What IS this strange place?

Think there are any List moms or Dads here who would want to join the "round Table". Next meeting is Monday at 8pm

See ya,

Hi guys!

Nice to see there are more of us than I thought! I also know several more not so active scapers who we could call on for help if need be.

Please also see my post re Philcon in the Rallys and Cons board.

Bumping this up and extending an invitation.

If you guys haven't managed to formalize a group to do events with, you're more than welcome to come on down a ways south and participate with the DC Area group (see our webpage, link in my sig, to join one of our message groups, preferably our discussion group). We already have a few people from PA and would love to work with people up there to get a few events going up in PA (and participate...we'll happily travel for Farscape).

If an organized group has started up, please let us know as we'd love to share info with you.

I really have no idea if there is an organized "PA scapers" group-thing, but even if we do I'm more than willing to help the DC scapers ;-)

I was born & raised in Philly. Lived there for 31 years before I moved to sunny southern California :) I visit family and friends there often.

I'm originally from Downingtown -- Chester County. I was in the area over Christmas. Passed out a few Farscape bookmarks at the Exton Mall, but they all have the WestPAScapers (ie Pittsburgh) yahoo group addy on them. If anybody drops by I'll send them y'all's way :)

Sorry I haven't posted here before, I usually stay in the campaign strategizing area.

It's nice to see there are a few more of us than I originally thought.

Hello All,

I just moved back to Philly a month ago. I am living in NE Philly and work downtown. I moved away 5 years ago and missed it very much.

Anyhow, I am embarassed to be only posting now. I was back and forth for the past 5 months until I got into my place a month ago so I've been delayed in getting more involved in saving Farscape.

I am very interested in the concept of all of us in starting Farscape fan groups in our local cities. I feel we all need to look to each other and each others rescourses to grow in numbers.

I think, at this point, Farscape needs more media exposure. I think something like rallys and mini public conventions would be a good way to do this. However we need to start small and see how many people we have here in the Philly and S. Jersey area.

Maybe if we can get a local bar to run a Farscape night some off or something... again, ideas we should all get together to consider. I would be happy to organize such things, but as an event coordinator at the convention center, I have whacky hours.

Anyway, it's great to find Farscape fans here in Philly. I look forward to meeting all of you and bringing Farscape to this city. I have a vision that every person here in the Philadelphia area will know Farscape, and find more who will want to help us find a place for Farscape to live on.

Feel free to contact me all of you. What do you all think?

I'd say so. By the way, i noticed your quote on another post you wrote in another thread... that's an awsome line.

I'd like to bring the S. Jersey and Philly community together and do something big. Know a lot of S. Jersey people who follow Farscape? My family is over near LBI so I can probably find people other there to.

Talk to you all soon,

Welcome to the area operaghost. I just signed on to the site last night and I'm looking to see how many people out there are interested in forming a group/getting together to come upwith some ideas on how to broaden the Jersey/Philly Farscape fan base. The more people... the sooner we can see new Farscape.

I'm hoping the people who have posted, keep posting here and that way we can all start making plans.

Nice to see you,

South Philly Scaper Here.

Glad to know there are Scapers in the area, I was beginning to lose hope until I actually started looking a little closer into the forum. None of my friends ever got into the show because of the time slot.

It's Friday, and I am freaked out. A friend said to get over it. But I don't want to. Farscape was the the only thing I really looked forward to watching.

I'll be back to post again when I'm a little less unsettled.

Hey there! I've got some friends who are Shippensburg alums. And I know where Lewistown is; it's the last town before State College on the bus route from the Philly area. I went to Penn State, so I am intimately familiar with said bus route :)

Yeah Meowdragon, Friday was a very depressing day. Got home from work and had... well, nothing to look forward to.

I hope savefarscape.com still posts Sci-Fi's ratings... I'm very interested to see what they are pulling in now. I, for one, am not one of the numbers in thier current ratings.

It's time slot (which ever season's time slot we're talking about as Sci-Fi could never settle on one) was so bad because most people who would be interested in the show were out doing something. I rarely was in to watch Farscape, but that's what timer VCRs are for.

I myself am interested in see what we in philly and S. Jersy can do to raise awareness around here. But i don't know... Did you all get that thank you letter from Anthony? From one of his lines "I'm positive that we would all come back to do other Farscape projects in the
future, and even though we have our fingers crossed it looks very unlikely
from where I'm sitting at the moment. " There may not be much we can do...

Anyhow, I'd still like to know who's out in the Philly area. Nice to meet all of you,

Varik

Well, I can't believe I forgot to post here. I work in South Philly and live about 20 miles SW of Philly near the DE line. Although, the last time I was on this thread, there were only 4 or 5 post-ers. I was beginning to think Philly was a bit of a Farscape wasteland. I know I haven't had much luck making converts at work.

Howdy All,
I'm from the suburban Philly area. Good to see some Farscape fans in the area. The outcry over the cancellation finally got me intrigued enough to finally check out the series. And damn if I'm not kicking myself for missing out for the last four years. I just finished the 1st season DVD boxset this weekend. I'm completely hooked. Of course, I can't afford the 2nd season DVDs right now, so I have to grit my teeth for a couple of weeks until Sci-Fi's repeats get up to the 2nd season. Grrr...Arrrgh...bloody cliffhangers...but I'm guess I'm going to have to get use to the concept by the time Season 4 repeats roll around come July.

Would love to hear from other philly scapers. We should try to organize some sort of get together. Kinda like what they do at that that meetups site. Who's with me.

An Aside: I was watching the commentary for 1.22 Family Ties this morning and I think I may have slipped from loving the series to utter devotion. At the end of the commetary at the end of the credits Ben B. says 'Here it comes..' then he and Claudia Black both do their best impression of the choral hit at the end of the theme music. It was such a great silly moment :)

Hello everyone who's posted lately, I've been away after just signing up on here myself.

I've been following the show since day 1... Honestly thought it would suck. I thought it would be just another hack show on TV... as we all know, I was in for a big surpirse.

Anyway, I'm up in NE Philly... I would love to have a get together for all Philly Farscape people as well. What does everyone else think?

Also, I'm an event coordinator at the PA Convention Center. In the end of May, a show called "Wizard World" is in the building. Wizard World is your typical Sci-Fi/Comic Book type convention, but I over heard at work someone saying something about Farscape being involved in some way. Now it might be only a booth selling Criton and Aeryn figures, or there could be more. I'm pretty sure there won't be any cast members there however.... At this point.

Anyway.. I'm doing the night coverage for the show. As i find out more, I'll be sure to post on here so you all know what's there.

Maybe, if we all get toghether, maybe we can come up with a way to get a person from Farscape to come to the show. I'm sure if we can come up with enough support, someone might stop by one day.

Let me know what you all think,

John

Hey Guys

I so though I was alone in south jersey here until i found a tread called jersey scapers, but thoses guys are more up north.

The Philadelphia market is a huge area that is yet been untapped by our efforts. We need to set a goal and shoot for it.

I live in camden county and attend Rowan u. I am already making (attempint to make plans to advertise there) There are 12,000+++ farscape fans there waiting to be converted.

I will try to cut and past some other relavant info and conversations i have had with people in this area.

I was begining to think I was the only one in the Philadelphia area.

When we were running ads for the last farscape ep, I questioned as to why there was no s.jersey / phila time slot purchased. No one answered, so I just figured that I was alone in this area.

Actually, I kinda am
You guys seem to be farther north.

any way... Lets pull some reasources. The philadelphia area is a huge market, yet untapped by us scapers.

hey everyone!

First, thanks muchly for posting here and for signing up with the New Jersey Scapers :-) (What have I started? lol!) And I'll post more as soon as I get my addy straightened out with them. (My IP had problems and is frelling up posts from email, which make me have to go to the site and post from there etc.)

Kre - cool that you'll be at JerseyDevilCon. Right now, I *still* don't even have a minimum wage job, so it looks like it'll be flyers for now at the Starfleet table. (BTW, if it wasn't a federal crime, I'd kick the arse of the personnel person who *swore* I'd have work at the beginning of April.)

FarscapeFiend - please, feel free to set up the website! I've only done one site on geocities and it was pain in the eema.

Sococlear - I'm new to the SaveFarscape board and didn't even know about the ads. It's one of the reasons I wanted to organize the Jersey Scapers - so we could run our own. About Rowan Univ. - I was thinking about starting to paste flyers all over college campuses. We can start with yours and Rutgers. (I know a few folks on the NJScaper's board go there.) As for the Philly group - from what I've heard, they're not organized yet. If they ever do, I've got a friend who's be interested.

Hey everybody!!!

Well, I'm a born and raised PA girl, though I think my heart is in the southern states. I live in a little nothing of a town called Parkesburg, it's kinda between Lancaster and Philly, though not really. LOL. Near Coatesville and Downingtown. And Oxford. I go to Immaculata University in Malvern.

I wasn't sure there were that many PA Scapers! Great to see my home state taking up the torch.

I started watching Farscape at the beginning of the fourth season...sucks for me. But, I just ordered my box set of season 1, and have been keeping up (for the most part) online.

Is or was there a Philly con? And if so, when/was it? I'd love to be involved in whatever ya'll are up to, so just give a yell and let me know what to do!

Great to meet you...or as those Coatesville folks say, "yous." Makes an english major cringe!!! LOL

Hey all...

Sorry, I keep forgetting this is here. :) But glad to see there are a few more of us PA/NJ scapers out there.

As one of the "organizers" (for lack of a better word) of the "cancellation commercials" shown during 4.22, I just want to address why Philly wasnt a part of it.
Although anyone who watches via DISH network saw the commercial cause that ad was national.
Anyway, Philly (to my surprise) has pretty high Farscape ratings. For the first 5 weeks of the fourth season they were 3.1, 1.8, 1.8, 1.9, and 2.0. But Philly is also the fourth largest Nielsen market. So BIG market combined with BIG ratings equals WAY TOO expensive to afford a commercial. This is also why we didnt attempt NY, although their ratings were much lower (I think they got a 0.4).

Anyway...I notice some talk about flyers and the like. For the commercial I purchased an 800#(actually the FWA is helping as well), which is still up and running by the way and Akimbo purchased a PO BOX. If anyone who is printing out flyers and the like would like the number to put on them, just PM me and let me know and I will give you the number. (It gives the website url as well as the PO BOX for people to write in for info if they dont have a computer to get online.) Just dont be littering with the flyers!!! :)

Forgive me if anything I say here is redundant... I'm not from Philly and I haven't read every post in this thread.

I wanted to inquire if any of you will be at Wizard Con East from May 30- June 1st. I've been in the Kansas forum and I've posted information about my t-shirt business. I have some Farscape copyright safe items that I've been selling for quite a while. I'm donating money to the fund with every Scape sale.

How this relates to wizard con is that I'll be advertising my site on the back cover of a new comic called Bubba The Redneck Werewolf by Graphic Illusions Studios and Brass Ball Comics. Since I won't be at the con personally the studio will also be handing out flyers for my site. Flyers which will include a "Save Scape" section.

So if there is no real presence of Scapers there, at least I'll have some word out there.

Check out the comic here:

I'm doing the night coverage of the Wizard World event as I am an event coordinator at the PA Convention Center. I'm looking into what kind of Farscape presence is going to be at the show, and talking to some people about finding ways to get more Farsape into it. I'll know more about what's going on next week.

Hope to see you all there! Great, that's all I need, more people running around the building while I'm trying to sleep... If I get any radio calls during the show because any of you misbehave I'll have your meevoks (sp?)

Right, my attempt at being funny is done now.

Hello Fellow Scapers!!!

It's nice to know i'm not the only one in the Philly area who lovez the show as much az I do. I remember seeing the first "Premiere" episode when the show came on to see what it was about. And since then been hooked!! I hope some sanity is soon restored when/if they decide to bring a fifth season back.
I'm located here in Abington (near Willow Grove Mall). Wanted to go to the "Scaper Meetups" that are on the first wednesday of every month. But ,unfortunately, I work nights so it puts a major damp on my schedule. Anybody know of any weekend or some certain morning meetups? I'd love to meet others and talk about the best scifi show yet!!!

Its a Wizard World show...whatever that is. :)

Not sure if its comics, sci-fi, a little bit of both.

Varik is going to get back to me about some things to see if it would be possible to get some flyers or hand-outs at tables. Or some info along those lines, not sure yet. Unless a few people want to go down there and hand stuff out...(too shy for doing that personally :) )

Hello all,

Been a bit held up, way too much going on this week I haven't had a chance to go over what is at the show. Wizard World is a comic/sci fi convention, it has all kinds of stuff there. This is my first year here at the convention center, I'm told in previous year you do get people who dress up and that... If any of you are familiar with the comic magazine "Wizard", that's who's show it is.

There are Farscape meeting every first Wednesday? Where and when? If I'm not working I'd love to go. I'd also love to meet up with people on the weekends, so if you all wanted to start a second night.

So sorry everyone I do not have a full update on Wizard world yet.. I have 5 events I'm running at once right now and a little hugn up, but I'll get a detailed list soon. From what I've seen, I haven't seen any Farscape stuff on it as of yet.

I'll be sure to updated everyone ASAP. Also, please let me know about these meetings... I'd love to be more involved.

On this site you can vote for where you want to have the meeting held and it's like every first wednesday of the month. Doesn't cost to sign up. You will get emailed for any meetup plans and it'll even ask if you can attend or not. Check it out!!

Thanks for the update Varik.....you'll have to post and let us know how much fun it was....I know a friend of mine from Baltimore (non-scaper but comic geek like me) is doing a table for his comic shop, so I'll get the goods on it from two angles :)

As for the Farscape meetings, we really should set something up for those who are interested....diner meetings or coffee shop, or even a park-get-together in the summer :) Scaper Picnic!!

Okie Dokie...

So far we do not have an exhibitor list. Here's a link to the show's online list (I will have a more detailed one in a short while)

http://www.wizarduniverse.com/conventions/exhibitors_philly.cfm

For those of you who like the Jay and Silent Bob, Kevin Smith will be at the convention. Wonder if he likes Farscape... I'll find out.

We all should get together. As i have a funky schedule being an event coordinator, I can certainly understand how people can't make the meet ups on certain nights. But I noticed something here on the threads... We have the most pages of conversation with KY. I've also heard that Philly area had some of the best rating...

I think it's time we let the media and world know Philly is a Farscape mecca. We need to get the word out, and meet, and see what we can do about spreading the word.

If need be, I'll host a meet up at my house. I live in NE philly and have been looking for an excuse to entertain. We'll make it a party, why the hell not? Maybe a week from tomorrow (I'm working like an animal the next week...)

What do you all think?

I know Kevin Smith likes Star Wars, cause he hosted something on the SciFi Channel not that long ago. That would be AWESOME if he liked Farscape!
Just out of curiosity where in NE Philly do you live? (Not address of course, just general area) :)

Also, for anyone living IN Philly a question on libraries. There is a thread for the Farscape Library project at the top of the Campaign Strategizing section. Philly was one of the cities on the list, not really represented in terms of getting info on AV Departments in libraries. Philly has 55 libraries...what Mickie is looking for is the 10 largest (in terms of AV departments) I called the main branch asking for information, but I havent heard back from her yet...she knew about Farscape by the way :). So I was wondering if anyone knows which of those 55 are the fairly large branches?

I assume the Main branch is one and I know the NE Regional branch near Northeast High School is another (cause thats my alma mater). I'm tempted to guess since I cant seem to get a hold of her. I want to get the info to Mickie ASAP.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi all,

There's this real nice family that lets me live in some boxes they put for me on thier front lawn. In the day time I share the space with the family mutt, and night time they throw me some scraps of left over dinner.

Sorry, I'm runnin on 3 hours of sleep and little out there today. I live in on Devereaux Ave, renting a house there. Place is great, I love it. First time renting a house...

Anyhow, I will be meeting with the Wizrd World show managers on 5/7/03, and the show dated are 5/30-6/1 (3 days). I'm going to break my back to make sure I'm around Kevin Smith a lot, so when he's here I'll talk to him to see what his Farscape feelings are. Getting a guy like that to back this up will be huge.

So, as usual, I'll keep everyone updated as to what's going on. When I meet the show managers.

I hope these get togethers work, and we can get all the Philly fans together. If we can run a Farscape sonation event, and get all these people in the area who support the show to donate just a couple of dollars, maybe we can fund a Farscape Convention. I want them down here... I want to go out and do so many shots with Virginia that she does turn blue, and make evil Scorpi faces and one-liners at the locals with Wayne...

But, first lets just see what we've got around here... Sorry, got a bit carried away. 3 hours of sleep Remember...

If you guys dont already know, AyuRocks started a thread about Movie ad placements (which were done in some cities a while back).

I think if we could hit the first week of Matrix in Philly, we would be in good shape. If you can get Matrix, you'd love Farscape cause they both take a bit of brain.

Varik-
Youre freaking me out, cause when I lived in Philly I was about 5 blocks away from Devereaux, but it was the part of Devereaux near St. William's church.

Varik
04-27-2003, 01:02 AM
Scapers,

Hey Orion, I have no idea where the church is. good thing, they have a tendency to errupt in flames when I'm within 10 feet of them... no idea why... HA!

Listen all, I am versious about us all gettingtogether and making something happen. I don't want this to turn into one of those threads talking about how we're all going to get together and go on and on and on about it... then never do it. I want this to happen.

Also, once we start talking about what we're going to do... we all need to do it. These kinds of efforts fizzel all the time do to people who just stop caring, or just "don't feel like it."

I'm dead seripus about this effort. I will volunteer to organize the Philly/S. Jeresy (and all others) voice to bring Farscape back in one way shape or form. We can meet at my house, I live with my two ats and have lots of space... so we can all start from here, or go somewhere.. whatever you all want. But I am serious... I want the Philly area to be the Farscape Capitol.

I see a lot of talk, but not much being done. Though it will take time to do "anything", but we need to get organized.

Hey, the future of Farscape depends on it.

So, as my schedule is always changing and flexible... when and where do you all what to meet? Several of you mentioned weekends only... we just lost one... Next weekend? (Oh, Sat night I'm busted... Friday is cool with me...) Lets do this.

Just give me a time and place. Let's go.

Varik,

I'm in, but not for another couple of weeks. I have one more week of classes and then finals for this semester! :joy: but it sounds good. I have a few unsuspecting friends I can drag along, too! hehehe :ewink:

Anyways, keep me in the loop about what's going down. Thanks a bundle!!

I'm with Jacqui, school is taking precedence over everything for me, including sleep...which could explain my drinking coffee 24-7.

Anyway, I'm right outside Philly and getting together would be very cool. My best friend and I would go, no problem...but it would have to wait for me till the first week in June, after vacation and finals...

BUT on another note, the Wizard Con is something my boyfriend was talking about, b/c of my friend who is working it...we may get to go :)

More on that front later ;)

Sounds good, I plan on having lots of these meetings so, what ever anyone can do. I'm only a couple of year out of college so i cerainly remember what that's like... Wait, no I don't, I never studied a thing.

Anyhow, I'd like to start organizing things. We can set the first week of June as a primary meet up, I will also be going to the www.farscapemeetup.com meetings as well.

Anyhow, thank you both for the enthusiasm. As long as all of us get together, we'll soon be sitting back, knocking a few beers or whatever you drink, and watching season 5 in a theater... or something like that.

BTW- If you're going to Wizard World, send me a message. I'll be working the nights, would be cool to start meeting you all.

Hey my best friend just mentioned a great idea for an outside Farscaper picnic....Tyler State Park is near Bucks County Community College, in Newtown (not too far for many Philly/SJersey scapers)...close to major highways and it has a great picnic/pavilion area we can rent......wooohooo Farscape BBQ!!!

Frisbee, BBQ chicken, canoes, music, etc.......sound good????

Varik
04-29-2003, 11:37 AM
That's sounds like a good idea. I would like to ultimately run an event in ap ublic place where we could set up some kind of screen and air Farscape for the duration... will take a lot of planning, and looking at prcing for A/V and may not even be doable...

Anyhow, I'm up for anything for our first meeting. Whatever you all would like to do.

I don't mean to sound like I'm not a team player or anything... But I'm seeing these little efforts to spread Farscapes name and really, I think a lot of us are just wasting time and money.

For starters, today's Kevin and Kell news post... Who the hell know Kevin and Kell? Am I that out of it, or is this just a cult-fan web site?

During the meetings I'd like to discuss ideas on efficient ways of getting Farscape to people who do not know about it. We can run around here telling each other we need to save Farscape, and that's just a waste of air.

Maybe it's just because my day sucks and I need something to complain about, but I really think a lot of these efforts are pointless. We all need to do something big that will get people's attention.

I think people just figure every little bit helps. Besides its only a $5 donation for the comic webpage thingy for the day. :)
I've never heard of them either, but then again, most comics are "local" things.

I never heard of "In other news" either (but I think thats cause they are a "canadian comic"). But they seem to be doing a lot of good with printing up their Farscape related strips and giving the money to the fund.

Are you just frustrated cause Philly seems to have the Nielsen boxes but nothing else? :D I tried to get info put in the Inquirer and Daily News a while back, but the so-called "Entertainment writers" were more worried about those stupid reality shows and who the bachelor was going to pick than a write up about Farscape. Nuts to them cause I dont read their papers anyway. :D

Varik
05-02-2003, 04:48 PM
Yeah, like I said, I didn't mean to sound like I was complaining...

It sickens me that these so called writers care more about that reality crap than about quality television such as Farscape.

But that's our real problem, there's just not enough of us for them to care. 8 million people are watching that reality crap and barely 3 are watching Farscape. Makes me wonder why i keep paying that cable bill every month...

"Brian Henson: "I am absolutely thrilled that Lisa, Cheryl, John, Heather and I will acquire the company our father founded some 45 years ago. This has been a very challenging period for The Jim Henson Company. But the company has achieved some great things over the past few years, continues to have great assets and, we firmly believe, has great potential. Our commitment, as the Jim Henson Company's new owners and as Jim Henson's children, is to preserve and enhance those assets, fully realize that potential, and thereby honor our father's legacy."

This is the best news we've seen so far. I for one have faith that Brian will not let a show such as Farscape go away. Now that the family are in control, I think we're going to see some pretty funky things in the next couple of months.

Hey Joe,

Yeah, I was one of the only 3 who signed up. I'm certainly up for getting together and seeing what we can allcome up with. I know a lot of the people on this thread are finishing up college classes now, once that's done there should be some interest.

BTW All: I met with the Wizard World people. There is NO Farscape at Wizard World this year. Not entirely surpirzing, it's not a Sci-Fi convention as it's more of comics, figures, and games. As for Kevin Smith... not sure I'll even be near him. There's talk of the limo pulling into the exhibit hall and right up to the stage. He gets out, talks, get's back in the limo, then back off to Kevin Smith Land. But if I get a chance to talk to him, I'll be sure to ask him about any ideas for Saving Farscape.

But I have faith the Henson family will do that on thier own now.

Well, my best friend and I had come up with Tyler State Park in lower Bucks County....near the Bucks County Comm College. It's got great picnic areas that can be rented, as well as canoe renting and beautiful hiking trails.....

Frisbee....BBQ...Farscape people....

Only thing missing is no DVD watching. Any other suggestions??

The park idea sounds like a good idea. Now as I'm an event coordinator, I've got real funky hours. It's 10:30 on Sat night Mem. weekend and I'm working. I've got 2000 Germans in the building now drinking and waving flags.... Should I be nervous?

Anyhow, worst case scenario we could do the coffee place meet, don't know if we're all over 21 opr have plastic that says we are....

Also, the Farscape meet-up web site doesn't seem to be taking off at this point. So far there's only one i voted on that was canclled because only 3 people were interested. Do know if you all want to use that thing... The link is listed earlier on the thread. I'm too lazy to look for it.

Anyhow, I personally, have no problems where we all decide to meet. I'm cool with what you all decide is easiest for everyone to get to. I'm ion NE Philly and work in Center City and drive out to KOP a lot... so I'm pretty mobile.

NEED willing Scapers to place ads (while spending other people's money)
Hi, Scapers!

Adopt-A-City needs some foot soldiers to place the classified ads we are getting together for the following cities:

Dallas, TX
Denver, CO
Detroit, MI
Houston, TX
Lexington, KY
Los Angeles, CA
Miami, FL
Minneapolis, MN
Philadelphia, PA
Phoenix, AZ
Pittsburgh, PA
San Diego, CA

You won't have to pay for the ad (unless you'd like to contribute).
We need Scapers who are familiar with these cities, know the best newspapers to place the ads with (i.e. that would get us the best coverage and the most eyeballs).

PLease PM me or email me at rescuefarscape@aol.com

Well all, Day one of Wizard World and not even a whisper of Farscape. I'm sure if I stopped to look, I'd find a comic or figure... But they're pushing the Hulk and more comic stuff. Actually, they aren't pushing anything, it's only the vendors who bought space there.

So all in all, without huge paychecks, there wasn't going to be much we can do about Farscape at this one. But it's a pretty cool show though. Lots of geeky dorky stuff... people in costumes and so forth. It's my show next year... Anyhow, thought I'd leave an update as it was discussed. If any of you decide you're going to make it down, let me know. I'll look out for you.

Well all, Wizard World is a great show. Lots of cool stuff, and pretty cool people. The show managers are just a bunch of pros, awsome to work with. But, as promised, I got to spend 2 hours with Mr. Kevin Smith today. However, he has never watched Farscape, so I did not go on to ask any advice and all. Besides, he was with his family and I didn't want to be a pest.

However, he is one of the classiest people I have ever met. The guy is so nice, and so cool... Put it to you this way, most Hollywood types would have arrived and left in a limo. When I escorted him out, the dude got in a taxi with his parents. I got to talk to his sister for a while and she said he'd rather hang at home than at some Hollywood party. Simply put, the most normal human being I've ever met. Great guy, just a great human being.

Just wanted to share that with you all.

YIKES! You're right. Been away from Philly so long, I've forgotten. Going South on Route 1, the Rt-320 exit takes you into Springfield, immediately after that is the "blue route" exit which takes you to I-95, then Providence Road (which takes you thru Rosetree area of Media), then the next "major" exit is Rt-352. Just past that exit on Rt-1 (on the right) is the Granite Run Mall. Riddle Memorial Hospital is on the other side of the highway. Used to go clubbing at a place called Bebops at that mall when in my 20's (that, and Pulsations in Glen Mills --- both of which are no longer existing).

It's amusing... i work in the Havertown, PA (really near philly) and i've "infected" 7 people in my work with the farscape virus. It's beautiful really... and they all are as addicted as i am. Which sucks, cause they're waiting for the dvd's to get caught up, and i've seen every aired episode... so the last episode most of them have seen is "Scratch and Sniff" so i always have to be careful what i say to them... for fear of spoilers.

However... i'm a 24 year old male college student at Temple University... who does the anime, video games, synth/ebm/industrial/trance (and just about everything else except rap other than tribe called quest and the beastie boys) music thing.

I think the first farscape episode i ever watched was Die me Dichotomy. Though it might have been the premier. Dont know... i'm just rambling now... i'm about to go home and play Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for a bit for the XBOX, before i meet up with people and play Halo.

Lets just set a date and do this thing.

Hey ArcheimSeries, you hit Evolution on Sunday's at all? I try to as much as possible and will be there tomorrow.

See you all soon,

The Llanerch Diner??? Oh MY *BLEEP*!!! The stories I could tell you about late night meals with "the guys" at THAT place. That whole area is my old stompin' ground before I moved west. More than half of my family and friends are within a 5-10 mile radius of that intersection. Used to also munch late nights with "the guys" at the Country Squire further up on West Chester Pike. One incident involved a thrown ketchup bottle and a fork in the back of someone's hand. Now THAT'S an ugly 15 year flashback.

I met a few people last night at a 11 person halo gathering for the XBOX that we had last night... and some of them eventually left to go to Evolution... last summer i went to nocturne a lot at shampoo, my schedule went: clubbing ---> drink a lot of alcohol ----> go to work. unfortunately i came in hung over a few times and it didnt work with my professionalism... so i havent gone as much. As for evolution... from what i hear... it's best to go there armed to the teeth.

I also live in havertown... i'm pretty close to the Llanerch... and the skatium. As for meeting up, i'm off weekends. Though i'm leaving for indiana wednesday and wont be home this weekend.

I so have to register for classes... (temple university) i'm such a slacker. and i ordered DRD's from trollandtoad.com and i'm wondering where they are... i'm just going to put drd's in random places on my floor in my room.

As for halo last night... i was consistantly number 2, though got 1 once.

What are the ages of you folks that live in proximity to me? As stated in prior post i'm 24, just kind of curious. The fact that there are scapers in the area not converted by me is intriguing.

get frelled.

I actually ended up blowing Evolution off last night. Have a date tonight, so I thought I would save the money. Also for that alcohol reason... working events with a hang over is just not possible.

I'm 27, and there have been talks on this thread since may about a meet-up, but none have been confirmed. I'd still like to see everyone get together at some time.

Take care,

John

I'm 29....Temple University Alum :)...(and also La Salle and East Stroudsburg, cause I got board with colleges very easily). :)

Live near Montgomery Mall now...but lived in Philly up until two years ago.

Never played Halo (dont have an Xbox - got Playstation 2 and Gamecube instead), but I hear its a very cool game. I wish they would stop making some games console-specific cause I aint paying 170 bucks just to play Halo. I like the Medal of Honor game - cant wait for the "Pacific Sun" (or whatever the heck its called) one to come out.

I USED to frequent Evolution on Sunday's a few years ago. EVERY Sunday. I was a regular in the whole scene....but I've since pretty much left the clubbing scene behind......priorities change and all, but I have very fond memories of sitting with my gothie girlies and making our own "names" for people in the club.

/sigh.....those were the days.

Nice to see Evolution still going strong....I miss the District tho. Shampoo is fun on Nocturne nights, but District was the best :):whip:

Hey all. I am off to Seattle for a trip.
I will be back in a week. At that time I am going to start working full speed for a "Farscape Picnic". If anyone wants to lend a hand..and I mean a 'serious" hand at getting this thing up and running. Contact me at Marineboy2@aol.com or of course feel free to post here. See you all in a week..and START PLANNING!!

Well, Evolution these days has it's good nights and very dead nights. I left the area five years ago only to move back in the past year. A lot of people are just not around anymore... Just about everyone I knew dropped off the face of the Earth.

And yes, District was much better than Shampoo. Well BluSun, if you were at District and Evolution 5 years ago, there's a pretty good chance we know each other, or at least had mutual friends.

Talk to you all later,

John

Well, there hasn't been any talk of a meet up in about 3 months... So is this something we've all given up on?

Also, talking to a friend of mine, he read something on the Internet about the ressurection of Farscape.

Turns out they are trying to get a 4 part mini series on a channel... however no channel is very willing to pick up a mini series, just to end the show. This leads to another problem...

Our dearest classiest friends at Sci Fi Channel not only still own all the rights, they are also denying any knlowedge of these arrangements.

From what he read, they are going to do one of several thing... run the 4 part mini series to end the sturey and everyone can have thier closure. 2: Run the mini series as a pilot episodes to re-vamp the show elsewhere. 3: Run these mini series to boost support for the silver screen.

Has anyone else heard anything about this?

And is there going to be any kind of meetup?

Its been floating around for a while in the camp. strat. forum on this board but has been dismissed as "rumor" for now since no one in the "know" is claiming to know anything about it.

It has taken on different forms, from people signing contracts in England to something about filming in Sydney in December, its a movie, its a mini-series, its Farscape, its Firefly (to make it more confusing there is a mini-series being filmed in Sydney, Australia called Firefly, but its about firefighters apparently). :)

For now everyone just seems to be waiting for the word from above - Henson. :D

Am I bad or what? I started this thread and have not been back since! I am in Reading and have been looking for Scapers around here to get together with. I am glad to see that we have a bunch of peeps in the area, and SE Jersey and even DE! I know there was a group of Scapers out of Philly who used to get together to watch the first ep of each new season. Maybe we could get together to watch the mini-series together? I know that is down the road a piece, but it's food for thought. I will definitely have to make sure I get back here on a more regular basis.

I would love a get-together even sooner but I'm not driving the Surekill Raceway in crappy weather!! LOL I'm in Reading and I hate driving to Philly because I always get lost! LOL If you know of any other Scapers in our general vacinity that would like to get together we could try to come up with a meeting place. It would be so nice to get together with a bunch of Scapers.

As for Boston and Escapade, I was thinking about it but I don't have enough vacation time to do it and I also have two other trips to Texas and Burbank that will be taking up all of my extra money. Maybe next time.

:bigwave: Howdy there, northern neighbors!

Varik, I feel your pain -- our Wilmington, DE Meetups were always cancelled for not enough responses, too. But this March we're just one RSVP short so we're going for it anyway. For anyone close enough to Newark, DE, you're cordially invited to come on down! For more info, directions or encouragement, please check out Delaware Scapers thread (http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/showthread.php?goto=lastpost&threadid=7998). If Newark is too far, maybe we could next try a combo meeting in the middle (a weekend day allows more travel time).

P.S. -- Justplainlisa, were you referring to "PhillyCon"? My hubby & I (& a few others from down here) went to one of them a few years ago and had a great time. :D
ETA: Holy chicken-dren, Batman! :chicken: I need to check here more often -- Icarus Abides, are you in northern DE? Have you checked out Meetup.com? OK, I'll stop with the 20 questions. Hey Hershey Gang!
Ok, here's the tentative schedule for the Hershey Meet-Up this coming weekend. We're going to go on Saturday, the 18th and meet at the giant pumpkin before the front gates. (Since I have no idea what any of you look like I figured everyone could at least find that.) It's off to the left before you get to the signs for measuring heights that are all marked with different candy bars. (You'll see it, it's a HUGE pumpkin)
And since the majority doesn't get there often, we're going from open to close which is 10am-10pm. So don't be late! ;)
Also, just as a side note with the hurricane it is supposed to rain all day Friday and Saturday. Based on the forcast for the weekend say, Thursday, would people want to re-schedule for Sunday if it does actually rain? If not, I have rain gear so I'm all set. Just thought I'd warn people. Also, if Hershey is rained out, there is other stuff to do in the area; Chocolate World, movies, Chocolate World...
And one more thing, how about a head count for who is definately going plus cell phone numbers if anyone gets lost. Thanks gang! :D

Hey Philly area scapers!!!

We are trying to organize another meet-up, this time around Halloween. :D It will most likely be the weekend of Halloween, whether that means Friday night, Saturday, or Halloween itself. We're just trying to figure out what day is best for everyone!

Here's the deal, we're planning on going to the Mutter's Museum and Eastern State Penitentary's Terror Behind the Walls, both of which are in Philly!

Here's a link to the Mutter's Museum: http://sd.essortment.com/muttermuseumph_rgcn.htm

And here's one for Eastern State: http://www.easternstate.org/

We can do either or both! If we decide to just do one, it should probably be Eastern State because they're actually Halloweeny, whereas we could go to the Mutter's Museum anytime.

The MM is open until 5pm on Sunday with a cost of $8 to get in for adults. ESP is open until 10pm on Sunday and ticket information for it can be found here: http://www.easternstate.org/halloween/tickets/index.html#ticket I think they also have group rates available, so let's try to get a big group going!!! :D

PM me if you have any questions!

We have to get together before Twichie leaves us....<sniffle> although she did promise to find me a cowboy, so her moving 2,000 miles away may not be such a bad thing after all. :ewink:

Let's start generating ideas! Who's got any? LOL

ETA: F16WarPlane, there's no way I can make that con. :( Too short notice, I'm afraid. Sounds fun though! Have you though about FarPoint in Baltimore? It's February...something. :lol I'm considering going. Wayne and David will be there! :D

Very small world. I went to Franklin Elementary and lived near Cheltenham and Rising Sun. :)

Most of the local Scapers are in the burbs and beyond. I've only met UTChick and she lives in Downingtown.

Jacqui, I think she leaves at the end of February. Not positive, though. I know she needs help packing, and I was hoping to come by and help her for a weekend later this month, but I have to figure out the train/bus first. :D

LilO, Ned's been leaving me alone for the past month or two. But I've been home in Detroit for the past few weeks...maybe my absence will make his heart grow fonder. LOL

LiLO, we are planning a goodbye party for Twich, but not details yet. If you want to be kept in the loop just let me know. :D

La Bomba, Philly isn't going to make it because they have nothing without TO. Pittsburgh is the best darn team in the NFL, they're going all the way! Go team! :D

LiLOrion
01-04-2005, 03:36 PM
