm's every now and then wouldn't it? :D Thanks for replying Sparky! :)

I'm here...I'm here
I posted a few messages elsewhere and had given up on any OR area Scapers. I'm so glad I checked the boards again. I live in Beaverton and would be happy to join in and help any way I can.

I can meet any night after work, except Friday, Sat, Sun this week. Next weekend's ok
As for place, how about Wash. Sq or Rainy Day Games (Bvton-Hillsboro Hiway)? I would prefer the game store.

I live in Phoenix (just south of Medford and north of Ashland), sounds like you're all a ways north of here. Damn.
Um well... I'm pretty much just sending emails and stuff so far, and not a whole lot else. I'm trying to tell everybody I know to boycott sci-fi, as I HATE them now... oh, and I know of one guy who I work with who has seen 2 or 3 episodes, but he never really got into it, and to be honest if he'd known there was pre-marital sex in the show, he'd probably have never watched it in the first place... oh well.
other than that, nothing spectacular going on here...
Rhonda

Hey Brody, thanks for everything you're doing. Too bad you're so far south, that's like what a 4hr drive at least? You might try an idea I heard about here (sorry I can't give credit right this second, my mind is blank) of making copies of the first 2 eps on videotape and leave them just laying around somewhere (with a big free sticker on it) with a little insert on what the tapes are about and etc. People looooove free stuff and once we get the hook into them Farscape can just reel them in! We just have to hook em! And if you ever need some ideas on what to do next there's always the Friday To-Do list! Good luck on everything!:aok:
Edited to add: http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4558 That's where I found the idea, sorry jfranka! :P
brody

but I don't have tapes of any old episodes... I know I can get a ton of dvd-rips off of kazaa, but they won't play unless the person already has the DivX codec on their computer, and that would seriously limit the number of people I could expect to get interested... I would really love to be able to burn CDs of the first few episodes... in my area, though, not too many techno-savvy people, so I doubt it would work out well... hmmmmm...
Video CD could work (runs in most DVD players), but I could only get one episode per CD, and I would need to convert from DivX to VCD, which I actually don't know how to do... anybody know of any software that does that? Maybe I should post this on another thread to get more people's attention...
Sparky

Welcome to the Oregon group brody!
The only way I know to get tapes is to make 'em off tv.
My neighbor has a TIVO that he taped from.
Another cool idea I saw was making bookmarks and leaving them in bookstores, cafes, or wherever people gather. The book marks would have some catchy phrase to raise interest, and then tell
about "watch Jan. 10 on SciFi" or Rent Farscape at Blockbuster or
Hollywood, or whatever vid store carries them.
I have personally converted 3 people by inviting them to
Farscape fests on weekends, where I show 4-5 eps.
in a night. This doesn't cost me anything. I read about
a woman who invited 15 people to watch one day, lunch and dinner included and ended up with over 100 letters written during the "festival" .
One fan in Idaho got the local library to let her/him show
Farscape every Friday nite. I have checked around and can't
find any libraries that show movies, tho. I can't afford to rent a theater, so...can't do it.
I also kinda like the idea of leaflets or half sheets with
a mysterious phrase and info on renting it (to get them hooked).
If they are hooked, they will find out where and when to watch it.
'nuff said, it's nice to know you are here. :P

Another Oregonian here and just joining the ranks. I'm a new Oregonian.....
I've been reading the forums since I heard about the cancellation and decided it was finally *time* to register. Don't know how much help I can be, but the show *is* worth it.

I am soooooo glad to hear from you two! It's great to have someone from Vancouver scape sister! Thanks for joining us! Sparky and rorykearn have already gotten together, from Sparky's e-mail it sounds like it went very well. I couldn't make it because I had to work (sigh) and I don't have a babysitter at night because my husband works swing shift for Kaiser Permanente at the Nicolai data center (I think it's called that, he's an NT systems admin) in Portland. Just a hop, splash and jump from you scape sister. We will definately let the both of you and all the world know when the next meeting is. I'm so so so happy, this made my day!!!!:bounce: :bounce:

Hi debrina and scape_sister!
It is great to get 2 more folks in the Pacific NW
to work with.
What rorykern and I decided was to make some half page flyers, see if we can hand em to folks going into blockbuster or Hollywood, and do a guerilla bookmark campaign.
Well, we had lots of ideas we are lookin into.
Hopefully we can all meet some day. Rhonda
has suggested lunch Friday. So let's see if we
can all get together.:hi: :aok:

:hi: Hi all,
Sounds good, if we make it an early lunch.
Since, I'm new to the area...just give me a reasonable destination (mapquest is my friend) and time in a PM and I'll see what I can do.
:)
Sparky
10-30-2002, 01:37 PM
2 ideas for a meeting:
Lunch Friday 11-12-ish
Sun Afternoon (more time for us to talk?)
Place: somewhere off I-5 and 217-ish is midway between most of us,
or at least same driving time ('couv to 217 = 20 min? It's been about 8 yrs since I drove that route.)
It would be good to exchange our real email addy's so we don't have to count on seeing the PM board to discuss things.
What rorykern and I are looking into:
*half page flyers for video stores - involves city/county rules
about leafleting on public sidewalks
*guerilla bookmarkings: book marks with mystery, critics say quotes, rental info and date for watching S412-22 leave in bookstores and Coffee shops (u no who), which should reach half the population
*Free showings: looking for cheap or free space at libraries, etc, portable dvd player and projector + free advertising in calendars on
radio, tv, newspapers, newsletters.....
*One local radio show contact for mention by talent of campaign
* I forget what else, but that seems like enough for 2 brainstormers and pizza.
If we meet for lunch Fri. at 11-12, we can talk other ideas, or divide our tasks.
Farscape: Puts the sigh in Sci Fi.
:D   :rollin:

Welcome to everyone on the OR list. This is exciting.
The only other thing I can think of that Sparky left off is that I'm looking into advertising in a local paper or two....that way if we do have a video/DVD showing of eps somewhere, we can invite the general public.
I've found some reasonable advertising so far.
I'm up for the meet tomorrow. Wherever and whenever it is.

:( I should have seen this coming...I can't meet with you all tomorrow. My husband's speedometer broke on his car (so he'll spending tomorrow morning looking for a new one) and my kids have the day off from school (Oregon has the shortest school year in the country...they have a total, not including weekends, 31 days off from school) and I'm stuck anyway since my husband will be using my car. I can't be there on Sunday either because I have to work. Sigh. I'm so frustrated. If someone will be so kind as to e-mail or post here what goes on in the meeting (like Sparky did for me last time, thanks Sparky) I will be very grateful. I'm sorry everyone, I really thought I could make it this time.

Rorykern,
Great news about the Beaverton Library screening room, and the calendars. Since Scape Sister can't meet til after 3, and I have
to work til 5, let's get together Sunday. You can call me Friday or I will call you. Then we can set a time if Sun's ok w/ you so our
sister can join us. Debrina: can you PM me and try to get together Sunday. rorykern has some exciting news for showing free movies to the uninitiated folks out there for free.
Publicity will be the trick and rorykern has some leads on free community calendars and newsletters.
See ya soon I hope!

Hi all,
I decided to set a date, time , place and see who
can show up. Sounds like S_Sis and I can do it.
Sunday 2pm Powell's Books in Cascade Plaza across from
Wa. Sq. Gave S_sis directions. Please come if possible.
Tried to get in touch with rorykern and sent mail to
Rhonda, before making plans, but couldn't talk to them.
Feel Freeeee to call me, but use my real name if someone answers,

11-03-2002, 11:34 PM
For Rhonda and Debrina,
scape_sis, rorykern and I and a friend of rorykern met today and
came up with some PLANS. Basics are:
Leaflets outside 3 Block Busters and inside 2 malls, guerilla bookmarking, and free showings of FS at Beaverton Library 3 or 4 times before Jan 10th.
We are also gonna get T SHIRTS!!!!! YESSSSSSSSSs!. There are a lot to chose from, and they sound great. It will really
help with the mall thing. Scape_sis said she handed out lots of flyers at the 'couv mall, and many people who were fans didn't know it was cancelled, so she got to a lot of the casual viewers who didn't know about the cancellation.
rorykern has some great ways to get free publicity for the showings. Scape_sis is going to KUFO event tomorrow to hand out flyers and talk to the DJ there (free Spiderman giveaways by the station).
We actually came up with dates for our actions, but I will post them later. We need your help. Some of us volunteered kids and parents, but we will do much better if we
1. have more people
2. can work in shifts or cover different dates rather than all of em.
Please think about which eps we should show, maybe 2 each time. We should be ready to suggest and agree soon.
More details coming your way... tomorrow.
rorykern and scape_sister: I had a good time, its an exciting plan, and clever!!!

Wow, sounds like a lot was accomplished. Wish I'd been there. I love the t-shirt idea, can't wait for that! My favorite bookmark page is http://www.pgniteshade.com/gigienthusiast/bookmarks.html I love the blue! My own humble opinion of course. I'll get some of those done this week so they'll be ready to hand out/strategically leave around. (A huge thank you to the creator of those book marks by the way!) We're supposed to be having rain soon and with the holidays sneaking up it will be prime hunting...I mean information sharing with the general public...within a couple weeks. I'll start mulling over ep suggestions, I'll have to keep in mind the ones that even a newbie could understand. I'm steering toward 1st season eps I believe, I'll let you know. Thank you so much for the update on the meeting! I really appreciate it! :)

:spin: scape_sis checking in! I went to the Kufo event today! I won two DVD's!!! Anyways here's the scoop. I got there about 12:10 pm (I don't get out of class until noon) and there was a small group huddled around the kufo swag team and Boomer (I think he's the guy the DJ's tease/make fun of/ or make him do the street work) Anyway I walked right up and gave him the flyer and introduced myself and our cause and he said he remembered the show ("It has that blue guy on it, right?"). I calmly told him it was a woman (Zhaan). We all laughed. He said he'd talk to his boss (the main DJ's) and try to talk about it!
I think I made a memorable impression, since somehow I lucked out winning two DVD's!! ("The savefarscape chic won a DVD!") Applause then followed. I printed 30 copies of the flier and passed out 17. I had to get back to class at 1:10 pm. I gave up lunch. (some lifesavers, literally saved my life!) So I was only there from 12:10 to 12:50 (drive time). But I got a lot of positive responses.
It wasn't very busy there but it was Monday. It was a very big Blockbuster so I feel that it would be the best location in Vancouver for our little stake out. I bet it'll be swamped on fri or sat. If the radio station picked that location, we should just follow their footsteps.
Well going to check some other things out. Talk to you ladies soon! I had a great time on Sun!;) ;)

Hi, all! I've been away....not feeling well.
Scape sister, you are AWESOME! That is great about the KUFO thing! I loved reading it. Thanks for the flyer, I'm working on that right now.
The meeting yesterday went well. I'm going to the mall tomorrow to hand out bookmarks....and since I'm going to go to Best Buy for CD's, I thought I'd make a few about buying the DVD's and see what happens.
Also, I'm oging to send out the email about T-shirts again, since I'm ordering shirts tomorrow or Wednesday morning....and want to make sure everyone that wants one gets one.
Rhonda and Deb....if you want let me know ASAP.
Also, meeting next Sunday at my place, I'm downloading music vids now too, I have about 15 already on CD for viewing....I'll send my address out to our group in email.

The major malls, and Fred Meyer do not allow
handing out flyers or bookmarks, and security will
kick us out if they catch us doing it overtly. This includes
giving anything out in the parking lots.
That leaves checking with stores, it is up to them about letting us
do it in their stores.
Next Step?
Pioneer Sq is only open public area that may have
shoppers on 11/29, that I can think of.
There are sidewalks in front of Clackamus, but they
are surrounded by turn lanes and cars, not pedestrians.
Sidewalks are not conducive, since 95% of people going
to malls drive.
What does that leave? More Block Busters?
Should I check Fry's, they sell ALOT of S1. dvd's.
(fun fact, 80% of OR's population live w/in 30 miles of
Fry's - Wilsonville. That doesn't mean they all go there,
but it is the GO TO place for video, music and PC games
south of PDX)
scape_sister
11-19-2002, 05:12 PM
I haven't checked but I'm sure Vancouver Mall has the same policy. As for where to go now, I feel Pioneer SQ is our best bet.
Also, I feel we should make guerilla trips to stores together, since we can't use the malls. I feel we should target these stores in our area even if they are located in a mall.
Fry's (Sparky's idea sounds good)
Best Buy
Suncoast
Barnes & Noble
B. Dalton Books
Walden Books
Gaming stores
libraries
colleges
etc. any more you guys can think of
I think on the dates we wanted to do the malls, we should meet up and do this instead, might be able to hit multiple locations in one day. If we recruit others we can meet up, split list of locations, then do our job.
I also feel Blockbuster jobs could be expanded possibly?
What about guerilla-ing the sci-fi, romance, action sections of dvd's and videos in movie stores?
Let me know what you think
scapesis
Rhonda
11-20-2002, 12:23 AM
O.k, maybe it rains too much or maybe it's just a bad idea but if we can't go in the mall and hand this stuff out (or in the parking lot) what about putting flyers/bookmarks under windshield wiper blades on cars? I'm just worried about being too obnoxious though. But hey, ya never know when a bad idea might spark a better idea in someone else's head. I've also been thinking maybe places like Wunderland and where teenagers hang out. By the way, thanks for keeping me updated on your meetings. The next one that is not on a Sunday (I work every Sun) please let me know. But then again, I haven't called in sick in almost 2yrs, maybe <cough> <cough> ;) I might be able to make one soon.
Sparky
11-20-2002, 12:40 AM
Good to hear from you:cool:
I thought of the car thing, so I asked bout the pkg lots.
No deal. BUT, I love the guerilla thrill, so we can storm the stores and goodness, there have to be 10 Starbux in a 5 block radius of
any mall, with tables and newspapers to put flyers in.
Since Jenn is stuck at the conference;)
I can meet you Saturday if you are able. Scapesis may be
able to. You know we can use help, with our schedule and the food drives.
Afternoon is best for me. Can you meet Saturday?
We have some vids we need your input on for our food

Well, Saturday is my birthday. "MY" day so I should be able to get away with anything I want (hee hee hee) as far as I know my family doesn't haven't anything planned for me in the afternoon. My husband is asleep now so tomorrow I'll make sure, but I really don't think it will be a problem. I was soooooooo bummed not to be able to go to the Burbank Con (especially because it's during my birthday) so this will be the next best thing! :D
rorykearn
11-20-2002, 06:28 PM
stuck at the Con - hehehe
:-)
I think the guerrilla thing is good....and I agree that it would be easier to do it together. I've done it on my own....and it's a bit nerve wracking. We could all spend a few hours on a Sat...a few Sat's between now and the return of Farscape in Jan and meet somewhere, pick a car and drive around and hit places with bookmarks.
The only place I can think to add to the list of stores already mentioned is Borders. We can pick an area, like Clackamas and just drive from store to store.
I think any DVD that is sci-fi ish is a good one and then the romance ones. Plus books, which I had a lot of fun doing.
So now I guess a meet is on for Thursday, and you all have fun on Saturday. I promise I'll take lots of pictures and lots of notes and come back and tell you all stories.

Oh...man, replying to my own post ::sheepish grin::
What about sneak peeks for movies? Easier to catch people out front of those since you tend to have to line up a good deal before the start of the movie.
Mind you, there's more than the ones I've gone to. But for the local Portlanders, youbored.com is where I register for alot of sneak peeks.
They typicall hold theirs at the Lloyd Center. Occasionally inside the one at the mall, and once, all the way out here at the Tigard Cinema.
You may not get tickets for said movie, but they do list where and when they'll hold it.

Thanks for posting this!
I kept thinking I can't be the only fan in the state!

Ride past PSU on the bus...but wouldn't know where to post anything.
There's also the PCC campuses. I mainly think of the Sylvania campus.
But I haven't done anything around the colleges for a couple years...
Hobbyshops/Games Stores?
I know it's all the way across town from me, but Bridgetown Hobbies & Games over on 33rd and Sandy is where I tend to go. And they DO have bulitin boards.
Or could see about putting something on top of the case. They have a few fliers around there.
And...they carry the Farscape RPG! "See the game? Watch the show!"
Costco investments in Scotch Tape. My issues revolve around printer ink. And...I'm a pansy!

and they could go in a pile near the food area (lower Smith Hall) with alternate newspapers and advertisments.
We are having some new bkmrks made, and we have a watch farscape flyer and a primer that would be good for
converting family and friends.
So if you want, we could meet and pass the material around, or maybe PM it to you?
Movies with canned food drive is
12/14 1-3, 1/7 -7-9 at Beav. Library and
12/17 at Marshall Center, Clark College (WA) from 6-10PM.
We actually need help deciding what to show.
We can use any help you have time for. I could send the schedule of events to you, but we don't want to post it here.
(I think).

I dropped by Wa. Sq Suncoast and they were out of bkmarks and wanted more, so I gave them about 40, but I think they could go thru 100's. YIKES it was so crowded! I gave a few mini flyers w/
food drive, but they could use more.
I guess I will be chopping bkmrks tomorrow.
I can't get to Clackamus Suncoast, but they may be out too.
They are really big fans.
They have the BOS1 and 1st season at EYE level

Some of us signed up for the meet on 12/4, thru this fee service. I have a feeling we will see a lot more new people ( like this week!) due to all the publicity kicking up now
Go vote for a meeting place or suggest another one. Then they tally the votes and that's where you meet.

No cash here, but if it's local to tri-met, and not too late, I can get to quite a few places and cheer lead. (I even have a Farscape shirt, good for all Scaper occasions)
"Squashington Bear" (As my mom jokingly calls Wa. Sq.) is VERY local to me.
Southwest busses are such a bitch though. they never run late enough!
I'll try to make it to some of the Beaverton Library thing, I havent actually been into the new building since they moved out of the old grocery store. So, unless my holiday temp job finally decides to schdule me, I'll show up.
Whatcha trying to consider showing? As sad as it sounds, I'd consider some of the slight more serious episodes of Farscape. Nerve and Hidden Memory are a GREAT place to start. That's where I started, they have a great hook to 'em.
I know how easy it'd be to scare people off with some of the crazy ones.
Although, John Quixote might have enough raspberries, without being considered as much of an acid trip as Wont Get Fooled Again.
Gotta shot Green Eyed Monster. Some of the classic, run the ship ones. Through the Looking Glass and Beware of Dog come to mind. They're not the most arc hooked episodes, but they definitely showcase the show's action, and humor all at once. Oh! I Shrink Therefore I Am.
I'll stop, slap a mute on myself.

Hey, if you can't make it, send some friends!
It would be a news item if we were to raise
some significant amount of food, significant being
relative. We think we will get free publicity for
the food drive, since it is a good community bbd item
or local paper calendar thing.
ooo, if you are close to WA SQ and we get lots of
bkmrks to you, you could supply our friends at Suncoast,
regularly.
You could look at the videos on farscapefantasy.com
and nominate 5 or 6 that would be good to show
to new comers to the show before and after the ep.
Vids we are considering are:
This Woman's Work, Kiss, Superman, Bed of Roses, Smile.
It took us about 2 hours to come up with that, but we
had fun watching them. We rejected Fly, You can't get a Man with a Gun (cute), Wonderful (one of my faves),Cry, The Companion.
Here's a short list we came up with, after ruling out some of the
complex ones or 2 parters. We only have enuff time in
Beav lib to show one and some vids.
Throne for a Loss The Way We Weren't
The Flax Family Ties
Out of their Minds Meltdown
Green eyed Monster (it's unanimous)
Scratch and Sniff
Crichton Kicks
Nerve and Hidden Memory (maybe at Marshall) where we
can show two eps.
None of us saw the premier for a long time after we
started watching, so we thought we would skip it and give
a short intro to the movie about how John got there.
Sounds like Green-eyed has a lot in its favor.
We are trying to get friends/family who haven't seen it to
help us by showing as much of the above to them before
12/12.
:P

Meltdown might be more...sensual than you want for some people. I loved it, but some folks would probably be moderately outraged. I can imagine the sniffy huffs people could go into.
And Scratch'n'Sniff is just...odd. I mean it's good, but the style of storytelling used for it, might turn people off, because it can be hard to follow. Not everyone finds Crichton's train of thought the easiest set of tracks to trace.
Crichton Kicks is also another oddball. Crazy drunk, with shaggy beard, writing out math equasions on every surface avalible. And some snobby red chick. "What the hell kinda show is this?"
They're good in that they're reasonably stand alone. But not so good because they're some of the more oddball episodes of the show. I seem to recall some of the debate surrounding Scratch'n'Sniff when it debuted. It was one of those polarity episodes. You love it, or you hate it. There didn't seem to be a middle ground on it.
Picking episodes can be so hard.
I gave up on converting my parents. Mom never watches TV, and dad is such a snob about Sci-Fi. I'm tickled he watches CSI. And not all sports and news all the time.
My older brother converted me. I've gone on to trying to convert folks I know online.
Fi's famous lead in: "So? You get sci-fi channel?"
I'll go look at music videos. I never DID get a chance to look at that Higher one. I hear it's fantastic, but I've only seen it put out through RealPlayer, and I'm on a 56k so it ends up being freeze frame with good audio.
I've seen some of the ones over there, they're okay, but AnnieBW does some of the best music videos I've seen
(Spit it out, Cant Get A Man With a Gun)...
I know I have her webpage...
http://umsa7.ums.edu/~anniebw/farscape/index.html
The Farscape Muppet Show is PRICELESS.
Anyway, yeah, I'd do bookmarks at Suncoast. I actually have a holiday temp job at Babbages, which is a couple doors down from them inside the mall. I just wish they'd schdule me...Which, they should do for more of december (Holidays!). That's beside the point.
Anywho...music video checks...check.

oh, great, another wonderful bunch of music videos on annie's site to watch.. Now how will I get my paid work done?
The first video that I saw was the one with the quotes about how good FS was. It may be a contender. I will try to find it.
My favorite music is in Adiemus by birgit, and it's on farscapefantasy.com, but the music is not average. So far, 3 people who don't watch FS loved Adiemus, and it almost brought tears to a guy at work who said, "you don't realize how deep and rich it is, but this brings it home." he's the one who showed me to dani moore's site.
Thanks FG for your insight on the eps!

Nice to see new people on our board. I've signed up at Meetup.com, but noticed that we don't have a host. Anyone want to volunteer.

:( Sigh, I will not be able to attend. Being a Weds and I have nobody to watch the little ones. My husband works swing shift and my mother-in-law has church choir practice. I wasn't able to make it to Pioneer Square Fri because my husband was covering the day shift for a guy who went on vacation and everyone else was out shopping. Insane, I do online shopping for the majority of my Christmas presents because the crowds, traffic and parking just get to me too much. Plus I'm a major browser and it's easier to browse online than in the actual mall. So, enough of my rambling, how did Pioneer Square go?
Edited to add: By the way, I'm getting DSL this Weds, I'll be able to watch those fan vids in lighting speed, I'm so excited!

The Pioneer Square itself was a bit tough. Surly crowd, over all. But we walked over to Pioneer Place mall and went into a few stores, Electronics Boutique, Sam Goody, Waldenbooks, and The Game Trader. We ended up leaving a ton of bookmarks with the store managers and spent some quality time at Waldenbooks. :-)
Rhonda, I wish I could help with babysitter woes, as I have a daughter who babysits. But don't remember where you live.
Everyone, still haven't confirmed the Beav. Library. So I'll be going in there on Monday morning and then calling WW to place the ad.
I just checked the meetup site and we still don't have a Host. I wish the time was a 7 PM too, but I can hack 8 PM, just be a late night for me....but then I don't have a job, so what am I complaining about. :-)
See you all Wednesday.

Soooooooo,
How about we (who talk on this forum) meet at 7 or 7:30 PM and when the other 3 or 4 from Meet up show up, we can stay another hour to get to know them. .. we can get some organizing and decisions made on current schedule before 8 in place of the weekend meeting... I think we can and should change the day to to Saturday, but it is too late now -- we have to meet the others first.
What do you think of that?
The important thing is to meet the others, and if we meet a little early to solidify some of our plans, then we can focus on meeting new people at 8-9. I am always uncomfortable with strangers, so I can't see a long party thing going on.
Oh, OK, I will be the host.

Rory, you are so sweet. I live in Canby, but my biggest problem with babysitting is my oldest son, who's 8, has mild autism. His routine is almost unbreakable without major upset, especially on a school night. And unless you get to know him, he'll drive you up the frelling wall. The lady who watches him after school 2 days a week took about 6 months to finally understand him. My other son, who is 6, fortunately does not have autism, is very happy go lucky and just a sweetie. But considering my 8 yr old, I just won't put your daughter through that! :)
This week I'll be getting those info pamphlets and cool blue bookmarks done. If I can't make it to the first library date I'll mail them to Sparky, and maybe some blue bookmarks depending on how many I can manage to have made. I'm aiming for "lots and lots".:D

Just finished a final!!!!
two more to go!! on Wed.
When are we meeting this week to go over last minute things for next tues?
I will be calling Columbian today to find out about advertising. We need press release? My brother watched green eyed monster and out of their minds. He liked both of them but had trouble with out of their minds because he doesn't know the characters and then they switched! It was a little confusing so he didn't get a lot of the inside jokes that we get because we know the show. I think the flax, or throne for a loss might be better. the flax could be a possibility (focuses on John and Aeryn relationship).
(throne for a loss focuses it's humor on fighting, and violence). Good episode though.
Also what about farscape undressed (hard to get on cd?) Ben and Claudia are so cute together.

scape sister, for character info for Tues I made 50 copies of the primers that Sparky gave me last month. Whatever is left can go to the next function or to people we're showing FS to. I'm starting to think 50 isn't near enough. I think I'll make more just to be on the safe side.
The episode I'd like to show is Nerve. (is that the "my side your side" with Stark or is that hidden memory? I can never keep the show's names straight) But I fear it might be too dark. Whatever you guys pick is fine with me. I trust the judgement of this group!:)
Edited to add: I have season 1 on DVD up to A Bugs Life (volume 9) I also have Aeryn, Zhaan and Chiana action figures mint in the box. Would you like to give one away at each event? I just started buying the figures so it's no problem to start over.

I hope people show up. We didn't do much advertising done other
that what Scape_Sister and her amazing flyers at the college
will bring. We have the other one 1/7 at Beaverton Lib, so we can use the primers there. We will probably meet before that. We can only show ONE there.
Wilsonville Lib has a room and large TV for free that holds about 15 people. It is a place to continue to hold more if we want in JAN and FEB.
The ratings have to be constant, not one good night followed by
declining ratings, so more would be better. Food drives are a all time high this month, so people may be tired of giving, but ready in
Feb or March.
I will let you and FG and Angrahard know how it went by posting an update here.

 We did it! I think we learned quite a bit from this, but a big thanks to Scape_sister, rorykern, michael, Sparky and Rhonda for
our first ever food drive. Every can or package of noodles helps someone who had less than they need. Yay US!
rorykern has some good leads now for better attendance, and we may need some help spreading the posters around.
Anyone interested?

Hey Oregon Fans! I just saw this again, and I thought why not, we all travel around and some of us go to school even?
I don't know why it didn't sink in last Oct. when I saw it first, or why this seems like a good way to reach a lota folk all of a sudden to me. Could even advert. the food drive.

This idea rocks! Hubby and I are going to the movies this week and we are smuggling in tape and flyers!!

So we make our leetle flyers (posters for S_S) and take them shopping and to movies with us. I would really recommend just the ones that say 12/24 and 1/10, or the business cards would be great!
CHECK THESE OUT!! WISH WE COULD AFFORD THESE, BUT THEY ARE SO COLORFUL
http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5385
But we could print them on paper instead of card stock, and color copy,, anyway, we could at least do some flyers with them and tape them up in bathrooms at malls (ick) or movies, or Schools.
You know they aren't checked or cleaned more'n once/day, so they would last. THis is a good idea for when school starts and the season is going on .

I don't think I can go in Jan, and it has me as the Host, even tho I didn't sign up for it THIS TIME.
So since none of the people who went last time really liked B. Pub, we should vote on a nice quiet place like Borders and
CHANGE THE LOCATION by voting on another place. I think we should or some of us should change the blurb under our names at the Meet up site.
Time for bed.

Sorry I havent been on the map. Between this, and that, and the other, I've been brainfogged. (Happy Holidays).

Thanks rorykern for writing it up and sending to the web master. I want to copy it to the campaign commando reports too. Many posters mentioned they never go to the front. It is so cool to have our exploits up to inspire others. :D
How about meeting SATURDAY Morning? Not too early (10 or 10:30?) , but that leaves all afternoon for family stuff. We could meet at Powell's downtown or ? Cascade?
I was mistaken about Sunday being better for us. Saturday is best for 2 of us.

My husband heard a Farscape commercial on 1080am KOTK a little bit ago. He told me it said something about Star Trek being saved 30yrs ago but couldn't tell me much more because he was in heavy traffic. I can't seem to find any radio ads though with that type of dialogue here though. Did I miss something at our last meeting????:D

It's 1080 KOTK, my husband listens to them a lot. BTW, I called Oregon Live.com and it looks like running an ad on there can run as low as 250.00 a month. The guy is supposed to e-mail me with all the info and we're going to talk on Monday. Don't worry, I don't expect any outside funds. I didn't run this by anyone's approval, just a little something I wanted to check out. Now that I've almost recovered from Christmas, I have some extra funds. yay!!!:D

Wait a minute, Rhonda, the FWA IS giving away money. Portland is in the top 26 markets, and has a huge sci fi following
(note Orycon).Send them mail, it doesn't hurt to ask!
In fact, I rather think they might help out with radio ads AND newspaper ads. Give them a call.
Rhonda

Sparky
01-18-2003, 12:14 AM
You never know, I would think they might.
I just read this over at
http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=6603
According to Time Warner San Diego, Farscape’s ratings were at a 3.3, while Stargate SG-1 received a 2.8.
San Diegeo seems to be a big science fiction area! Time Warner posts the top 10 shows for all of their cable channels I think. What this means is that Farscape outperformed SG1 in San Diego, and that it got a lot higher than the national average in San Diego.
And of course its good news, it's just good news local to San Diego.
Wahington, D.C. is also a market that does a lot higher than the nationals for science fiction. I think local numbers would be more accurate than the national ones. You have a number closer to what is actually out there. I could be wrong, and I probably am, but it just makes more sense to me that 5000 people nationwide dictate what 10 million people watch.
So I wonder what about pdx? It is a big sci fiction area, with dedicated cons for sci fi and so is Seattle. Maybe we are more important if you look at the Warner stats? Maybe PDX ratings went above 2.0 for FS.Next time we do more posters, we should PUT BOTH TImes on it, but encourage earlier showing somehow. Just a thought, PDX ratings might be important, so who knows how we could get them?
Rhonda
01-18-2003, 03:07 AM
Even though PDX is only 26 (I think) in the Nielsen market, I think we have great potential in bringing up ratings. Not to pigeon hole people but we have an enormous amount of techies. The NW has Microsoft and Intel and tons and tons of other computer and robotics junkies. On the flipside San Diego is home to tons of Navy people who would tune into Farscape because of the weapons, great tactical maneuvers or sheer luck from the lack there-of, intensely witty humor, not always winning "just because you're the good guy" and awesome fight scenes so I can completely see why San Diego has a high rating for Farscape. (They might also have a big techie community but that I'm not all that sure of.) I think most people in the military would love Farscape. Honestly, Farscape can reach soooo many people on so many levels that I'm going to go all out now and do as much as I can in hopes of reaching just one....frelling....holy grail to Sci Fi....Nielsen box!!!!
Sparky
01-19-2003, 12:23 AM
The high tech people have Babylon 5, Xena, and Star Wars action figures all over the cubicles. This area is teeming with people who will love FS, if they can be made aware of it in time!
Rhonda
01-19-2003, 12:41 AM
At least we're doing more on trying to achieve that than Sci Fi ever did! :aok:

Me too! I absolutely loved it! My husband actually went to my Mom's on Friday and hung out (well, fixed a bunch of their computer stuff too) and waited until it was done taping just so we could have our Farscape Friday. The crazy thing was, after he got home we kept looking at the clock like we used to. Crazy.
I was at the grocery store tonight and I was walking around I noticed an ad for car insurance on the inside end of the cart. Hmmmmm, I thought. Everyone buys groceries!!! If I have time tonight I'm going to see if I can find some web sites on this and what the $$ might be.
Rhonda
01-19-2003, 10:47 PM
O.k, went to adcart.com and sent them an e-mail. Seems like it might be massively expensive, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Heck, the San Antonio sign is only $150 a day!!!! I'd love to find something that cheap with that much exposure around here! Anyway, I'll let you know what adcart.com says if they respond.:D

When is our next meeting. I think we should meet and decide tactics to advertise Farscape Fridays! Posters, bookmarks, (I talked to suncoast at Vancouver Mall, I think they'll take bookmarks, the guy loved the show.)
Kansas and Terra Firma were awesome!

Hey this is great, congrats to you and better for us!
I wonder how much those big long banners cost? A friend of mine stood on an overpass with a No on 28 sign. One person stopped to chat with him. We could freeze our butts off up there with some clever FS sign - would take 2 people.
Clear Channel has an empty billboard on Hwy 217, which about
100,000 cars go by. I bet that's expensive, cos you have to get an artist to make the sign, but what exposure that would be!
(going S. before Tigard exit).
I wonder if we all wrote to that tv columnist Peter Ames Carlin
he would pay attention. I don't even get an acknowledgement from him. He wrote about the LA TV show convention everyday, AFTER cable days, only about the lame network offerings. Nothing about cable. The Snoregonian needs a new columnist BADLY.
They have printed some "special to the Oregonian" columns by a new guy. Not enuf in my opinion. What a cushy job for Peter.
WWeek, I don't think they write anything about tv, and maybe the readers are not viewers. Maybe that's why Beav went badly.
I am in TN now, back next week. checking here when I get a chance. Can't get my local mail, tho, so excuse if I don't reply.

Anyone call Fox ptld. about the convention bit?

I talked to rorykearn this week and I can meet on Sunday. Or if anyone can make it during the week, I can meet Thursday or Friday. Farscape shows at 5pm and 9pm at my house. I can also program my satellite dish to change channels at a certain time. So even if I'm not home I just leave my TV on (like on cartoon network) then it changes to Farscape at the right time and changes back after its over. Therefore, Stargate, Dream Team, Tracker, or whatever else they show do not get my ratings.
Rorykearn said that if we met early Sunday (before noon, I think), it will be possible for her.
We need to meet and discuss some plans I know are twirling around in all of our heads.
The Farscape ad/commercial will be showing in Portland! Check out this thread:

How about a fast food place in canby or in Wilsonville for
our usual, Starbucks in the T=way plaza.. oh, excuse me,
"Town Center". Do you know where that is? It is before Fry's. off of Wv Rd East of I-5 exit.
If you want to meet in Canby, you have to name the spot and give directions.
Has anyone made bumberstickers? Can you get special printer paper for that?
3:30 or 4 would be best for me. :-)
Haven't heard anything from SS yet.
Rhonda
01-29-2003, 06:42 PM
I've been to that Starbucks quite a few times. I'm a coffee fiend, I have a gift for finding them. ;)
Time wise I guess I should have been more specific, I would have to leave by 3:15pm in order to get back in time for the kids. But anytime before that works. Yikes, I don't mean to be so difficult. I was thinking during day times. I'm sorry. If you guys meet without me I won't be offended. I understand completely. But thank you for thinking of me! :)
I haven't made any bumperstickers yet. Oregonlive.com sent me their proposal. Total monthly impressions would be 60,000 and it would be $250 a month. At the end of the proposal it stated "Campaign is for 3 months" so I don't know if they'll let me do just one month. I think I'll be focusing on getting an ad in the Oregonian. I've called them a couple times and they're nice but I haven't gotten very far. The 2 people that apparently can help me haven't been there when I call. I remember seeing something on ads and prices on their website so I think I'll go back to that and see what I can figure out. Now that we only have 8 eps left I feel that major public advertising is essential. Adcart.com pretty much have ignored me so o'well, their loss. I wish we could get a billboard like the one in San Antonio, any ideas on that?

Friday is good before 3pm because I need to be home for my daughter. My boy will either have to come with me (fast food w/play area would be good) or maybe I could arrange some quick babysitting. Sunday will definitely work for me.
I wish we could have a Farscape party at my house!
I have surround sound now, and Farscape in 5.1 sounds great!
I'll have to think of something.
Items I want to address:
Long banner w/Farscape message, standing on an overpass? (mentioned earlier)
Farscape Billboard? $$$$
Schmoozing Sci-Fi together (pay rorykearn for use of her phone, fax, and computer?)
Staging a portland/vancouver/beaverton (and surrounding suburbs) rally?
Mailbox flyers
Valentines day postcards, bumperstickers, etc.
Losing my mind....definitely!

YIKES, I meant I could meet Friday, early if I rearrange
things a little. Actually I was heading over to my
new convert's house in a.m. (big screen tv) to
watch a little FS in A.M. You all could join us.
We will have coffee and Cinnamon rolls. But then we
wouldn't get anything done, hmmmm?
I can meet at the Starbucks Friday, say 9, 10, or ?? and
move my movie time with my new convert to afternoon.
Unless you WANT to come watch a few eps and then
Coffee and Cinnamon rolls, Hmmmm? We could still do some strategizin at her house.
She won't mind, (she already bought DVD's because she couldn't wait for more), but she has 3 cats, 1 dog, 1 bird, so if
you are allergic to anything, we can meet at Starbux.
Let me know, I can send directions in email to you.

I heard how they are doing it by going to the website (Ticketmaster) then somewhere on the bottom you enter a code. I couldn't hear what the dj said because I was in the Taco Bell line making an order) but I'm sure you can find out somehow!)
Another thing, did you guys check out the thread I posted earlier? Not the voting one. The one that listed times when the commercial is supposed to air here in Portland?
I've been watching CNN and Fx but I forgot (silly me) that my satellite dish gets its signal from east coast (Farscape shows at 5pm at my house instead of 8pm on regular cable, three hrs difference). So I messed up. I was going to tape it. Maybe we can try tomorrow.

Pacific NW Fans met today at Powells downtown.
We talked about billbds. Spark will look into renting one from Clear Channel and making a banner to cover it. We talked about holding a banner over hiway too. Spark will check on cost of banners of diff sizes.
Maybe we could write to the editor or write an In My Opinion column for all the papers where we live. We also thought of passing ourselves off as TV Columnists and writing reviews.
I read in a zine that viewers don't care about columnist's or critic's reviews. So by writing as viewers, we may hold more influence when writing a Point Of View column.
We decided to get bumperstickers for our cars and friend's cars.
roryk is checking on printing them at kinkos. My car is
parked in a 3000 space parking lot. I can't afford carscapes, but I can afford bumper stickers. We can put them on phone poles too.
There's a Creation convention for STrk/StrWrs and Buffy/Angel

As for the homework - I didn't respond because though I have been writing letters and sending postcards and such, I haven't been doing it on a regular basis, so I wasn't sure if responding "yes" would have been entirely accurate, although "no" isn't accurate, either ...

Lets do it! I'm game. Lets get those Seattle people rounded up (Nfearme etc.)
Great ideas-- feel free to delegate something to me. Sorry I couldn't make it.

Gosh, Scape_Sis, your use of the smilies always gets me smiling, and I can remember them all day when I feel low. I was kind of down after the last ratings came out.
Want something to do? Can you check out Bill Bd prices for
Clear Channel Bill Boards? They keep having a blank one on
217S (by auto body shop). I will check on the sign to cover it, if you can get the price to rent the board. for a month. No way could we afford it of course, but FWA might help.
No word from Creation on space. Maybe I should send msg to FWA or waltersgirl.
Someone posted fan-run cons, but I didn't see any near us.
Did you see Lady Crais' post?

Hi all,
Surprise ... last Monday came down with the flu/cold thing and was sick in bed most of last week. I'll be looking into bumper stickers this week.
I verified that the Sacramento Save Farscape people had flyers, bookmarks, an email list for people to sign up and were basically just there to answer questions, they also had a tv/vcr hooked up with eps of Farscape running, but hardly any sound, all weekend. They said it attracted a lot of people to their table.
Any news on the Seattle con? Portland? I was going to go to Seattle with my girls and see the con, but now we've discovered a clash with schedules and the girls can't go. Because they have a big thing on Sunday, I might not go to Seattle. However, if we have a table up there....I'll probably make it up there to help. Would love to buy tickets to the Saturday evening show at 8:30PM and see James Marsters the next day. Is anyone from our group staying at a hotel? Driving up on Saturday or Sunday?
Please let me know.

I can't go to the Seattle con, schedule clash big time. I will, without a doubt, be at the PDX con. My husband will be with me (he's a huge fan Farscape, and has been very supportive) so I might end up springing for gold tickets. Not sure yet. I've never been to a con and I don't know what to expect.

Scape Sis and I are going to meet. We have to decide what to stock the table with, need your help.
S_S thought of a raffle: we have someone go thru the crowd w/
bkmks and raffle tickets - say 1st 10 people to table at XXAM or PM win a prize (pencil, bumpersticker, button, drd) Then we start the ad on a laptop when they are all there.
I think its a great idea, sending people out to handout things to get them to the table. S_S has the travl. displ reserver'd.
We can get hundreds of pencils for $15. with up to 30 letters on them.
Does anyone have a button maker?
What flyers do we want there? Now we can advert. the reruns.
What if the reruns grow the audience over next 6 months? and the ratings grow. 'Course it is on at weird time, but not an impossible time.
I like the flyer Jenn had for the food drives.
Other goodies at the table: Maybe magnets w/ mycattoldme's biz card or movie screen ads, variety of bkmks, we can display our action figures. I have the soundtrack, goody bags with cool pics,
What else?
Meet sometime in afternoon, PM me for the location.
Peace to all beings
WHAT DO WE SAY ON FLYERS? SAVE FS . .. WATCH FS., WHICH BOOKMARKS? WHAT IS OUR BUDGET?

Kerlin has some interesting cards to hand out,
these look different w/o the FS font, but I didn't download it.
This is a cheap way to get lots of handouts (and they
make perfectly good bookmks  )

How would Creation feel about a raffle? Is it even do-able? I don't think I could "go out into the crowd", I'm too much of a wuss honestly. I do wayyyy better when I'm approached first.
If I can get Virginia Hey's permission (just seems like the right thing to do) I would love to take up a bit of space with a few of her products (not for sale, just for sample) and some business cards with her e-mail addy so people can go there and buy some of her enlighten line. It really is fantastic. And our table area will smell absolutely awesome. ;)
I had a freebie idea, how about some of the trading cards? I can get them by the tons dirt cheap on e-bay. They have some awesome screen shots. Free pens, pencils and etc would be fantastic! If anyone knows of a promotional company that doesn't require you to buy huge quantities please let me know. Also, what about candy? People loooove free candy. I would like to get some sort with "Farscape" on it, but I think a "Starburst" candy dish could help too! :) My husband says we can use his lap top at the con as long as someone is always there to make sure it doesn't get snurched. I really want to work on an easel display as well. I think it could help add to attracting people to the table.
I have a million ideas running around in my head, as I sort them out I'll post them here. I'm sorry I can't make the meeting tomorrow (husbands birthday) but let me know when the next one is.
Also, I'm working on getting some ads out at the very least on the day of the last ep. I'll let you know when and where as soon as I know. The Oregonian is more expensive and I would only be able to run the ad twice at maximum, but it reaches more eyeballs. Other papers are less expensive but don't reach as many people. I'm still trying to figure that one out. Any opinions would be appreciated!;)
edited to add: sorry if this post seemed rambling, I'm quite tired and have had a few. If any of it doesn't make sense just let me know!

Great ideas, Rhonda!
orentaltrading.com had 100 pencils for 3.95.
and much more trinket stuff.
Trading cards are great!! What are they?
Sis talkd to creation and was told to fax our intentions in writing to see if we get a free/discounted table.
If no discount, maybe we can sell V H products...? but I prefer to just have as samples w/ where to get them.
The display has the stuffed Rygle., and I have cookbook.
May have a lead on an easel, too.
Also trying to figure where all those OR fans are.
PDX FS got a 3.0 DMA!!!!!! My guess is they DON"T KNOW IT"S CANCELLED OR THEY DON"T KNOW ABOUT US.
We want them at the con!!!!!!
So how DO we reach them? I keep running into them at work. Hi Tech doesn't have any way to freeflow personal communication at the shop. But we must have somethings in common about where we go and what we read. Actually the people I know are more likely to read PC Magaizine and the Oregonian Biz section than anything.

Trading cards like this are what I have in mind.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3207272119&category=219
72 cards for under $10 (incl shipping) seems like a good deal for a freebie hand out. What do you all think? If you hate it, tell me!!!!!!:P
It amazes me our DMA is 3.0 That's incredible. Maybe a letter to Creation with those numbers will help persuade them to advertise the con? They probably will anyway. I can't imagine why they wouldn't.
I think when all is said and done we're going to have an awesome table. When I start buying things in the next few days I will let you know what I get that way we don't have an over abundance of one thing.:)

Possible idea...http://www.pensrus.com/chatham.htm at least they have a smaller min requirement. A special from them, http://www.pensrus.com/vermont.htm
Best price on pencils I've been able to find....http://products-items.com/catalog/html/pen-1-2.html
I would like to get some promtional items that have the Farscape logo to give away but it's a lot more expensive than I imagined. No wonder marketing is such big buisness, it's spendy!:P I'll keep looking though, there's got to be someone out there with an awesome deal going on!!!!!

Rhonda,
You are a busy little bee! I think those glow sticks are so cool! They would definitely grab attention, especially if we were wearing some of them. Kids would freak!!!
The pencils/pens: tired brain couldn't do the math but I definitely want some.
You should let the NYC fans know about the human billboards!:P
Guess this post means I have my computer back!!! Yay!!

We looked for cheaper pencils.
rorykern had the idea of advertising to about 10K people who would be at her daughter's ballet show for about $250.
We talkd abt advertising in the Oregonian. Didn't think it was
value for the buck, but it was just the 2 of us. We thought the folks reading dear abby would not tune in to FS.
Talkd about the fax to Creation.
Somethin like this could be in the fax:
We want to have a Save Farscape table to introduce people to the show and to let them know it is cancelled, but will be in reruns until September. Our goal it to grow the audience and give bookmarks and flyers out to remind people of when they can watch Farscape and why they should. Portland DMA (Local Nielsen Ratings) are the highest in the country. We believe we can gain more viewers through your convention and gain the audience it deserves by recruiting new fans.
We are volunteers for the Save Farscape campaign, run solely by people donating their time and energy for a show we love.
Or something like that.
Scape Sis, can you do the fax?
Rhonda

But Dear Abby is on the same page as the entertainment news. I read Dear Abby (guilty pleasure, bad me) and I watch Farscape so it shows that Farscape is a show in a very strange class, you never know who's hooked. It's hard to generalize this fanbase. I plan on placing the ad just to make myself feel better. Don't worry, I've planned from the beginning on going it alone. No handouts are being asked for!!!:D
O.k, I'll work on getting those glow bracelets (I'm thinking around 200) and as many trading cards as possible. I figure I can get just tons of stuff for $50 or less. That rocks. There's other neat stuff out there that if it's under $30 each then I'll nab it. All we have to do is bait these people, Farscape will reel them in. I'm going to look into getting some certificates (just like 10 or 20 nothing big) from Blockbuster for a free rental of Farscape. If I can't get them to specify that it's for a rental of Farscape only though then it'll be no deal. But worth looking into. I'd love to be able to give them out to the really enthusiastic people who seem interested.
For pens, pencils and whatever I think a simple "Watch Farscape" will work great. I don't think they'll be much more room for more than that. I'm going to do more research into this though and start making phone calls (I've just been doing online research so far) and find someone who can do this for under a gabillizillon dollars.
Sparky, I think the fax is great. To the point and effective.
O.k, I work the next couple days and Wed is my 9th wedding anniversary so even if I don't yak much don't worry, I'm listening!

We saw some pencils for 12 Cents each. You could have
words on 4 sides if you wanted, like 4 lines,
up to 30 chars.
We thought
Watch Farscape
(c in a circle for copyright) Jim Henson Co.
Who knew TV was THIS GOOD?
I was also thinking on the laptop besides
the videos at regular times, we could run the
fan made commercials and show off the campaign.
Scape Sis and I can go thru crowds giving bookmarks and
pointing to our table.
I thought it would be nice if Creation would let Ginny and Wayne sign autographs at OUR table. hee hee.
Or at least come over to it. I hear they are very strict about where the talent goes and when.
BTW, you can become a member of bgb (ginny's) club at virginiahey.com.
She talks about meeting her fans in person. If we all join, then we make it easier for her to meet up w/ some. :rollin:
And we do want to get our goody bag to them to further entice them to the table.
We need to decide what to put on the bags.
I like these pics by deanna T (upside down writing and
green zig zaggy down the page) and mycattoldme's

Sparky, I'm gathering up so many ding dang cards that you can have your pick, there will plenty!:D We're still bringing our action figures right? Are we still lacking a Scorpy? Hey I got a Scorpie. I haven't taken all mine out of the packs. Do you think I should, or are they ok in the blister pack for table.
That way we are advertising for the vendors who have them -- a good thing. Scorpie, Zhann and Johnny are out, I couldn't resist.
Next Sat. it is. Maybe G can come in from Troutdale with that much notice. Maybe we can "pick up" some help from the meet up, although I can never go to it without missing my planning commish meeting, which is not desireable.
I think our table will be full, but if we can make up goodie bags ahead of time, not too bad. I hope some more OR scapers come out to help!
I read that Virginia Hey had time at a con to sit and talk with people for a half hour. Wouldn't that be cool.
Hey, I think I can make an extra large poster to put up high on a wall if they let us, or a big sign or something besides the banner on the front. There's a picture of a table in the Traveling Display thread stuck to campaign strat thread if you want to see one.

Thanks for getting back to be about the DRD. It is really shaped more like the yellow ones on the show. 1812 is a little bit more oblong? We'll keep him yellow. He needs a littl
