Um I just found out that a Volmae poster has not been made yet. I'm sure one will be made eventually though.
Kyrra Welcome to the board.
For your party you could print full page posters and basically wallpaper the place with it. (If using a printer, use ink refills and save tons o' money, I always do). For mini flyers, you could try an old thread by mark D taylor and print the times and channel the progam airs in your area. there are tons of flyer designd thoughout this thread, thanks to the amazing graphics people here.

I will eventually post pics of the keychains as ratscape has requested... I just need to do take the pic... I'll get to it....one of these days. :)
As for making them... It's quite easy. I did them 2 ways:
1. I have Quark Xpress, makes laying out a page for printing very quick and easy, not to mention condensing the pic size to 2" X 3" I did a layout, printed minimum 2 of each pic, and printed them out on "photo quality" paper on the highest quality printer setting. Cut them out, put them in keychain blanks and snapped them shut. I think I got in 10 images per page.
2. The other way is basically the same, but used different layout software. I did them both ways because there are advantages of on over the other. This other program, Photoprinter, came with my ink jet printer, and it has tons of pre made layouts and sizing options. I got 9 images per page with this one, but the print quality was better. Not quite sure why....
The real trick to make them look good is the paper, the dpi setting of your printer and the keychain blanks. I got my keychain blanks from www.shopcasi.com They have tons of supplies for personalized products.
The ink about killed my budget though (it's the primary reason I had to ask people to pay cost for them, ink is too expensive). Hi res printing uses up a LOT of ink.
And the paper really needs to be at least "Photo Quality" paper, you can't really use ordinary paper, the ink absorbs in and has a tendency to get muddy. The special coating on the "Photo Quality" paper does make the images look better, especially since the much smaller printing dimensions actually does make the 72 dpi pics into hi-res images (more or less).
Does that help?
:)

PS Volmae was played by Angie Milliken

I find that the color quality from the refills aren't as good. It's a bit off from the original color. It's occasionally a subtle difference, but it is noticable when you want to do photo quality print outs. And you do eventually have to get a new ink cartridge anyway because the metal contacts in the cartridge do eventually wear out. Besides, it's less messy. :D
Here's a pic of the keychains I have left...

I've adored these from the get-go, so it's high time I said so! I just finished scrolling through this entire thread, and I am just in ratscaper bliss. :D
I know someone's already suggested 1812 - I'd love that, too, as well as a variant on your existing DRD, done as "One-Eye" (with the blue tape).
I was wondering whether you might consider doing Crichton's son from the LATP trilogy. You've done several of Crichton, and one for each of Fran Buller's characters, plus one of Crichton's daughter in LATP; I was thinking it might be fun to do a "Browder Farscape Family Portrait" collage of all of these, but it wouldn't quite be complete without that other little cutie.

Yes, I know there is one of his daughter (in fact I think I specifically listed it above). That was in Part 3. Back in Part 1, there was also a really cute scene with his potential son, who was slightly younger than the daughter (i.e. not the baby). That's the one I'm after.

Hi, Rats!
I was just enjoying your "Invite 'x' or make mine a day pass" postcard graphics over in the Burbank Bulldren thread, and started thinking (always a dangerous thing) - it might be fun to have similar "out of makeup" wanted posters for the regular cast members, as you do for Rockne, Brian, DK, and Ricky. You know, like, maybe, someday ages hence when you've run out of characters and critters...in 2008. :D

Please trout me if I'm overstepping, or if this post belongs in a different thread.
I was just doing my daily perusal of eBay's Farscape items, and noticed that someone is selling t-shirts with one of ratscape's illustrations on them. I thought rats had indicated that the artwork wasn't for commercial use, but perhaps I'm misremembering.
Here's a sample (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3342637911&category=2312) of the auctions to which I'm referring.
If it's legit, cool. I just wouldn't want to bid on something that didn't have ratscaper's okay. :horror:

Speaking of the tee shirts, I tried to make my own with a couple tee shirts and some iron transfers. They turned out ok... but iron transfers are a b***h to put on. The corners are loose and the iron on material does crack. Plus the first one I did is kinda screwed up as I accidentally bought one XXXL white tee shirt. That is a little big for me… That one had Aeryn on the front and a couple of her quotes on the back. The second one had Aeryn on the front and Crichton on the back. I wore that one on the last plane trip I took to Cali (it really kinda embarrassed one of my brothers hehe). I wore out once while I was out there and some one actually commented on the shirt. Since it was my first time representing Farscape I was a little overwhelmed with what to say. Sigh… next time will be better. So I was thinking of getting a tee shirt place to make the shirts for me, but I need to do bulk runs. I think 25 or so is the minimum to do (at a reasonable price $10 each). If I were going to do this I certainly would not be trying to make a buck like the EBAY guy mentioned above. Plus I think an OK from Ratscape is a big must. I do not think this guy has the OK, he seems to have a ton of shirts on his site, but no mention of if they are legit or not.
But back to the point of the post...
Why don't we use the Ratscape pictures for out “To Do List” mailings. I mean if these guys (meaning media VPs and what not) start to suddenly get tons of these sent to them that would send a louder signal then a couple letters. I mean still write the letters, but include a couple color print outs in the envelope too. You would have to use the full sized manila envelopes so the pictures would not have to be folded. We might have to coordinate this a little so that all 90 or so of them get some representation in the mailing. It would be better if more then one of us this did this, each person send 1 – 3 of them to each person on our list of media company people. I just wanted to make sure this usage is OK (the mailing one, since it is not for commercial use) and find out if there is any specific way to acknowledge on the print outs that these were made by Ratscape since there is not signature on them. Right on… back to work.

Thinkum, thanks for spotting the ebay items!
Jeffrabb, I got your message. Thanks! I'll be contacting them shortly.
Buyers beware! If you find someone selling any of the ratscape images for profit, just know that they were NOT given permission to use those images by me. All the illustrations I have created are intended strictly to further the awareness of Farscape and the Save Farscape campaign. A lot of creative Scapers have found cool ways of using the artwork on t-shirts, stickers, flyers, keychains, posters, etc.-- without profitting. I'd hate to think that someone out there is trying to make a quick buck off of our predicament! Not only are they taking advantage of my work and the Henson Co. (who own the rights to the characters in use) but also those fans who are working adamently to save the show.
Thanks for listening.

Hee hee! Traltixx. Don't know why, but lately I've been finding opportunities to SCREEEAM like him for more light. Like the last Farscape Viewing Party I attended. The living room was too dark, and I needed light to work on stuff there, so what else could I do but start screaming, "More light! I need- more- liiiiiight!!!" ?
Only understood by Scapers, of course!
And now... Oliver Twist, starring Traltixx.

Have you tried using the HP iron on ink jet / laser image transfer paper? Once you've printed out the image you have to heat set the image on the fabric before you can wash it.
You can also use the HP photo transfer copy paper that you must take to a photcopy shop like Kinko's - make sure you use the color copier to transfer the images to the photocopy paper as the black and white copier is not hot enough to make the image transfer correctly (even if your image is only black & white). Also note that if the image has any words with it you have to photo copy it in reverse.
Photocopy tranfer paper is available in WalMart's craft section and stationery depts and most quilt supply stores like JoAnns or Hancocks Fabrics for about $8 packet of 5 sheets. Quilters have been using the photo transfer method in Mmeory Quilts for a number of years now and the method is very successful. It is also not sticky nor does it crack with age and laundering.
A final word when transferring the image always use a press cloth over the transfer and follow the directions for heat setting to get the best results

Love the Proprietor...
Btw, about the t-shirt transfers... also try making the image a little smaller and cutting the edges off the transfer paper before you iron it on. The edges of the paper get more damage done to it and that may be affecting the "peel off" factor.

For those who haven't seen, we're going to be sending some custom-carved pumpkins (most likely using Ratscape's Pilot or Scorpy design) to various execs (and Henson!) for Halloween. http://www.watchfarscape.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=214335#post214335
However, while the pumpkin-carving guy was really impressed with Ratscape's work, their complexity is going to make the carving pretty expensive ($195 per pumpkin). I know we don't want anyone else fooling with Ratscape's work, which is why I'm hoping he will see this and let us know if there's any way he could simplify one of the designs for this project. If not, we'll make do and just send fewer pumpkins :)

The chess set was made out of 1/4" acrylic pieces (clear and black). We also made the chess board too out of acrylic. The key to getting it done was that my husband operates a laser at work. I would give him ratscape's artwork and he would do the work. When all was said and done, the chess board was rather large and would probably be unweilding to keep shipping around the country. It was also a pain to do.
However, we did do a really cool tic tac toe game. Smaller, with the Peacekeeper symbol on it. The white circles had either Crichton, Aeryn, Chiana, Rygel or Dargo on them. The black squares had either Scorpius, Braca, Grayza, Natira or Crais on them. I was planning to add one to the kit, with the two new banners I made as well. I will also be putting in a few datachips and comm badges too.
The comm badges and datachips are made from acrylic (cut by my husband), vinyl and metalic paints. I also used screen door mesh and felt on the comm badges. I'll post pics for you later. I have to get someone to help me, cause I am not that familiar with the computer stuff.

THOSE ARE THE FRELLING STICKERS I MADE AS FREEBIES FOR DRAGON*CON. THOSE %&^%*&%*
I remember this scum. He asked for extra freebies because he said he worked in a bookstore and wanted to help spread the word and wanted to give them away to customers. So he did obtain these items under false pretenses. And we did have a sign explaining that Henson had the copyrights and that we were using another persons art and that these items could not legally be sold. I am sure the only reasons the key chains have not shown up is becaue they have this site engraved on them.
I sent off my report to e-bay.

hmph! Makes me glad the dealers at Scapercon were so honest. One of them wanted to buy 12 of FoodScape2 for later re-sale at other cons. But he was honest with me and I told him why he couldn't do that. Very nice man.. he took it well, obviously understood the legal ramifications and bought a cookbook for personal use anyway (heck 4 other dealers bought the cookbooks too!)

And yet another one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3347618257) on eBay.
This seems to be happening frequently enough that it could start clogging the thread if I holler every time. Since I'm not the copyright holder, eBay will disregard any report I make about it to them, myself -- is there a better spot/method for alerting the appropriate people? Email? A dedicated thread? Mind my own business and ignore it? :D (I tend to check the new Farscape listings at eBay daily; I don't mind passing along a heads-up when I spot something, but I don't want to make everyone crazy over it...)

Even as a member going back almost four years with feedback stars out the wazoo... there was no easy or appropriate place for me to nail 'em.
It seems to me that by making the reporting of such offenses so difficult, eBay is in fact condoning it to a certain degree.

Here's a link that explains Ebay policies. I think someone can make a complain to Ebay about this problem. Check out Protecting Intellectual Property. Of course, I guess it all reverts back to Henson. Ratscape's images are for free PERSONAL use and not to use for profit. I'm not sure who can make the complaint. Perhaps someone could contact the seller directly. As a memebr I can get the seller's email address. Let me know. This person/seller is dren.:(

I've been through that route before. If you attempt to report the copyright violation but you are not the copyright holder or their legal agent, then they will take no action (you'll receive an email back from eBay saying so).
In this instance, ratscape (or his legal representative) can complain as the artist of the image being used, and/or Henson can complain as the owner of the character in the image being used. (For that matter, Ben might be able to complain, as the portrayer of the character of the image being used.)
The rest of us can only sit back and fume.

I believe the original idea was to have 88 posters, one to symbolize each of the 88 eps that were made. I don't think it has anything to do with character count, as you have noted, there are more one "scene" possible for characters... he's done a couple of Johns, Aeryns, etc...

I have been devoted to these pics since you started making them, and am already sorry at the thought that you won't be continuing them.
But, along those lines.....has anyone mentioned Einstein?
Keep up the awesome work!

Hi Ianchild:wavehi:
Another artist here, Praetorian, has created this version of Einstein some time ago:

LOL...I was so busy today that I completely forgot what day it was. It's a good thing I have Ratscape to keep me in line. Awesome work!
Finally, someone told me to get off my comp. Which I will now do...maybe.

When I was adding some items to my CafePress shop this week, I noticed that they've made the 2004 calendars available, and I started wondering...(danger, Will Robinson!)...
Would it be feasible to do a Ratscape Wanted Posters calendar, in the same way that the Foodscape cookbooks were done (you can't purchase one, but you can make a contribution to one of the Save Farscape funds, and have a copy sent to you as a thank-you gift)?
I don't mean feasible administratively; the logistics would be pretty straight-forward. Rather, I'm wondering if it would be considered appropriate, copyright-wise etc. (And certainly if Ratscape isn't comfortable with the idea, that would end it right there.)

Would a bribe of good ole Gharadelli chocolate help?:ewink:
Any how, patiently waiting on Ratscape Wednesday:D

After all, they don't have chocolate out there in the universe...this is the only place you could get it!

Great Idea and the chocolate (oooh dark chocolate?) is very tempting but I got to say ixnay on the calendars. If it's done like the cookbooks, well, they were very careful not to infringe on the Henson copyrights. Besides, if all 5 of you bought one that'd only make about $12.75 for the campaign. :) And isn't there going to be a Scaper guys & jirrls calendar?! Thanks though for enjoying the artwork enough to want to use them like that!
